New market entries are pretty self-explanatory; they are the companies who have just joined a market. For example when Under Armour entered the clothing and shoes market after their competitor, Nike. Under Armour knew Nike was the king in this market and had to very determined to make a name for them. Substitute products are the products people buy if a certain one is becoming too expensive. This product may be an off-brand, but completes the same tasks. Customers are the people who buy the products. They have a huge role in each company’s success. The company has to keep their customers happy with their products because they know the customers ultimately have the control where they want to spend their money. The suppliers are companies who provide products to firms like, Wal-Mart or Target. The more suppliers a firm has, the more power they have to determine the prices they want. For example, if Wal-Mart wants to buy a pallet full of car batteries at $400 a pallet and only one of the suppliers offer that price and the rest are higher, they will choose the cheapest price and won’t work with the other

...with whether or not to sell shares to the public market.' If they made the decision to take the company public, what options did Google have for selling those shares? Was the traditional form of book-building through an investment bank necessarily the best course of action? As large investment banks were courting Google's potentially enormous business, management had to evaluate the different options available for a company ready to move forward. Ultimately, Google chose to sell its stock through W.R. Hambrecht + Co.'s OpenIPO, which was modeled on auction-based offering formats in France, Japan and elsewhere. In 2004, Hambrecht's track record of success was mixed at best and even today the future of this IPO format in the United States is far from certain. ...Final Marketing Plan MKT/421 February 20, 2014 Robert Thompson Final Marketing Plan for Pepsi GO Tea The history of Pepsi-Cola dates back to 1902 when a young pharmacist named Caleb Bradham began experimenting with mixing a combination of juice, spices, and syrups to create a new and refreshing drink to satisfy his customers. In these efforts, he succeeded beyond all expectations inventing the beverage know today as Pepsi-Cola. Our goal is to be the leading producer of healthy products to include our new Go-Tea. Pepsi explored the market and will now launch a new tea for its customers. The Pepsi Go-Tea “will offer a healthier choice of tea containing low sodium, no fat, carbonation, or sugars which is a major concern for the consumer (Tea Fact Sheet, 2013).” Pepsi will make its first priority to appease to the taste of the consumer and to ensure a healthy drink is produced in the most environmentally safe containers. Team B will introduce a new tea, named “Pepsi GO Tea.” Although the Brisk product is a subsidiary of PepsiCo, the company is looking to launch a new product named Pepsi Go Tea. This new tea will be different because the oils that produce the flavor for the teas normally diminish over time. PepsiCo will use loose tea leaves opposed to rudimentary tea bags. The loose tea leaves enable room for the tea leaves to swell and expand with room to infuse their flavors. In contrast, tea bags do not render such an option based...

...DOLAT CAPITAL Indian IT Sector India Research Billion Dollar Dream...!!! Sr. Analyst: Rahul Jain Tel : +9122 4096 9754 E-mail: rahul@dolatcapital.com December 21, 2012 DOLAT CAPITAL December 21, 2012 Int en tio na lly Le ft B lan k 2 DOLAT CAPITAL ”A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step” - Lao-tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher Billion Dollar Dream The Indian IT Services sector, estimated at USD 90bn, has predominantly focused on the global markets which generate more than 75% of revenues. The industry has spread far and wide with over four thousand players comprising of global MNCs, Indian players, Captives and small scale set ups. As is natural for any sector, the top five have consolidated to garner a significant share of the revenues ( 37%) while the top ten have taken 41% share of the total revenues. This has primarily been driven by the ability to scale and offer multiple service capability. The smaller players have been either de rated by circumstances, and hence gone down the margin curve or ended up taking bets that have gone the wrong direction. This trend over the last few years has led to a significant divergence in the size and structure of the Indian IT services sector – there are players with size of USD 2-10 bn range competing with the global players, and then we have a set of relatively smaller service providers in the revenue size of sub USD 500 mn still around. And some of these now are emerging into credible...

Apple's Future

...9 -7 1 6 -4 0 1 JUNE 25, 2015 DAVID B. YOFFIE ERIC BALDWIN Apple’s Future: Apple Watch, Apple TV, and/or Apple Car? Since the release of the iPod in 2001, Apple had been probably the most successful technology company in the world. It revolutionized three businesses in the next 10 years: music, smartphones, and tablets. When Steve Jobs died in 2011, it was up to his successor, Tim Cook, to revolutionize the next set of industries. In 2015, Cook appeared to have three potential targets: watches (wearables), television, and cars. All three were bets on highly uncertain futures. Watches were off to a promising start in their first quarter of shipments, but it was far too early to declare victory. Television seemed ripe for disruption, but many firms had tried and failed to change the TV landscape. And cars, of course, represented the biggest opportunity as well as the biggest leap for Apple. Financially, Tim Cook and his team were unconstrained: Apple was the most profitable company on the planet in the fourth quarter of 2014, generating $18 billion in net income (Exhibit 1). However, Steve Jobs had famously said that Apple’s success came “from saying no to 1,000 things to make sure we don’t get on the wrong track or try to do too much. We’re always thinking about new markets we could enter, but it’s only by saying no that you can concentrate on the things that are really important.”1 The big questions for Tim Cook and his team included: Were watches, TVs,...
