The world as a whole is consistently changing at a rapid pace and those who do not welcome it are left behind. This hold true in almost any circumstance especially in the business market. This is why it is important for organizations to encourage continuous learning amongst all of its employees (Chron, 2014). A learning organization is defined as an entity who welcomes and collects knowledge to make the necessary changes to remain innovative enough evoke a powerful competitive edge over its competitors. This is done by creating an environment that encourages the employees to learn by using critical thinking, taking risks, and implementing new ideas. It is also important to understand those same employees are welcomed to learn from his or her mistakes then placing value on the employee’s contributions. It is from those learned mistakes, experiences, and experiments the organization has the ability to learn and move forward. After such, the management should disseminate the knowledge throughout the organization and establish what had been learned. ...Article Review MGT/426 March 18, 2015 Article Review Committing yourself to those that you do not know requires an open mind, heart and willingness to delve into emotions and feelings not typically found in a work environment. This trait is becoming more common within the workplace as it is a necessity to make the effort in order to understand and reciprocate typical thought processes, feelings and actions within a business institution. Article Summary Corey Jamison suggests a pattern of guidelines that shows how to make efforts efficiently for adjustment within a client based business. She stresses the importance of the assessment of organizational needs, and recognizes the identification of organization pattern; as well as the concept of living in a client system. She also points out the importance of understanding and appreciating the distinctive qualities and specific needs of working effective change within a client-organization. She refers to this process of coming to know an organization or business as “living in”. She suggests that "living in" a client system informs the change agents what they must be aware of in order to understand the target organization or business and their relevance to it. It also enables them the ability to discern the nuances of the system itself. Week 2 Case Analysis Article Review

...Complex Market Forces are challenging Appalachian Coal Mining Complex Market Forces are challenging Appalachian Coal Mining Article summary This paper describes how environmental forces affect the coal mining industry and plays an important role in our life. We will learn that environmental forces brings threats, uncertainty and opportunities to marketers and consumers . Although this paper focus on the coal mining industry, I believe that the main points focus on the environmental forces that marketer and consumers face every day. Appalachia’s coal communities were confronted by a confluence of market factors that developed over a period of years; resulting in numerous market factors, including low domestic and international prices for both thermal and metallurgical coal, soft natural gas prices, and increased imports—primarily from Colombia all contributing to the dwindling fortunes of coal mines in Appalachia. Low prices of natural gas combined with the air-quality benefits that come with burning gas rather than coal for electricity, have eroded coal’s position as the go-to energy source for power generation. Natural gas powered plants is now on the increase and it is projected that natural gas-fired plants will account for 73 percent of capacity additions through 2040, compared with just 1 percent for coal. Appalachian coal is more expensive than coal from other parts of the United States. The high cost of Appalachian is supplanted by...

It is easy to go to work daily and get caught in the motions. Change in a company can reawaken employees who have gone into autopilot mode; giving them a hope for the future and a new lease on their jobs. According to Change Leadership, “It is those organizations that have continually transformed themselves to meet the new business challenges that have endured, whilst the also-ran’s legacy is confined to the history books,” (Orridge, 2009, pp.xiii-xiv). It is equally easy to focus on an old idea so closely that you can miss the new ideas entirely. While it is unnerving to let go of an idea that you have been working on for years, it is better to consider the new ideas and move forward in that direction, than to be tied to an idea that just is not working. Finally, change inspires control. With new leadership tactics, comes the need for monitoring of the new systems. As we are monitoring standards and comparing them against ideal standards, we will begin to improve and...

In fact, that is one of behaviors of transformational leadership. According to our textbook, “Transformational leaders influence, inspire, move, and literally transform followers to achieve organizational goals beyond their self-interests (Burns, 1978), thus initiating and bringing about positive change,” (Weiss, 2011, p.51). There are four behaviors of transformational leadership. They are idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. Idealized influence is the charisma that can inspire followers, (Weiss, 2011). They will want to be like their leader filled with charm and will likely follow him/her because of that charm. Inspirational motivation is exactly what it sounds like. The leader will be able to inspire their followers toward completion of goals. Intellectual stimulation excites followers by pushing them to think outside of the norm. According to our textbook, “Intellectual stimulation can include such leadership behaviors and practices as brainstorming, challenging the beliefs and norms of the group to innovate and be creative, promoting critical thinking and problem solving to make the organization better, and persuading...

Still, according to Rue and Byars (2004) in Ch. 7 of Supervision: Key Link to Productivity, “failure to delegate is probably the most frequent reason that supervisors fail in their jobs” (p. 117). Some supervisors are reluctant to delegate at all; others do not quite know how to delegate, or they are unsure regarding which tasks should be delegated. Recall the basic steps in the delegation process from Ch. 7 of your text as you formulate your answers to this assignment. Cjs 210 Week 6 Checkpoint

...Case Attrition Victoria Jeter CJS/220 April 18, 2012 Jerry Shoate Case Attrition Case attrition is the failure of arrests to come to trail. Less than half of all felony arrests result in conviction. People who are arrested for a crime but do not get convicted are the case attrition. Case attrition results from the exercise of discretion by all system actors, both public and private, and from the nature of the criminal process itself. Several factors justify and require the exercise of discretion by public officials: (1) the practical inability of legislatures to specify in advance all of the conditions that properly bear on issues of criminal liability and the scope of criminal statutes, punishment, and criminal procedure (particularly when, as was noted earlier, basic goals and values often conflict with each other); (2) the need for case-specific assessments of the available evidence to convict an offender, as well as the available resources for investigation, conviction, and punishment of this and other offenders; (3) the desirability of taking into account local crime problems, community values, and the desires and needs of crime victims (The Systems In Operation, 2012). People who are involved in a crime, victims and witnesses sometime choose not to report a crime or even cooperate with detectives. Suspects and defendants also have choices: to exercise their legal rights, rather than waiving them; to supply information helpful in convicting other offenders; and......

Mgt/210 Week Seven

...Week Seven Andrew R. Reyna MGT/210 June 10, 2012 Kathy Willis Week Seven After completing exercise 15-3 in our text, I was rather astonished by the results. The test indicated that I was 84 percent of a leader and 16 percent of a supervisor. While completing this test some of the questions I found to rather hardlined and somewhat biased in the way they were presented and often times the questions were too black and white. Honestly, I find myself to be more of mixture between a leader and supervisor rather than a leader, nevertheless, I digress. I feel as though being a leader, as indicated by the test, the strengths that I would use to approach two of the supervisory responsibilities, would be fairness, patients, ability to find new ways to approach problems, gathering the correct resources, and my cunningness to overstep bureaucracy and see things for what they are. The two supervisory responsibilities that I use my strengths towards would be Demonstrating Communication and Improving Productivity as a Team. I feel as though, after taking the test, that I am a mixture of a leader and supervisor. My leadership consists of being able to approach things as a captain of a ship. This type of leadership holds many things sacred such as, honor, respect, making swift and calculating decisions and more importantly have the confidence of your crew or the people you lead. This type of leadership keeps the big picture constantly in front of him or her while at the same...
