Questions Answers
What is meant by the term media convergence with regard to technology, and how has it affected everyday life? Media convergence means that the different kinds of media are becoming one. I believe that even though we have many forms of media it all is still merging into the main form that we us these days: technology. This has made a big effect on our everyday life simply because we now use technology for everything. Most of us no longer go get newspapers and things as such like we use to. Now everything is available for us online or through our smart phones. They even have apps on our smart phones for the online sites that have the information from the newspaper. This makes things easier in a sense. It also helps us get information without going through so many different kinds of sources and media’s. We use technology so much more these days; everything is slowly but surely becoming electronic or being able to be done/reached through technology. Traditional media is still here but it is not as effective as it used to be. Technology is the big hit of the century. We use technology more than we can imagine and it has become so much more advanced than I ever imagined. I believe it will only continue to advance and blow our minds knows where things will be in another century. I do believe that if technology keeps advancing like this that in the future traditional media will be slim to no usage at all. It will slowly fade away. In my opinion, this is already happening.
What is meant by the term media convergence with regard to business, and how has it affected everyday life? Media convergence is now within the sources of putting information and data into business computers and of databases. Media convergence allows businesses to communicate through technology and spread data easier than before. It has made things a lot easier for business and people who deal with the data of businesses. Now they have more digital and technical ways of sending information. This includes, our phones, emails (that we can now do on our phones), video conferences. You don’t even have to be in the same room to do a conference anymore. You can now get on webcam and do a video conference along with conference calls. I believe this makes things easier to do for these businesses but I also believe it is quite a risk. All of their information is more out there now and is more liable to be exposed. It is so much easier to leak information and the public is becoming so smart along with the technology that they can easily tap a conference call and know all of the information that was supposed to be sacred. This is just my opinion, some agree and some disagree. As I said, this has made things so much easier for business when it comes to spreading information and inserting data into the system but it has also put them at a larger risk. The technology will only continue to advance and I believe that these risks that I speak of will only become larger if they continue to put their information out there as much.
What are some of the issues that result from dependency on modern media? Describe at least three issues. I believe that dependency on modern media can cause a downfall in children’s behavior, weight gain for people, and a rise in stress levels. Children depend so much on media sources and are open to so much more information than what they use to be. This can affect their behavior and veer their focus away from the important things in life. If they are not focused on what they should be and are all wrapped up in the media instead of school this will cause another issues between their parents and them. I also believe that the media can make us lazy if we become addicted to the information and sources that are available through the internet. If we become addicted we will sit around all day just browsing the internet and other media sources waiting for something new to pop up. If we do this we will not get our daily needed exercise and it will cause us to gain weight. This will affect our health and can become detrimental if we allow it to. The last thing I believe is that dependency on modern media can cause our stress levels to rise. If we solely depend on modern media what happens if something goes wrong or we cannot get within reach of media sources. We will stress and be so lost. There will not be anywhere else to turn because we would be fully dependent of modern media. This is why we should not be solely dependent off of modern media; A lot of us in this day and time are solely dependent off of modern media.
How does media literacy help with responsible media consumption? I believe that media literacy makes media consumption easier. Media literacy education is developing media literacy. It is to help people analyze messages to detect advertising, censorship, and bias in news and public affairs programming, and the reasons for it. It helps understand how media ownership. Media literacy aims to enable people to be skillful creators and producers of media messages, both to enable an understanding of the strengths and limitations of each, as well as to create independent media. Media literacy is an expanded understanding of literacy.

Effects of Mass Media

...Mass Media Trevor Stanton HUM/186 January 22, 2014 Effects of Mass Media During the last century there were several major developments in the evolution of mass media. These developments are the evolution of the print, electronic, and digital eras which now encompass modern day media. These three eras have significantly affected American culture and economics, while ushering in a new standard of mass communications. While paper printing can be traced back to China as early as 100 c.e, modern printing did not emerge until the mid-fifteenth century. At that time, the printing press was introduced. The printing press was a conglomerate of machine duplication, rapid duplication, and faster production. These three elements were necessary for mass-market innovation. Information and ideas could now be spread faster and farther than ever before. With the evolution of the printing press, production of mass quantities at lower costs per unit became essential in mass production of other goods. This led to the Industrial Revolution, modern capitalism, and the consumer culture of the twentieth century. “With the revolution in industry came the rise of the middle class and an elite business class of owners and managers who acquired the kind of influence formerly held only by the nobility or the clergy. Print media became key tools that commercial and political leaders used to distribute information and maintain social order”. (Campbell, R., Martin, C., & Fabos, B. (2012). Media and culture:...

For example, music, internet, television, and the news are considered media convergence. These are some examples of media convergence that just about everyone uses in their day to day lives. These are also examples that keep changing drastically over a very short time span. This kind of media change requires us to keep changing drastically over a very short time span. It also makes learn how to stay on our toes and how to be able to adjust to the changes. I think that this kind of media convergence will stay evolving every few months and becoming more and more high tech with their changes. The internet has changed so much and most people would not know what to do with themselves if the internet went away. However, not everybody has or knows how to use the internet even with times and technology the way it is. People turn to the news every morning or night so they can be aware of what is going on in the world and their surroundings. I think something else that would be considered media convergence would have to be the smart phones. They have some people who stay on the go and do their school work and even their jobs...
