Memo on Management Behaviour

Managers must practice the art of getting things done through organisational resources (eg.workers, financial resources, information and equipment). At one time, managers were called bosses, and their jobs consisted of telling people what to do and watching over them to be sure they did it. Bosses tended to reprimand those who didn’t do things correctly and generally acted stern. Many managers still behave that way. Perhaps you’ve witnessed such behaviour.Today, management is more progressive. Such managers are educated, to guide, train, support, motivate and coach employees rather than to tell them what to do. There is much more emphasis on working in teams and team building. Managers of high-tech firms realize that workers often know much more about technology than they do.Thus, most modern managers emphasize teamwork and cooperation rather than discipline and order giving. Managers must give direction to their organisations, provide leadership, and decide how to use organisational resources to accomplish goals. Managers today must deal with conflict resolution, create trust in an atmosphere where trust has been badly shaken, and help create balances between work lives and family lives. A manager’s behaviour can impact productivity of his or her employees through the kind of leadership and vision him or her espouses. Productivity is an important aspect of every company because it measures the output of goods and services relative to the input of labor, capital, and equipment. The more productive an industry, the better its competitive position because its unit cost are lower. When productivity increases, businesses can pay higher wages without boosting inflation. Managers can cause an improvement in productivity by encouraging smart working instead of hardworking. Greater productivity benefits organisations directly, and it

...order to utilize even more business opportunities as our customer base expands rapidly. This will be a challenging process and I am sure our management team is up to the task. This is not to say that there will not be hurdles for even some adversity in the merger process. With that being said, our management team will be a critical cog in the integration process, and our attitudes, conduct, and behaviors will be scrutinized. We must set the example in supporting and driving this merger. Employees from both companies will be looking to management for direction, reassurance, and resolution. There will be many concerns that employees from both companies will have. The employees will fear for their jobs, their positions, their pay, and many other factors. It will be up to us to temper their fears while also managing expectations. We must also be sure to treat the EnviroTech employees fairly and equally. They will be the most anxious and will have more concerns, as it is their company that is being acquired. We must be sensitive to their fears of coming into a new environment and their fears of job security. We will also need to be aware of our own employees’ fears of job security as they may see the influx of EnviroTech workers as a possible threat to their positions. This will be another crucial step for us a management team, creating a cohesive, welcoming atmosphere for all involved. It is imperative that we set the right tone from the start as we...

To this point each of you has done a superb job in maintaining your professionalism and addressing issues as they come up. I want to commend you for your hard work and dedication to making this transition as seamless as possible. There are numerous issues we as a team will see, hear, and experience. These issues will be equally as important and confusing to your employees. I am excited about this merger because of the opportunities it will open for our growing company. Without getting into specifics, this merger will set InterClean up with more resources and expertise to break into a global market and offer services that will be unique to our company. This merger will give us a hand-up on our competition as it will set us apart as the industry leader and allow us to provide mass customizations aimed at our customers. I want to reiterate our responsibilities as supervisors for the five areas of the HRM system we have trained on in the past and they included: Staffing, Retention, Development, Adjustment, and Managing change (Cascio, 2006). Management Behavior Memo

...Management Behavior Memo Interclean is preparing to merge with EnviroTech between 90 to 180 days. By merging with EnviroTech our clients will be able to take advantage of not only the products, but also the solutions and services that will be provided. We have made the announcement to all of the employees regarding the merger and since doing so there have been some inconsistencies circulating. This is an exhilarating and receptive time for the company and must be approached in a fragile and professional manner. Unmanaged or caustic behavior of a manager can turn the best job into a dejected one. A negative manager can create an environment of distrust and hostility causing productivity to decrease within the company. The best way to inspire your employees is to center more on the positives relatively than the negatives. Look at your employee’s prospective and what separates them from other employees. As a administrator find ways to create a tension free environment that will inspire your employees to want to come to work on a daily basis. Give them the empowerment to make choices and open the lines of communications. In completing these steps you will most definitely make the merger between InterClean, Inc. and Enviro Tech a successful one. Manager’s Impact on Employee’s Productivity: Various studies have shown and proven as well as every day interactions with managers that employees’ performance and actions of the manager(s) have a harmonizing relationship. Just about...

Flex Time Case Analysis

...Time’ system was undertaken per suggestion from the Mayor. This implementation was said to be able to increase productivity along with a higher morale of work. President Cordova assigned the task of designing the plan and writing a memo to the Director of Personnel, Richard Sasche. The company was accustomed to the traditional work hours. The rush hour in the morning and evening period had always caused problems amongst the work force. The memo about the Flex Time plan was suggested to be posted for all employees to see. The memo informed workers about the plan and its guidelines. The Digital Display team was headed by Jim Hallora, who was the project coordinator. Jim worked at the firm for 27 years and is considered conservative with his thought and unsociable yet very argumentative whenever his mandates are criticized. He always exerts much authority over his workers. The Flex Time program is implemented and Jim disagrees and writes his own memo to be able to control and supervise his men. The Statement of the Problem In this case, many issues were uncovered but Ineffective Change Management was identified as the core problem. Implementing change is never easy, but ignoring the people’s side of change can be disastrous. Ineffective change management can be described as not receiving the desired effect when implementing change to work activities or...

...Portfolio In a modern day organization’s behavior, employees and suppliers have as much impact on the organization structure as customers and competitors have had in the past. Organizations are viewed as open systems, continually interacting with their environment and in dynamic state of temporary equilibrium as they adapt to environmental changes. Successful organizations are in constant state of flux in response to their environment, many companies are looking at media technologies as way to market their product and learn about their competitors. This presence could produce a large following depending on the interest in the content created and information shared. The change stemmed from the speed at which information travel in the media arena. In most cases, the information environment outside the organization is changing far more rapidly than the information environment internally. Customers, partners, prospects, and employees can find, access, and share information in a way that corporate infrastructure, security, culture, and policies inhibit. Organizations are having a difficult time responding to or taking advantage of – these new environments. The path of information regarding the organization is no longer just the role of the marketing department. Employees talk to customers, colleagues, and suppliers. They share their experiences, impressions and expectations regarding their jobs, the organization and management. The speed at which the information travels is beyond...
