Rizal: Hidden Beneath the Surface

...Nikki Vanessa V. Novales July 20, 2012 # 2012-42443 PI 10 E2-6R Rizal: Hidden Beneath The Surface A Reaction Paper On “Bayaning 3rd World” “Who is Rizal?” If you ask this question to any Filipino, they will most likely say, “He is our national hero” Or “He’s the person stamped on our 1-peso coin”. But is that all he really is? The movie “Bayaning 3rd World” is about two film makers trying to make a movie about Rizal. They found out, however, that this would not be an easy task, for their subject is a very complicated man. Rather than focusing on a single issue about Rizal, they decided to make a detective story about Rizal being the country’s national hero. They tackled several issues but focused mainly on Rizal’s retraction and Josephine Bracken. The movie was meant to be educational, but unlike most documentaries, “Bayaning 3rd World” is definitely not boring. The documentary was presented in a comical way, so that viewers of all ages would be able to understand it and grasp its meaning. I was confused at first because I didn’t know what the “Retraction Controversy” was and the two film makers started having these long conversations about it without explaining it to the viewers. But when I found out what it was all about, following the flow of the story became easy. Another controversy that arose was about Josephine Bracken, on whether she and Rizal were married or not. It was implied that if they were indeed married, then Rizal retracted...

The other employees include those in maintenance, sales/purchasing, and bookkeeping. Shipping can take between the hours of 9AM and 5 PM, with 5PM being the shipping cut off time. The receiving hours can take place between 7:30 and 4:00. The foreman assigns employees to certain tasks throughout the business day. When employees are hired from their first start date, they are given a specific task. However, during the course of the business day the foreman may change job responsibilities. An example of change in job duties would be if one department needs help. So if the foreman sees that his pickers need help, he can get the others from different departments to assist them. The amount of workers needed depends on the workload for that day. On average, a work hour can see about 652 books picked. The work day can see over 5600 books picked during the course of work. When orders are picked, employees must sign off. The reason for this is to help in the event someone needs to be held accountable. The......

Dfsd the topic of e-books vs. paper books, most of us will readily agree that the spread of e-books let people’s life more and more convenient. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of environmental protection. Whereas some are convinced that e-books are greener than traditional books, others maintain that e-books do not size up to our expectations. Nowadays, with the development of science technology, the chance that we use science are more and more. Furthermore, the convenience and the light of electronic products attract lots of young people. According to the survey, a majority of e-books users are under age 30. On the other hand, some adults are more likely to read printed books. E-reader vs. paper book is a provocative question, which lots of author also make own point about. And I have chosen two articles that mainly talk about the environment of e-books and paper books in the following. In the article” E-books Are Not Greener than Paper Books”, in the author Debra.A.Miller’s view is, “the basic tenet of sustainability is the key to the problem about E-reader vs. paper book”. The author reminded us that we should think about the depletion about the materials of electronic products, shipping cost, fuel and the energy which use to recycle them. Then, the author reported some conclusions which from her colleague - Mr.Green, at Sierra Magazine. Systems Development Life Cycle

...Cycle (SDLC) in my bookstore if I were the owner of Book Worms, our local faith-based bookstore. Book Worm currently has a limited amount of inventory on hand. It relies on a catalog service for some of its product offering. This product is not stocked in the store but is accessed through the bookstores web site. This is the only bookstore in a 120 mile radius, and yet they concentrate on a small selection of religious books. To broaden the client base of the Book Worm bookstore, I will utilize the systems development life cycle to explore new systems that would allow me to broaden the scope of my product in a manner that would increase gross margin. The first step in SDLC is to define the system that needs to be implemented. This system as designed by our meager staff of experts will include software that will allow the Book Worm to work in conjunction with other book sellers such as Squadron, Waldpole, Motorbooks, etc. These book sellers will often allow access to their inventory by brick-and-mortar stores that are stockiest of their titles. Once this partnership is established, the available inventory of the bookstore would increase many fold (Kroenke, 2012). The online and kiosk ordering system would have several requirements. The second step in SDLC will be to analyze those requirements and refine the system definition (Kroenke, 2012). The system would be required to show the entire stock of the publishers that Book Worm would offer. This stock would be seamlessly......

Short Essay on Angeology and Satanology

...ground for these equally opposing forces and identifies them as light and darkness. In this definition we see God being light and Satan being darkness as equal forces in eternal hostile battle. This form of dualism is in contradiction as to what Scripture teaches. Scripture starts with God creating not only the earth but the heavens as well. (Gen.1:1) In the book of Genesis we see God as the creator of all. In the ending of Scripture God claims victory over Satan and Satan is cast into the lake fire to suffer eternal torment.(Rev. 20:10). In Isaiah 14:12-14, the prophet addresses Satan as the one fallen from heaven and cast down to earth for his prideful sins against God. In Ezekiel 28: 12-17 God addresses Satan as the King of Tyre, through the prophet Ezekiel. He addresses him as having been an anointed guardian cherub. ...this meant disobedience to God and a total disconnect from God’s presence and the mosaic covenant.2 With all the confusion and turmoil in the land, the Israelites decided they should have a king “to judge us like all the nations” (1Sam 8:5). This action is contrary to the divine will for Israel and the result of the worldly desire of Israel to be like other peoples. 3 The basic difficulty is the nature of the kingship that the elders have in view. Kingships like that of the other nations would be dynastic, bureaucratic, tightly regulated, and thus in direct 1. ...God and this leads to people living a life that does not please God. The belief that everyone bears God’s image will affect the way I relate with people and in my vocation. The book of Genesis records the account of creation and clearly provides evidence that God created mankind in His own image. Genesis 1:27 records that God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. The word image in the scripture simply means likeness or resemblance (Dunn & Rogerson, 2003, pg. 98). With this belief, I should be able to see God’s own image when I look at other people as a believer. This should therefore automatically affect the way I relate and do things. As a marketer, I should be fair when selling products and should not cheat people for financial benefits. Cheating people is the same as cheating God Himself. In the same manner, being fair and truthful when marketing to everyone is a sign of being faithful to God Himself. According to Psalms 33:6-9, the heavens were made by the breath of God’s mouth, and also the earth and all its habitats. This shows that the existence of mankind on earth is as a result of God’s breath. Furthermore, the book of Genesis explains that God took time to mold man and gave him the breath of life. Additionally, the gospel books show that Jesus came as a man but bearing the image of God. This shows how...

...The iPad is a device with a colored display, wifi and 3G connections, functionality from over 250,000 applications available on Apple’s apps store, and with the ability to deliver video, music, games, etc. The main Challenges facing apple is how to convince the potential users that they need this new product with the functionality that iPads provide. This is the same challenges faced by the iPhone when it was first announced. As it turned out, the iPhone was a smashing success that decimated the sales of traditional cell phones through the world. If iPads become a hit, it will force many existing businesses to change their business models significantly. These companies may need to stop investing in their traditional delivery platforms (like newsprint) and increase their investments in the new digital platform. (More examples are mentioned in the case study questions) Nowadays, Apple understands that it needs high quality content from all the type of media it offers on its devices to be truly successful. The old attitude of Apple (“Rip, burn, distribute”), which were designed to sell devices are a thing of the past. In this case of disruptive technology, even the disruptors have been forced to change their behavior. 2 Case Study Questions: Q1. Evaluate the impact of the iPad using Porter’s competitive forces model. Due to the strong position of Apple, it can govern the tablet market but still there are many factors which are shown in the porter model that...

...understanding of the book, the genre in which the book was written in and also the time period and who the book was addressed to. Many believe the author of the book of Acts had written one complete volume of work that was broken into 2 different parts. The book of Acts is the fifth book of the New Testament. It traces the Growth of the early church. It begins with the ascension of Jesus and concludes with Paul in Rome during his first imprisonment. Though the book of Luke and the Acts of the Apostle are very similar, the author does not name himself in either book. Neither Luke or Acts allows us to determine directly or in directly who the Author is.( Kummel) But Fernando also says “Stylistically and Structurally the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostle are so closely related that they have to be assigned to the same author. (pp.21) There is very little doubt that the Book of Acts and the Gospel of Luke come from the same author but the debate is about who that author is. While the writer of Luke and Acts is anonymous, there is evidence the points to the authorship of these books. Fernando states “The external evidence available for the authorship of Acts, gleaned from the writings of the church in the first few centuries, is unanimous that the author was Luke. When we look at the internal evidence, it points toward the author’s identity. Once readers assume Luke and Acts come from the same pen, then they can begin to look for evidence within these......

It is in the publishing and media industries where its disruptive impact will first be felt. The iPad and similar devices (including the Kindle Reader) will force many existing media businesses to change their business models significantly. These companies may need to stop investing in their traditional delivery platforms (like newsprint) and increase their investments in the new digital platform. The iPad will spur people to watch TV on the go, rather than their television set at home, and to read their books, newspapers, and magazines online rather than in print.
