From reading the story of Genesis and comparing Michelangelo’s famous artistic paintings. Reading and observing each detail, I have concluded that the story of Genesis reveals the means of how God created the havens and earth and the paintings of Michelangelo has justified each creation to the details of the story.
The first creation described how God created the world by bringing chaos. In this state the world was considered to be preexistent; which is said to mean that God didn’t create the world out of just nothing. “The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface over the surface of the deep” (Genesis 1:2) In this case it is clear that God had a goal to bring goodness into the world and from my understanding it has to be in a state of bad before any goodness may come. The Lord God said “it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18) Adam needed a companion, so God made him fall into a deep sleep. He took one of Adams ribs and formed Eve out of it. In this painting, it is shown eve emerging from Adams side. Although I understand the story of Adam and Eve, I find it very interesting why one would make Eve emerging from Adams side. It would follow the story in the bible but I would think of it to be a love scene type.
In the next picture, Adam and Eve are being deprived from each other in the name of God and it has given me to feel awkward. “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.(Genesis 3:7) In the painting they didn’t seem to be alright, one seems to be moving faster than the other. So it made me think that God wants them to resist the temptations that they would want to
