Thus, the success of a project is determined by the assumptions that are set during the feasibility study process. Metro provides multiple benefits: reduction in air pollution, time saving to passengers, reduction in accidents, reduction in traffic congestion and fuel savings. There are incremental benefits and costs to a number of economic agents: government, private transporters, passengers, general public and unskilled labor. In some cases, a project is not profitable in economic terms; however, its feasibility is attributed to serve another …show more content…

alone is used by approximately 100,000 passengers. Ajani,
Itwari and Kalamana are other important railway stations within Nagpur. Nagpur Central is mainly used for long distance travel, whereas Ajini, Itwari station are used for commuting nearby areas such as Butibori. Ramtek etc. The city is the Divisional Head Quarters for the Central Railway and South East Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways.
The Airport handles around 4,000 passengers per day and caters to 6 Domestic Airlines connecting Nagpur to 12 domestic destinations including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Raipur etc and a few (connecting flights) International Airline to Sharjah, Singapore etc.

B) Vehicular traffic

There is a drastic rise in the procurement of vehicles in the city. According to the figures the vehicular population of Nagpur City in 2006 was 775950, has drastically gone to 1023549 in 31 March, 2009 and now in 31st march 2012 the number of vehicle is 1237099. From the table we can say that there are 967838 number of personal two wheeler (including motor cycles, scooter, mopeds) in 31st march 2011 and this figure is 1032607. 64769 number of vehicle increases in one year. It is the drastic increase rate of vehiocle. Other than two wheeler there are 99233 numbers of Motor Cars, 29727 numbers of Jeeps and 17149 number of auto rickshaws.
