Mcdonalds Financial Statement Analysis

...Main Issue: By looking over McDonalds recent financial statements, should Blue Sky Portfolio Management consider McDonald’s as a possible investment in the near future? Recommendation: Investing in McDonald’s industry is a decent option that Blue Sky Portfolio Management can take in to consideration. Analysis: In McDonalds it can be seen that operating margin is increasing in the past two years. This would show that the McDonald’s revenue before tax after deducting direct costs and overhead is increasing. High operating margin shows that McDonald is earning more per dollar of sales that is more favourable compare to similar corporations. However, operating margin include McDonalds ordinary business operations and excludes other revenue, losses and liabilities. Now by observing net profit margin it is noticeable that McDonalds is getting stronger in enforcing their pricing policies, cost structure and production efficiencies. Also, net profit margin for McDonalds illustrates lower long-term loan liabilities compare to year 2008. These ratios can be observed in exhibit 2. By looking deeper in the vertical common-size balance sheet (Exhibit 1) it is observable that total asset of McDonalds is increasing from 2008 to present. ...everything that a business owns. Assets are items in an organization that can be physically converted into cash. The process of assessing how easily an asset can be turned into money is how liquidity is measured. For McDonalds these assets include items such as cash, accounts receivable, investments, and property and equipment. These items are listed on the balance sheet based on their level of liquidity, which means the speed in which the items can be exchanged for cash. The assets that are the most liquid are found at the top of a financial statement. One example of this type of asset is accounts receivable which represents how much money is owed to McDonalds in the amount of $1,334,700. After the most liquid investments are identified and listed McDonalds then provides its current assets, such as inventory, on their financial statement. Items in this section are expected to be sold to create income within a 12-month period. In the case of our company there is $ 116,800,000 in inventories waiting to generate income. The next groups of assets are long-term assets and consist of items that would take the longest to convert into cash. An example of this is McDonalds ‘property and equipment, which is listed at $35,737,600. Assets are important to an Organization like McDonalds because the information can be used internally by managers or others to help plan, organize and run business operations (Kimmel, Weygandt, & Kieso,  2009). Clowns

...2008, that fear drastically evolved into a trauma; Once I watched the movie called, ‘IT’, by Stephen King. From that day forward I found myself screaming and crying at the top of my lungs every time I seen a clown. Imagining that they were evil killers just like the intimidating clown of the movie. The trauma was so intense that when there was a fund raiser event held at my elementary school , Browning Pearce , the clown Ronald McDonald was there to meet and greet every child , including me, and once it was my turn to actually see him I fainted and collapsed onto the floor . As I came to my senses, my mother, Brenda forced me to watch the movie, ‘IT', including a bunch of other clown cartoons. I had to watch them for a whole week nonstop, even before I did my homework or went to church. Watching almost 168 hours of clowns on television; I finally realized that my horror of clowns had vanished into thin air. The next day I told my mother that the anxiety was gone, so she told me to get in the car and she drove us to a local McDonalds where Ronald McDonald was at. She had me meet him again, but, this time I didn't faint; I actually thought he was a funny cool clown. In conclusion, I became indomitable of clowns and with the help of my mother disciplining me to face my trepidation of them; the word FEAR had ceased to exist anymore within me. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ......

.... How should McDonald's respond when ads promoting healthy lifestyles featuring Ronald McDonald are equated with Joe camel and cigarette ads? Should McDonalds's eliminate Ronald McDonald in its ads? Eliminating Ronald McDonald, who is the brand mascot, is not the solution. Rather many people connect with Ronald McDonald emotionally. According to a survey, Ronald is among top 25 mascots of all times. (Top survey, 2007) Ronald McDonalds can visit to schools for educating students about the importance of health and a healthy lifestyle. This will have the positive image of the mascot and further, Ronald McDonald could involve in charities where the mascot can be seen in giving charities to the unfortunate children. All the above would help in gaining the image of Ronald McDonalds back. McDonald should react to this issue in a calm and positive way as still many kids and parents are in love with the Ronald and would like to see their favorite whenever they visit to the outlet. By making people know that it is the perception which people will need to change. By imbibing healthier lifestyle is the solution, not protesting the mascot. 2. Dear Mr Corbett

...Dear Ms Corbett, I note that your ethos says 'Granton pupils are encouraged to be thoughtful and responsible young people with high self-esteem and with the motivation, skills and knowledge to succeed in life.' I believe that I will be able to help these young people by being at the same level as them so that I can understand them and find ways of encouraging them to have high self–esteem and believe in themselves that they will succeed in education. I will be able to include this in any work that I undertake with the young pupils that attend your school, particularly as I have the ability to listen and empower people. Allowing young people to get their voices heard is a great tool in raising their confidence. I believe that I have the ability to make changes in society by using personal experiences and my educational knowledge to relate to those who I work with. Comprehensive Report on Global Staffing Strategies

...Comprehensive Report on Global Staffing Strategies Comprehensive Report on Global Staffing Strategies Mergers and acquisitions are increasingly being used by firms to strengthen and maintain their position in the market place. They are seen by many as a relatively fast and efficient way to expand into new markets and incorporate new technologies. Yet their success is by no means assured. To the contrary, a majority fall short of their stated goals and objectives. While some failure can be explained by financial and market factors, a substantial number can be traced to neglected human resource issues and activities (Schuler & Jackson p.1). As the Director of Human Resources for Clearly Heard, a telecommunications company it has been deemed necessary for me to revise the current staffing strategy in order to acquire Scene and Sound, another telecommunications company in Germany. The CEO has required that I prepare a comprehensive staffing strategy for the new expansion in order to prepare for a strategic audit of the HR systems of Scene and Sound. In order to get a complete understanding of the HR system I will also answer the following questions: What HR challenges may arise as a result of this acquisition? What unique cultural and regulatory factors (e.g. EEOC) need to be considered? How will they impact organizational effectiveness? What recruitment and selection practices will be used in staffing Scene and Sound? What mix of expatriates and internationals are......
