Did you witness the terriorist act on Parris this past weekend??? Do you feel safe in America at this time? Well im Desmond and today we are going to talk about reasons we should not cut the Military Defense Budget. The 2016 national defense budget is 534 billion. I know that is a lot of money but can we really put a number on our safty. I got that fiqure from the Department of Defense website under fiscal year 2016 which started on Oct 1,2015 There are a lot of reasons we should maintain this budget but im going to highlight 3 of them. According to the Department of Defense website the US has a total 1,486,000 millitary personal on active duty with that in mind if we make cuts to the budget we could lose key personal in military ranks that could hurt us in some areas like intelligence, special forces and aviation. According to Global Firepower.com and business insider.com the United States has the best Trained Military personal in the World . My second argument is that in order to keep this elite status and to protect America we must maintain the budget and continue to train at a top level. Based on the current and past terrorist acts throughout the World if we make any cuts to the current budget we could lose the proper equipment that we use to aid military personal who need these tools to help while protecting this great country. The Equipment is a vidail in the fight to prevent terrorism and enhancing security in the united states. In wake of the recent attacks in Parris and with the threat of an attack and anytime we must remain on alert but we most also continue to maintain our military force with the proper number of personal and continue our elite training with the best possible equipment available so we

...Controversy in the Military For the longest time homosexuals have had to deal with discrimination everywhere, including the military. When Bill Clinton ran for president, he gave a promise to the gays he would allow them to fight, but changed his stance when elected and did not follow through on his promise. Instead Clinton issued the policy Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell that still hindered the homosexual’s chance of getting into the military. Finally, now after years of discrimination, a Representative of the House wrote a bill that will allow homosexuals the right to join and fight in the armed forces. The H.R. 1283 Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2009 states homosexuals can join the military and should pass for the benefit of all those who serve the armed forces. Official discrimination against homosexuals began during World War II. Before World War II, it was only African Americans who had a hard time joining the military, but then the military started becoming stricter on who can join and who cannot. The military started making people take a psychological test, where anyone who wanted to join the military had to get tested by a psychiatrist (Katel). If people claimed they were gay, they could not join the armed forces. Discrimination continued in every war America has fought until Bill Clinton came along. When Clinton ran for president, he guaranteed to lift the ban that the military established on not allowing homosexuals the right to fight. To get around his campaign...

...At this time the United States of America does not required men to serve in the military like other countries? Well I have wondered why myself to. But I am going to point out three reasons on why I think men should have to serve in this essay. One being men need to learn discipline. Two we need to keep this country that we live in safe and secured. And lastly to boost our economy and put more people to work. Men should serve in the military to lean discipline. Men these day have no respect for there parents let alone the cops. The military will help train them to respect people above them. Not only that it will help them with work ethic from the discipline point of view to be able to do their job and work hard at doing it. They will break you down and build you back up through training and physical training. If you screw up they will teach you how to act and then make you do some kind of physical training so it will sink you to your head. It is vital in our country to keep it protected to keep our freedoms that our fore fathers fought for and all the men and women before us. There for all men should be required to serve in the military. We are in a world of terrorism in this day and age, for example September 11, 2001 automatically comes to mind when I think of terrorism. Therefore men shouldn’t have to be asked to join they should just want to join if they want to keep their freedoms that they have. Where are the jobs in this country? Where is the money in this country...

...Have you ever wonder what it is like to be in the boots of a US Service Member during their deployment phase? Also have you ever wonder what it was like to fight in a combat zone and the trials and tribulation they face when the deployment goes on? Well I’m going to tell you the three phases of a deployment. First you start with the ceremony, the lonely flight and finally the trials and tribulations of the combat zone. As you well know I’m no longer in the military but I going to tell you these phases through my eyes when I was in the army during my combat tour in Afghanistan from June 2010 to June 2011. It all started when I first sergeant told us what time to be at the company so we can have our early formation before we head to the Green Ramp. If you don’t know what Green Ramp is, it’s the final holding area that separates the soldiers and the plane. The reason why they call it that because it’s a small ramp that leads to the plane and it has green lands on the sides of the ramp. The formation time was 0500 and the weather was so nice that I could hear all the early birds chirping away. The formation time came and the first sergeant held accountability for all the fellow enlisted and officers that were going with us to Afghanistan. When we all found out what time we were heading to Green Ramp, we all decided that this was going to be a very long day. One of my soldiers came up to me and asks will this be a steadfast deployment and I told him I sure hope so. When it was finally...

Military Journey

...“Left, left, left right left!” There I was marching down the scorching hot asphalt in the middle of July, summer of 2009 alongside my flight. First week of hell, basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, rethinking what I got myself into. Should I have just gone to college instead of volunteering for the service or should I be here serving the country? Week one seemed like the longest week I’ve ever experienced. Here we are in the second week of this prison like training. Staff sergeant (SSgt) Feete shouts “Wake up, you nasties,” it was finally time to get our uniforms issued from supply. Standing in an enormous room along the wall where they threw different parts of our uniforms at us. Last we receive our blouse with nothing on it besides the boring ABU pattern. They told us that we weren’t good enough and hadn’t earned the right to wear our name and Air Force patch on the uniforms. Feeling like I have been living in the barracks for eternity, even though it was only week three. Finally getting into the routine and starting to understand the military lifestyle. Day after day we are learning new tools we will be able to use in this career. Week three was all about self-aid buddy care, where we learn to treat our own wounds and provide first response to combat related wounds to other airmen. SSgt Feete comes in the class room: “Hope y’all aren’t as stupid as you all look, test time ladies.” We had to take a written, verbal and practical exam to pass the week or we...

Military Spending

...Government Limit the Military Spending? There is a product, each country only have one. To buy it, everybody in this country should dig their pocket. This product is named military spending. With the large amounts of research and the development of high technology weapons, regional warming of local wars, armed conflicts, and intensified arms race, the series of a new arms race, military deployment and new high-growth military spending boost are being performed on the international stage. However, governments are concerned about seeking “peace via war”. As the arms trade is the major cause of suffering for human beings, governments should limit their military spending; nobody in the world wants war. Under such rhetoric combined with powerful lobbying of the military industries, governments are intentionally aiding military, because the military spending is an important indicator to reflect the dimension of a country’s military strength, and also a major factor of the military strength. As it is a serious issue in the world and so important for every country, every country values this issue as a primary one and pay special attention on it. As each country has different situation and government systems, there are different views towards military spending. Some people suggest increasing the military spending while some people suggest governments to cut the military spending. Some people think that government should keep increasing the military spending, the reasons...

Military Deployments

...Affects of Multiple Deployments on Military Service Members and Families during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF): Time Period 2001-2012 Gina Pagano-Briglin, MSW University of the Incarnate Word 3 December 2012 I. Introduction Since September 11, 2001, there have been significant changes in the security measures of air travel, financial security, but one of the most significant changes is that of military operations. The United States began combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan on October 7, 2001 in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks officially referred to as Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Since October 2001, about 1.9 million service members have been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq (Asbury & Martin, 2011). OEF/OIF has many unique features with regard to the military forces being sent to fight oversees. The all-volunteer military has experienced multiple deployments to the combat areas, with an increased use of the National Guard and Reserve Components, higher numbers of deployed women and parents of young children, and increases in the number of service members surviving severe injuries and other side effects from combat (Shaw & Hector, 2010). Service members may be subjected to more than one deployment. Studies show that overall about 40% of current military service members have been deployed more than once, with over one quarter serving...

Fighting In The Military

...The military has, and always will be, the sole binding agent that holds our nation together. There is no braver act one can do than risk his or her life to defend the ground which our founding fathers and many other people have and will continue to fight for. Often today I find myself surrounded by people far too involved in technology; phones, internet, social media in general, all brilliant inventions yet all so detrimental to the young minds of my peers. Often we forget how lucky we are to be able to call America our home and know what it means to be truly free. Too often the sacrifices men and women have made and continue to make everyday in order to call this land ours have faded away; lost in the pages of history textbooks or dead in stories that were never passed down through the generations. It is sad to say that in my generation I feel young adults have...

Suicides in the Military

...Suicides in the Military Over the Past 10 Years The most common myths about suicide in the military have changed since the events of September 11, 2001. Previously, it was a white male, between the age of 18-25, with one or more of the following factors: relationship issues, money problems, and job satisfaction. Since the war in Afghanistan stared on Sep 13, 2001, the age has increased from 25 to 44, race does not necessarily matter anymore, and add the pressures of not knowing what is going to happen and always wondering when/if “your time is up”. Along with this, add in the stress of preparing for your deployment, the stress of leaving your family, the stress of ensuring everyone is properly taken care of if the inevitable happens, and the stress of possibly, or actually, losing subordinates or friends to enemy gunfire or Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), just to name a few. More males over the age of 30, who have had at least one deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq and have seen some heavy fighting or have lost friends to enemy mortars/rockets on main operating bases, have committed or attempted to commit suicide in the past five years, then ever before. After all the stress of combat, coming home to a life of no danger of snipers or IEDs, mortar/rocket attacks to your base, causes even more stress then people can even imagine. “Flashbacks”, hyper-vigilance, suspicion, and the fear of loud noises are also a major concern and cause undue stress to the sevicemember...

Mcdonaldization In The Military

...I believe the process of bureaucratization has both further and hindered the progress of this nation. Therefore, if you consider the US military, you will find plenty of examples of how it falls into “Peter Principle” around how a soldier gets promoted till they must find some dependence amongst their subordinates to meet his mission quota. Two examples of positive reinforcement within the military’s bureaucracy are: - Every soldier is taught the same trade within their desired profession following in line with “McDonaldization” of the military around each soldier know what the other one is capable of demonstrating. - Soldiers are more than willing to become like “cogs in a machine” to achieve a single desired goal of completing their mission....

Dying In The Military

...John 3:16 states “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son and whoever believes shall not perish but have eternal life.” This scripture has a great deal of power to it. I associate the above scripture to the military. The military has fought for us so countless times. They have repeatedly laid their life on hold just for Americans. When they could be spending time with their family and children. Many of my peers in school have lost someone special as a casualty of war. Although I have not lost anyone personally, the effects of American soldiers dying in war hits home to our community. While I was researching, I heard a song about a lady who woke up to someone at the door. Unfortunately, the stranger was emissary from England...

Military Salary

...associated with the military is the amount of pay soldiers get. Many think that for the sacrifices they make they are not earning what they should. Ultimately, a person will have to determine for themselves if the amount given is fair. In a perfect world military persons should receive the salaries of actors or ball players, especially since it’s the military man or woman that is actually doing something productive for society. But since this won’t happen, people will just have to live with the pay standards that the government has set up for its servicemen. But cultivating a career in the military is still one of the most stable and rewarding choices one can make. There are two ways one can find out how much they will make doing a certain job in the military. The first most common way is looking at a military pay chart. These are easily accessible on the Web or at a recruitment office. The document lists all of the grades a person could be a part of along with their corresponding salaries. The salaries only consider one’s base pay, which is what a person receives before things are taken out or allowances are added. The second way a person can determine how much they will make is by using a military pay calculator. These are programs also accessible through the Web that allow a potential soldier a more realistic picture of what they will make. The military pay calculator deducts the types of expenses the military would deduct along with adding allotments. The military pay calculator...

Military Bearing

...Military Bearings In the United States Army, military bearing is the root in which every service member practices in order to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout ones military careers. Army regulations, The Articles of the UCMJ, as well as our own Soldiers Creed illustrate how a military service member should conduct themselves on a daily basis, on and off duty. All military soldiers regardless of branch have an obligation to conduct themselves with dignity and in such a manner as to reflect credit on the military service that they are in. Dignity exists only where the individual has a proper sense of his or her own worth and of the worthiness of their cause. The person who possesses true dignity also will respect the dignity of others. Military bearing is dignity within military relationships. It exists when the individual is proud of his military organization and of there. Dependability is a major aspect of military bearing. Without dependability, one can neither perform properly in the workspace nor be depended upon by their coworkers, or chain of command to carry out their military duties properly. A military member is required to be punctual, and reliable. Lack of this in a service member not only hinders the mission of the command but of the entire Army. Honor, Courage, and Commitment, are three key values that are instilled in each soldiers life the instant that the oath of enlistment is pledged. Honor is the integrity that one takes upon their self in order...
