1. Introduction: Give a narrative description of the process of getting to the theater, purchasing the ticket, and attending the play.

The way my shedule worked out, I was able to attend the final preformance of The Misanthrope. On Sunday afternoon, I drove down to campus and parked in the lot behind the main building, closer than my previous vists. I walked to the box office and purchased my ticket with time to spare and a long line forming behind me. As i entered the main theatre i was pleased to see a professional looking setup wih high rows and comfortable seats. i found my row and seat as it was printed on the ticket, sitting next to a mother and daughter. I sat there, somewhat uncomfortable sitting next to strangers with many open seats but it was assigned. Later, i found out seating was general when the family moved. It didnt distract at all from the enjoyment i was about to have, but it made for an interesting start.

2. Theater Description: size, stage type, seating arrangement, etc.

The theater was located inside Withycombe Hall on Oregon State University Campus. It was the main theater so the seating was rather large. The capacity was probably around 400-500 full, however there were a little over 100 when i attended. The seats were typical theater seats, so it was as comfortable as anyone would expect, offerng move room and less obstructed views than in movie theaters. The seats were set around a thrust stage which was rather large and consisted of props set in upper-class France in the 17th century. I back drop was lit to show the time of day outside again the well lit interior.

3. Character list and plot summary: Give a list of the characters with a brief plot summary.

Alceste, a French aristocrat, discusses with his friend Philinte about the society. Alceste insists that truth and honesty are the highest importance of interactions, while Philinte insists that one must be done so with with manners as to not offend others. This is the cause behind Alceste's current lawsuit. Oronte enters trying to befriend Alceste to which he denys him in order to know each other first. When Alceste critiques a sonnet Oronte wrote, he insults him with honesty. Alceste visits his crush Célimène, and criticizes her for entertaining too many men. Célimène's servant, Basque, enters with Acaste and Clitandre, two men courting Célimène. All of the charcters excluding Alceste gather to gossip about their friends, laughing and demeaning, causing Alceste to come in and object to the lies and hypocrisy. Alceste is then sued by Oronte because of the comments about his poem. Eventually Alceste and Oronte confront Célimène, both demanding that she choose between them for her love. Célimène's trouble grow as a letter written by her is read where she insults all of her suitors. Soon, only Alceste remains wanting her. When she refuses to do his only request Alceste leaves like the others, allowing Philinte and Éliante to be together. they in turn open the possiblitiy of Alceste forgiving and Célimène.

4. Costumes: Characterize and describe in as much detail the costumes worn by the major and minor character.:

The costumes of all of the characters are set in 17th century upper-class France. The play is existential and made to be ridiculous so the costumes protrayed that as well. the men were in full makeup and wigs with outrageous matching outfits with glitter. the clothes projected wealth and fabulousness. For the women, the dresses were just as extravagant with wigs growing after every scene. they eventually evolve to having lights inside the tall hair. All of the colors were bright and full, showing how much money they have.

5. Staging and Prop Summary: Describe the stage set and props used in as much detail as possible:

On the stage, there was a large doorway towards the left, a balcony towards the right, and a small foutain that represents outside of the house on the far right. The interior was filled with a chair, love seat, piano, and a small table with alcohol. The outside of the house had a backdrop that was lit to show the time of day; light blue at some points and dark night with bright stars during others. The characters enters mainly from the front door but in some instances the back porch door was used as well to the outside foutain where conversations took place. The couches were used as te characters gossiped, drank wine off of the table, and played the piano.

6. Acting: Describe the acting (clarity and expressiveness of voice, naturalness of action, effectiveness of blocking and movement, etc.)

The acting was outrageous and over the top. that is the way the director wanted it. the charcters all spoke clearly and loudly, with a fluxuating tone. the gasps of the characters, the laughs and giggles all helped to put the story over the top and bring about humor. the acting seemed natural and the characters flowed from location to location as a typical conversation would permit someone. the actors played off of eachother very well and used each others lines to take the humor and story to an outrageous and highly entertaining level.

7. Evaluation: Respond to the play based on your analysis in sections 2-6: What aspect of the performances did you especially like and why? What aspect could have used improvement?

I loved the play. It was my favorite of the one's i've seen thur far in this class. The reason for my enjoyment came down to the story line and the acting. each character played their part so well and so over the top while still showing some connectedness that it provided a great deal of humor. the story line of the play was also very interesting. i liked the way the characters played their parts of the typical society, being hypocritical of eachother and lying for the sake of others while really they are lying for their own convinence. every aspect of the play worked well together and turned out to be a interesting, entertaing and enjoyable afternoon. I didnt see much of anything that could have been improved.

8. Questions: Provide at least three specific questions about the production that you would like to ask the director (then try to ask them when she speaks to the class on Monday!).

I didn't have many questions for the director. i though it was all done very well wit no flaws that i could notice. the only question i would have is the extent the director had with the over the top acting. In large, were the actors told to be even more extravagant or to tone it down at all?

Masks

...The Misanthrope – Moliere The Masks We Wear Moral character types emerged during the latter stages of Greek literature, specifically in the new comedy of Menander; preceded by the creation of Theophrastus’ stock characters, which were based on observation of everyday life. First introduced to audiences in 1666, Moliere staged The Misanthrope in the upper-class salon of Celimene. Essentially, the salon is a microcosm of the royal court. In between duties at Louis XIV’s court, the elite townspeople gathered to converse, trade compliments, exchange insults, and scrutinize one another. French society was defined by courtly norms, which, amusingly were being refined on a constant basis. The Misanthrope, often referred to as not only a comedy of manners, but a comedy of character, as well, was theater that functioned as a reflection of its spectators in order to enact social change. Moliere based his plays on French farce and commedia dell’arte. Plots of deception interspersed with objective play represented French farce, while commedia dell’arte had set situations, unrehearsed dialogue, and actors in masks representing a specific character type. The combination of the two was perfectly aligned in The Misanthrope as Moliere utilized the stock characters to introduce stylized production and dialogue. By placing the stock characters into a society of his own time with dialogue reflective of his present day circumstances, Moliere created individuality in his characters that allowed...

If you were doing a simple research paper you could write about performance reviews based on research alone. In this Sr Paper you must determine the state of the art based on your Literature Review. Then you will give the background of the problem and discuss it. This must all lead to two Courses of Action (COAs; solutions) that are tied to your title and problem. You need a “product” such as a process, a plan, a strategy, a program – something that can be recommended and implemented. Problem Statement (if not finalized post a draft – focus on the "pain.") The problem is that after initial training employees are not being reviewed for current performance. Suggest that after this initial statement you add something more about the problem. Brief Topic Overview The casino is experiencing a high turnover rate of employees because after their initial training they are put on the floor without any further review. In the handbook employees are supposed to have a review after 90 days but they are not being implemented. This leaves the casino with under qualified employees that eventually terminate their employment due to not feeling able to meet the high demands. Hard Side of Change Management 1

...paid to the hard factors first, transformation programs will break down before the soft elements come into play. * A study by Harvard Business Review revealed that outcome (success or failure) of a change program depends on four hard factors * Duration * Integrity * Commitment * Effort Page 2 – DURATION * Refers to the project duration, particularly the time between project reviews. * It is assumed that the longer a program, the more likely it is to fail. * Window of opportunity will close, key objectives will be forgotten, key supporters will lose enthusiasm are some of the reasons for this assumption. * Although, contrary to popular perception, a long project that is reviewed frequently, is more likely to succeed than a short project that is not reviewed frequently. * Time between reviews is more critical than a project’s life span. Adjunct Nursing Faculty

...consequence of employing unqualified adjunct faculty is student dissatisfaction with their clinical learning experience. In turn, this results in less-than-favorable adjunct clinical instructor evaluation. The purpose of the appreciative inquiry is to collect data on the teaching skills of new and adjunct clinical instructors. This is important, because it is the mission of the university and the nursing program to deliver quality education to all students. It is also important to retain excellent clinical instructors for the nursing program’s accreditation status. The best way to do this is to ensure that all clinical instructors are provided with the necessary information to succeed in clinical rotations. The clinical peer review evaluation plan is designed to collect participant’s stories and includes an observation phase. The participants are the new and adjunct clinical instructors, and the reviewers are clinical nurse instructors who are certified nurse educators. The key evaluation topics were based on the eight competencies for nurse educators found in the National League for Nursing (NLN). Through the appreciative interview, the strengths and wishes of the clinical faculty will be recorded. Included in this information will be the data collected from the clinical observation and the reflection phase of the evaluation. The evaluation plan was designed by the clinical certified nurse educators. The NLN’s eight nurse educator competencies were designed...
