...Ethical Simulation After taking part in the ethics game, a couple of issues were presented which needed to be addressed in me taking part as a Quality Control Manager in the G-Bio Sport Company. Decision making steps were used differently for each issue to have the ability to address the issue in the correct fashion. I used two different ethical perspectives, and two different ethical lenses to make my decisions in this simulation. Even using these perspectives, and lenses my management decisions were not affected or influenced throughout the simulation. This simulation does bring up valid insights in how issues come up in my business. The first of the ethical issues presented in the simulation was a product shipped out to the consumer market by G-Bio Sport was tainted with an elevated amount of GBS-Fibranafren. During the most recent QA testing 100% of the products shipped to consumer markets contains an elevated amount of GBS-Fibranafren. The amounts are far beneath the FDA regulations, but exceed the levels we have permitted internally. The risks to consumers being affected by the product are low, but consumers with compromised immune systems could have a slightly higher risk of reactions with continued use of the product. I know based off of the lab results that 100% of the batch shipped to the consumer market is tainted with GBS-Fibranafren. In the second scenario the issue was to decide whether to sell a product that does not meet U.S. safety requirements in a...

It describes decision making process of management in different market structures. The main objective of an organization is to maximize the profits in each type of market structure. Quasar Computers has done extensive research for the development of optical notebook. In the Year 2003, the company launched the first all-optical notebook computer branded as 'Neutron'. Neutron uses energy saving optical technology that established it as the market pioneer (Tata Interactive Systems, n.d.). The following pricing and other decisions are taken for this product in the different market structures. Pure Monopoly Quasar was the sole seller for the new and unique computer technology that established monopoly market structure for it. In the monopoly, profit maximization occurs at the point where marginal cost and marginal revenue equate to each other (Baumol & Blinder, 2005). In this scenario, Quasar objective was to maximize the profits because of its monopolistic situation caused by the patent rights on all-optical technology valid for three years from 2003. Quasar was able to...

Week 3 Discussion Paper Mgt/230 Uop

...Group Analysis Paper Wk 3 The CEO of Xerox Anne Mulcahy I believe used, concentration for her strategy. She didn’t acquire new companies outside of her industry. She dropped ones that were failing and focused on the ones that were more profitable. She threw out the old idea of expensive printers to high-end digital color printers. She also poured money into research and development to come up with new products to put them over their competitors. Her decisions were sound because she brought a company back from the brink of bankruptcy and turned it back into a thriving business. CEO of Coca-Cola Neville Isdell also used concentration and possibly concentric diversification for his strategy. He was brought back to Coke to help make the company’s fizzling profits stable again. Coke was struggling with Pepsi and if they should branch out to snack foods like their competitor had. Instead, he wanted to stay true to their soft drink origin. Their strategy for growth is to go global as aggressively as possible. Mr. Isdell’s strategy was spot on because Coke is a global force in the beverage industry. I know when I lived in Japan, I saw Coke vending machines everywhere! These machines could house both hot and cold beverages! Now that’s an idea to bring to America! With over 80 beverages, Coke offers I forsee them being in the forefront of business in this particular industry. VF Corp CEO Mackey McDonald’s style is more of concentric diversification because his company obtains...

Our shareholders are the number one reason why corporations excel and strive. Without them, businesses would doom as we see so much in this tough economy. During the simulation exercise, a decision was necessary when addressing two informed issues. G-Biosport was an ethical company that unfortunately went through unforeseen circumstances. The company selling domestically and internationally did not have to meet prior approvals from the Federal Drug Administration (FDA). The product left their facilities and the problem was made aware of the contaminant, after tests were run, which consumed 100% of their received samples of this known impurity. As being the quality manager, ethical decisions are warranted with proper decision making and planning to remedy the fluke. The simulation required decisions to be fostered, which sincerely are...

In the simulation game, two dilemmas were presented. First the laboratory communicated to Quality Management that the analysis has shown that there is contaminant in the GBS – Fibranafren, which is an ingredient used in the majority of the company products. The results from the laboratory arrived after the products were already released and after taking into consideration the facts that everything indicates that the products are contaminated. However, the contamination is bellow FDA standards, and it would only affect a limited group of people with continued use of the product.
