Team Strategy Plan

1. Complete the following table to address the creation of teams at Riordan Manufacturing.

Strategy | Strengths | Weaknesses | Team size | When there are smaller teams it deems to be more effective; Making sure there are enough team members to get the job done effectively. | When there are larger teams at bay then it usually becomes a problem; Larger teams sometimes lack accountability. | Distribution of roles and diversity | This is a better way to understand the teams weaknesses and strengths. | Need to be more focused on differences for higher level of success. | The personality and the ability of team members | There’s a limit to what certain team members can do. | The performance, abilities and skills of each team members. | Leadership/ Structure | Workload must be shared between all team members; Must learn to delegate responsibility. | This structure may not be likely for self managed teams; Functionality may lack because no one agrees. | Preferences of team members | Gives options; may have high and low performing team members | There may be a lack of team participation; threat to team morale. |

2. Identify the team formation strategy that is most suitable for Riordan Manufacturing, and provide the rationale for the decision. Your response should be at least 100 words.

The team formation strategy that is most suitable for Riordan Manufacturing is the personality and the ability of the team members. Using the formation strategy to group together team members would give team members a accord of knowledge, their skills and abilities. It is very important to have the right mixture of employees to create the most effective team. The production employees and new employees will have established employees and new employees. By use of grouping based on abilities and personality the workload will be distributed evenly so that performance will not be based on weakest links of the team.

3. What potential barriers may arise during team formation? How will you address these barriers? Your response should be at least 100 words.

There are potential barriers that might arise during team formation. The barriers are lack of communication, lack of trust, background differences, and different work styles. These barriers will be address to ensure decrease in team collaboration is not disrupted. The new team formation to create new designed product will consist of a variation of divisional employees along with new employees, to address the issues it is important to create training sessions. Training sessions will contain tools and resources to build trust and to get to know one another. Once the team players learn background information and work styles of other employees through assessments and games the project to build new design will be implemented with a higher success rate.

4. What measures will be put in place to evaluate if the team is operating successfully? Your response should be at least 100 words.

The team will show progress of building new project once each member finds his or her stride. To ensure that the team members stay on track during manufacturing, the manager will motivate throughout project and be available to ensure that all members stay on right track. Performance evaluations will be conducted often to show each member of the team is performing to his or her abilities. Weaknesses will be observed and training will be provided to strengthen their skills. Another way to evaluate the team progress is to establish performance goals for the team to be met. When goals are met then the team is operating successfully and when goals are not met, management will have to find weak links in the team to initiate a design for improvement.
