I have been in the work force for over 20 years. I’ve worked in several different fields which include retail, law firm, postal service to insurance industry. I’ve been working in the insurance industry for the last seven years specializing in P&C claims with a focus on customer service. The environment I currently work in provides ample opportunity to deal directly with customers from all over the country. It is also a fast paced environment that is consistently changing which means adapting to the changes and quickly. Helping people each day work through their insurance claims takes patience, empathy and knowledge of the company and its policies. There are also licensing requirements that are required depending on what state the company wants me to work with. This is something done on my own time and depending on competitive I want to be within the company I could get licensed in each state.

Companies I Would Like To Work For

I’ve been working in customer service my entire career and intend to stay in that field to some extent. Since being in the insurance industry I have acquired licensees required to handle claims in various states. I company that I would interested in working for would be USAA. Outside of having a great customer rating they also have a good reputation from their employees. Already having insurance education and licensing is in my favor and means the company doesn’t have to take the time to provide that
The second company I’m interested in is not really a certain company but specifically the wine industry. Although it’s completely out of the field I currently work in I help out a friend that has their own winery. I’ve learned a lot about the process throughout the last couple of years and I live very close to Napa Valley where a wealth of wineries provide opportunities for possible employment.
The third choice for a company I would interested in is Jelly Belly. Again this company is out of my current field of insurance but my customer service background would come in handy. Jelly Belly is one of the largest factories in the town I currently live in. After I obtain my Bachelor’s degree I think that I would be more competitive for a job at this particular company. They manufacture candy and ship it all over the world. They are well known for their exotic flavors.
-------------------------------------------------

Strategies for Contacting These Companies
-------------------------------------------------
Making yourself stand out from others interested in the same position is the hardest part. The internet and social media plays a big role in networking within your personal life and in business. LinkedIn is a great resource when trying to connect to people in various fields of business. It’s an opportunity to connect with people within the company and it would get my name out there along with my profile. Facebook and Twitter also provide an opportunity to connect with people within the company but not on the same professional level. The internet also provides the opportunity to apply to any of the above noted companies online,
-------------------------------------------------
Going to events that the companies hold is a great way to mingle with people within the company. I know that Jelly Belly and most wineries have various events throughout the year and you have plenty of opportunity to get to know those in various positions within the company. It also gives me the opportunity to see how the company works and how the public perceives them.
-------------------------------------------------
Just applying for the job in a traditional way and if an interview is given then you have the opportunity to establish a relationship within the H.R. department. This is a positive because if they like you but you don’t get the job then you can express the desire to work with the company and they may keep you in mind if a new position becomes available.
-------------------------------------------------
I think the main thing is that you have to learn to sell yourself and come up with what brand you want yourself to be. Does your brand fit the company you want to work for? I personally think that knowing your strengths and weakness is a must in the business world. Being prepared to sell yourself at any given moment to a company representative if even at an event, it’s good to have an idea of what these traits are and knowing how to discuss them so it promotes why those skills would work for that particular company.

...* * * * * * * * * * * Marketing Mix Paper MKT/421 August 1, 2011 Fritz Beiermeister * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The Marketing Mix What is marketing? The meaning that many marketing managers gain knowledge of as they start out in the marketing profession is: Putting the right product in the right location (place), at the right price, at the right time. The success of an organization depends on the success of marketing. Accounting, Finance, operations, and other functions of business will not matter if there is not a demand for the organization’s product or service (Kotler, 2009). The term “marketing mix” was coined by Neil Borden back in 1953 during his American Marketing Association (AMA) presidential speech. The marketing mix include the controllable variables the company puts together to satisfy the target group (Perreault, 2009). The consumer is not a part of the marketing mix, but should be the target of any organization’s marketing campaign. In 1960, Jerome McCarthy introduced the notion of the 4Ps – Price, product, place, and promotion marketing mix [ (Marketing Mix 4P's and 5P's by Jerome McCarthy, 2010) ]. For several years these 4P’s have been in use as the chief basis on which a marketing plan is based. All of the four P’s are needed for a successful marketing mix and campaign. Generally......

...Marketing Plan Erik Wohler, Adnan Otovic, and Joshua Adamson MKT/421 – Marketing March 28, 2013 R. Scott Bluemel Marketing Plan: Phase I Overview of the Organization The entertainment industry is a vastly changing business, although the ideology has stayed the same throughout history. Since the earliest documented cases started appearing, stories and music were used to overcome and surpass dark times in cultures throughout the world. In more recent historical examples, during the great depression, the largest break through for the entertainment industry began to show by way of movies, musicals, radio and early television. Movies really began to dawn as a way to escape the realities of everyday life and live vicariously in a world of wonder and enchantment, or love and drama, for those who had more serious worries in the real world. With the progression of technology, movies have become a literal escape, with millions of followers across the globe. The movie industry has made such dramatic leaps in technology that the demand for movies and theaters has grown largely over the past 20 years. At Regal Cinemas, being one of the largest franchises across the globe, business has been remarkable. “Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC) operates the largest and most geographically diverse theatre circuit in the United States, consisting of 6,862 screens in 538 theatres in 38 states and the District of Columbia as of February 21, 2013, with over 211 million attendees for......

Defining Marketing Mkt 421

...Defining Marketing Rebecca Isfan University of Phoenix MKT-421 Instructor Scott Cohen Defining Marketing Definition of Marketing Marketing is the way in which organizations reach customers and interact with them, and the way that they develop strategies to sell products and grow their business. In a way, marketing is a form of representation of the “face” of a company. An organization's performance requires a good job of marketing to achieve positive results company-wide. Even though marketing depicts the face of a company; marketing is more complex than this description suggests on its own. “Marketing is everywhere. Formally or informally, people and organizations engage in a vast number of activities that we could call marketing. Good marketing has become an increasingly vital ingredient for business success. And marketing profoundly affects our day-to-day lives. It is embedded in everything we do—from the clothes we wear, to the Web sites we click on, to the ads we see” (Philip Kotler, 2009). Marketing means more to a company than just trying to sell their products or services. “In fact, the aim of marketing is to identify customers’ needs and meet those needs so well that the product almost 'sells itself.' This is true whether the product is a physical good, a service, or even an idea. If the whole marketing job has been done well, customers don’t need much persuading. They should be ready to buy. And after they buy, they’ll be satisfied and ready to buy......

...Personal Branding Plan Paper xxxxxx MKT/421 July 28, 2014 xxxxxxx Personal Branding Plan I have over twelve years of cleaning experience from starting out as a dishwasher to cleaning in hospitals, hotels, and residential buildings. From those experiences I have found I enjoy interacting with people and making their stay, where ever that might be, more enjoyable. Yes, it can make finding new jobs, outside the cleaning industry, more difficult; however, I’m always up for a new challenge. I do not intend to stay in the cleaning industry forever. I would rather work in an industry that specializes in helping make memories for people and their families. Working in hospitals, hotels, and restaurants I have developed an understanding of what people expect out of their stays. Especially when they are usually spending a large amount of money, people want to feel special, important, and recognized. I want to be a part of all of that. Companies That Make an Impression on Me To be honest, I have never thought about the companies I would like to work for until this week. Knowing that I want to be able to interact with people the three companies I would enjoy working for would be Xanterra Parks & Resorts, the Carnival Cruise line or InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Each of these companies is about making an enjoyable experience for people that stay with them and for employees to making memories along the way. If you want to make a...

Most of my career was spent in the manufacturing industry. In the beginning, for approximately 5 years, I was a receptionist, handling the most basic of responsibilities. Later began a stretch of time that I worked in an administration type of position as a planner and raw material control. This position allowed me to learn more of the industry, receiving the raw material, assigning it to appropriate work orders, and maintaining the flow of production on the raw material end. Finally, I moved into the area of accounting performing accounts payable for the freight side of a manufacturing company for around 7 years, which is where I found my desire to further my career. Those years of working in the accounting area has given me the confidence to move forward and push my career further. Personal Branding

...Personal Branding MKT/421 March 16, 2015 Personal Branding For many years branding has been used for creating and maintaining business and their reputations. As technology evolves so does the term branding, where it is also used to identify a person’s foundation. “Personal branding is the process of developing a mark or career. You use this mark to express and communicate your skills, personality and values” (Lake, n.d.). Building a personal brand one must evaluate and assess his or her image and see oneself in the ways others are and will find that individual. An individual must develop and enhance ones’ professional presence and making sure that this image reflects and benefits this individual in the world of diversity. “A strong personal brand can yield tremendous ROI whether you are working with an organization or leading one” (Forbes, 2014). When a resume is selected, a recruiter takes just a few minutes to review the information that is on the resume. In order to be a part of that process ones’ resume must possess the quality and experience that is required for the position. In addition, the resume should reflect the job description and ones’ experience should be in alignment as well. In this paper I will discuss my background, identify three to four companies I would love to work for in the future, my reasoning and determining the best methods for contacting and engaging recruiters. Background Having a personal brand is just as important as......

...Personal Plan Branding Paper Marcela Ortega MKT/421 Monday, March 9, 2015 Monique Georges Personal Plan Branding Paper I have 17 years’ experience in the Customer Service industry. One of the reasons why I enjoy working so much in this field is because of the challenges that come with it. Working with the public is not always an easy task, but it is a challenge that I welcome and actually look forward to on a daily basis. I enjoy the interaction and making people’s experience pleasant. My experience has allowed me to have a better understanding of what customers want as well as what their needs are. The cosmetics industry has long been an industry that I want to work in. I am frequently shopping for the latest cosmetics as well as browsing popular makeup retailers like Sephora, Ulta, and QVC. Some could say I have an addiction to makeup but I like to call it staying up to date with the latest advancements in the makeup industry. One of my favorite brands is a company that I would love to work for and that is Bare Minerals. As much as I enjoy playing and experimenting with makeup and color, what I would really like is to not work as a makeup artist, but in the corporate office at Bare Minerals. In a period when transportation occurred primarily by trains, boats, and carriages, luggage underwent a significant amount of wear. ...Personal Branding Plan Josh Barnett MKT/421 April 21, 2015 Wendy Bullock Personal Branding Plan Work ethic, reliability, and results.  These are three of the important character traits that I feel separate me from other candidates when it comes to competing for a job.  The time that I spent in the military is what I credit a large part of my work ethic to.  From Day one in the military you are required to do everything to the best of your ability and to continue to do so until the task is completed.  Even as a child, I was told that that if I say am going to do something or be somewhere, then I am to keep my word and follow through with every commitment.  Once again the military further hammered in that mindset and even introduced me to the phrase; “if you are 15 minutes early, you are on time.  If you are on time, you are late.”  Both of these influences have molded me to value the characteristic of being reliable not only by presence but by carrying my own weight as well.  The third trait that I feel solidifies my value as an employee is my ability to produce results.  Of course the first two characteristics play a role in my ability to get results but I have always had a competitive nature as well.  Coming from an athletic background and excelling at sports my whole life, I developed a hunger to be the best at whatever it was that I was doing.   If I were to make a list of dream companies that I would like to work for, the first job that would have to be at the......
