What is the definition of marketing? What are the benefits and drawbacks of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization? Do you think that marketing should be included as part of the sales organization within a company? Explain why or why not.

What is the definition of marketing?

“Marketing is about identifying and meeting human and social needs. One of the shortest good definitions of marketing is meeting needs profitably” (Kotler & Keller, 2009, p. 5). Further, Perrault, Cannon, and McCarthy (2009) define marketing as performing activities that fulfill objectives by anticipating customer needs to supply need satisfying goods, services, and the like.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization?

The benefit of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization is ultimately increased sales. Marketing can have great ideas for a product; however, you have to know how to get people to buy. A combined effort of marketing and sales can prove successful.

The drawback of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization is coordination and cooperation. “…the sales force thinks product managers set prices or sale quotas “too high”; or the advertising director and a brand manager cannot agree on an advertising campaign” (Kotler & Keller, 2009, p. 24). All members of an organization must work in cohesion in order to excel.

Do you think that marketing should be included as part of the sales organization within a company? Explain why or why not.

Absolutely. I feel that marketing should be included as part of the sales organization within a company. Marketing and Sales are intertwined; Marketing brings potential customer to the sales department. In large selling organizations it is difficult to define where marketing ends and sales…...

...Marketing class 421- UOP Week one- Discussion question number two- answered; hope this will help you guys while struggling with work and schooling DQ2: Assume you are the newly hired marketing manager of a company. As you spend time with other peer marketing managers, you realize that the company doesn’t place an emphasis on planning within the marketing organization. Why is planning important in marketing? What are the essential components of a marketing plan? How would you convince your supervisor that the marketing department should produce formal marketing plans? Answers to the question above: Planning is important part of the marketing strategy in most cases because when it comes to an organization that doesn’t see the value in such a program, it’s usually a one shot deal to prove its profitability or worth. The essential components of a marketing plan are as follows: strengthen the brand, measuring marketing effectiveness, drive new product development, gather customer insights, utilizing new marketing technology to target this new group of consumers One of the ways in which I would convince my supervisor that a marketing department should produce formal marketing plans is by showing them the various missed opportunities. After all, the whole point of a business is to build upon those opportunities and build greater customer equity. “Customer equity refers to the expected earnings from a firm’s current or prospective customers.” Conducting a S.W.O.T.......

...Week 1 DQ #1 What are the major objectives of financial reporting? Who are the users of financial reporting? What type of information will each user group need? Response 1 Financial reporting establishes a foundation for financial accounting and reporting. The objectives of financial reporting provide information that is useful to creditors, investors, and any other external users in making rational decisions that involve investments, and credits. Financial reporting helps present and potential investors, creditors, and any other external users to assess the amounts, timing, and uncertainty of prospective cash receipts from dividends, interest, proceeds from a sale, redemption, and maturity of securities and loans. Another objective of financial reporting is that enterprise resources are claims to resources and changes allocation is the process determining the cost money that is allocated among competing interest. A company will provide to managers information of financial statements such as the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, stockholders equity statements. ...Alternative Disputes Resolutions or (ADRs) as they are commonly called can be used to settle disputes between individuals, small and large businesses, government, and the general public. If I am understanding what I am reading, an example could be: When a person passes and there is no will the children of that estate my dispute how it should be divided to the point that a mediator/lawyer is appointed to see that everyone receives an equal amount of the estate saving the parties money and time by not having it tied up in the courts. The advantages of an ADR • Often quicker than a trial • An ADR is less expensive than normal legal costs • It can preserve a business relationship • Not as much time involved • Privacy possibility of no public record The Disadvantages of an ADR • An ADR may not be suitable for everyone • If the ADR process is binding, the parties normally give up most court protections, including a decision by a judge or jury under formal rules of evidence and procedure, and review for legal error by an appellate court. • ADR may not be effective if it takes place before the parties have sufficient information to resolve the dispute. • The neutral may charge a fee for his or her services. If the dispute is not resolved through ADR, the parties may then have to face the usual and traditional costs, such as attorney's fees and expert fees. • Lawsuits must be brought within specified periods of time, known as Statutes of Limitations. Parties must be...

...Marketing MKT/421 Introduction Marketing is a very unique process that enables limitless methods or variations for an entity to appeal to a particular target market as well as to deter from a particular market. Marketing is used in more than just business; The kinds of clothes an individual wears and the attitude a person portrays can be used to market him or herself to the public for many reasons: Maybe to attract a woman a man is attracted to, possibly to impress the president of a company a person is interviewing for, and even to just create a base of his or her character in which other people will judge him or her by. Marketing is everywhere from the business side of the spectrum to relationships people have with one another. Marketing Marketing is a very diverse term and can be defined in various ways. One way to define marketing can be that it is the performance of activities that seek to accomplish an organization’s objectives by anticipating customer or client needs and directing a flow of needs satisfying goods and services from producer to customer or client (Perreault, W. D. 2011). One example is Mcdonalds catering to a more health conscious market. They introduced many new products to meet the changing consumer needs, and when a consumer wanted food that was healthier, Mcdonalds introduced the McSalad Shaker which was a salad in a cup and also appealed to consumers who had little time to spare and ate on-the-go. Eventually...

Support or reject the common image of advertising as merely a method of persuading individuals to buy unnecessary items. Justify your position with three to five specific examples. I am a supporter for common image advertising. Many companies took years to build their image. 1. Coca Colar, one of the oldest brand and image in business. Should they change their image?
