Good afternoon. I am Anh and welcome to the Media watch seminar. On today's seminar, we will be investigating into the life of a singer and actress, who has recently been engaged to Liam Hemsworth and has made her comeback with a positive image, Miley Cyrus. Does “Hannah Montana” ring a bell to you? It sure does to any teenage girl as Miley Cyrus once used to be American sweetheart playing Hannah Montana in the eponymous Disney series with her squeaky-clean image in the media. After leaving her Disney cocoon for a while, she still makes her appearance in the public as a singer, however, whatever the identities that the media have constructed her as, Miley Cyrus is nowhere near the same squeaky-clean girl she used to be.

With the aim to reverse the readers’ feeling toward Miley, a reasonable sourcing of one of her fan has effectively defend her from the notoriety: “I’m glad to see another woman who’s comfortable in her own skin and knows her body isn’t a taboo”. It shows that her way of dress simply represents gender equality in terms of dress code. The idea is reinforced with supporting evidence of what is acceptable regarding gender within the society, where women’s bodies are highly sexualized. The readers are led to believe that Miley has an important impact of sexism in the media. Furthermore, Miley herself state that, “I feel like I’m one of the biggest feminists in the worlds”, which is an influential sourcing that helps persuade the readers into trusting her
