Taylorism- if we do one thing it leads to another. People will be motivated to work if rewards n punishments are directly related to their performance. Drawbacks: Basis of crude attempts to motivate people by incentives often used as the implied rationale for performance related pay although this is seldom in effective monitor. By Taylor 1911

Hierarchy of needs- a hierarchy of five needs exists; physiological, safety social, esteem, self-fulfilment. Needs at a higher level only emerge when a lower need is satisfied. Drawbacks : focuses attention on the various needs that motivate people n the notion that a satisfied need is no longer a motivator. The concept of a hierarchy has no practical significance. By Maslow 1954
Goal theory- motivation will improve if people have demanding but agreed goals and receive feedback. By Latham and Locke 1979
Expectancy theory- effort depends on the likelihood that rewards will follow the efforts and that the reward will be worthwhile. Drawbacks: the key theory informing approaches to rewards: that there must be a link between effort and reward but the reward has to be achievable and worthwhile.

The pragmatic perspective also works between the management and fitting team because if they have a regular communication pattern it will stop the fitting team from being booked for two shifts at the same time the management team will be able to book the jobs according to the working times of each team. Pragmatic perspective focuses on how action and interdependence lead to outcomes with benefits to those involved, good communication is represented in action (Naylor, 2004). Motivation Methods

...Motivation Methods Tina Smigelski HCS/325 August 27, 2012 Shawn Matheson Motivation Methods There are many different types of motivation methods that a manager can implement that will assist in improving not only moral but quality and quantity of work performance from the employees. The motivational techniques should be ones that will improve the quality of work from the employees and at the same time allow the company to thrive. The following paper will discuss some of these types of motivation methods that as a manager, I will employ and how they will benefit the company. Motivational Method # 1 The first motivational method I would like to employ would be one of employee recognition for contributions to the company. I would like to have an idea box where employees can contribute ideas and every month two will be drawn from the box and voted on by the employees as to which one they would like to work on implementing. Once the vote was in, the person who contributed the idea would receive their name posted on the idea board as recognition for their idea and would receive a gift certificate to a local restaurant as a reward for their idea (Sykes, 2003-2012). They will also be allowed to help motivate the rest of the team by getting the idea started and assisting the manager in implementing the idea. By allowing the staff to come up with ideas that will benefit the company and allowing them to take part in putting the project together, it also makes them feel like more...

Motivation Methods

...Motivation Methods Paper  Motivation by definition means to give an incentive for action. Motivation is a large factor in either the success or failure for a company. Unfortunately, motivating people is not an exact science. There is no one way, no worksheet to fill out, or no set formula or calculation. Money may motivate one employee of a company. Someone else may appreciate personal recognition for performing a job well done or may work harder if he or she has a type of equity in the business. Employee motivation comes down to one basic ideal: discovering out what the employees want and finding a way to give it to them or to enable them to earn it. Motivation Methods

...Motivational Methods HCS 325 Motivational Methods Motivation, as explained, is "those factors that cause, channel, and sustain people's behavior" (Stoner & Freeman, p. 425). The job of a manager in a workplace is to get the things that need to be done done through their employees. Managers must motivate employees in order to do this. The needs of the employees must be fulfilled in order for them to accurately and effective do their work. Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs shows that people are motivated to fulfill basic needs such as food and water before moving onto other more complex needs such as personal esteem and feelings of accomplishment. With that being said, if a manager wants to motivate his employee, they will need to know where on Maslow’s pyramid the employee is. Edgar Huse & James Bowditch (1983, p 95) elaborated that an individual is most likely to be motivated when he or she has an opportunity to perform moderately challenging tasks in competitive situations in which performance depends on an important skill and feedback is given regarding performance. In this paper I will discuss three motivational methods and how they can affect an organization. The first motivational method that I will be discussing is goal-setting. It is pertinent that individuals and businesses have a set of goals that they want to accomplish, whether it is short-term or long-term goals. No matter what type of goal it is, it should be clear and precise. The acronym SMART should...

Motivation Methods Paper

...Motivational Methods Paper HCS 325 - Health Care Management Monday, September 19, 2011 Motivational Methods Paper Motivation has been defined as the "willingness to exert effort to achieve the organization's goals, conditioned by this effort's ability to satisfy individual needs" (Kamery, 2004, pp. 91-92). Motivation in a true sense is an art work in that it is a process of being able to change one's willingness to exert effort. This willingness sets the foundation of motivation. Over the course of this paper I will discuss three motivational methods job design, human needs, and based on process; a goal-setting theory in which managers can apply to create an environment for employees to exert their efforts in the workplace. I will also discuss how implementing such motivational methods can affect the organization. The first motivational method I will discuss is motivating through job design. Although monetary compensation often accounts for the motivation behind some individuals work efforts, it is not the sole motivator, but it may be because of self-satisfaction which motivates an individual. Motivating through job design permits creating or defining specific jobs or duties tailored to an individual or group of individuals. Managers often design jobs that encourage employees to become skilled, accurate, and efficient at their assigned task. This in itself is motivation. A sense of accomplishment leads to feeling satisfied. It is through this satisfaction...

...This essay will explore the importance of motivation in the work environment and the effective methods to maintain company morale along with increasing productivity. Managers are continually challenged to motivate a workforce to do two things. The first is to motivate employees to work toward helping the organization achieve its goals. The second is to motivate employees to work toward achieving their own personal goals. (Buchbinder 2012) Motivation can be a very powerful thing. It is used to give individuals accountability, direction, persistence and more effort in what they are doing or trying to achieve. Good leadership is vital in keeping employees motivated. Understanding what motivates people; managers can better understand their employees and what their needs are to be successful and productive. An employee who is highly motivated works hard at their job and shows enjoyment in what they are doing. As a health care manager you play a large role in how motivated your employees are in doing assigned tasks, reaching goals along with daily duties. Oftentimes when you read about motivation, the term engaged appears within the same context. In order to be motivated, employees must be engaged—and in order to be engaged, they must be motivated. Disengaged employees bring morale down and impact the organization’s bottom line. Employee Motivation : a Powerful New Method Critical Review

...Question 1 Sources of finance of high-tech firm There are a number of ways of raising finance for a business. The type of finance chosen depends on the nature of the business. Large organizations are able to use a wider variety of finance sources than are smaller ones. Sources of finance can be classified into internal sources (raised from within the organisation) and external (raised from an outside source). There are five internal sources of finance, owner’s investment, retained profits, sale of fixed assets, sale of stock and debt collection. There are also five external sources of finance, bank loan or overdraft, additional partners, share issue, leasing, hire purchase mortgage, trade credit and government grants. For a high-tech company, firstly, long-term sources of finance should be used. For example, owner’s investment should become the first fund of the company.
