Dear Robin,
I have meticulously scrutinized your dilemma and have developed some discrete strategies to pursuit your victory. Let us first audit and compare your current position with that of the Sherriff. Beginning with the Sheriff, your opponent is growing stronger and accumulating more money by the day. Furthermore Will Scarlett asserts that his men are growing vastly in numbers and are expecting to expeditiously planning an assault. You and your administration, on the other hand, are experiencing a stringency of resources and revenues. The growing band of your army is creating maintenance complications and exceeding the food capacity of the forest. Luckily I have advised an option of two strategies to help ameliorate your position and ultimately overcome the Sherriff.
My grandfather once cited: “An enemy of an enemy is a friend.” Having been a very atrocious regiment, the Sheriff and his allies are likely to possess opponents who seek vengeance and justice. You must promptly seek to external forces, and form alliances with bands that possess a mutual interest of usurping the Sheriff. According to my knowledge, your opponent maintains warm ties with Prince John, who is unsurprisingly malicious like the Sheriff. Despite a powerful foe at court he is quite unpopular among the Barons, who demand their previous leader, King Richard, back in throne. King Richard has been wrongly imprisoned in Austria and the Barons are in pursuit of rescuing their king. Your option is to ally with the Barons and help them pursue their king. Consequently both, you and the king, would conjoin armies and deliver a “moral blow” to the fortress. This merger will dramatically strengthen your military position and fill up necessary resources. The Barons will contribute the financials to maintain your army and will help pay for the rising costs of food. There are, of course,

Religion, Diversity, and Hip-Hop

...The impact of religion is sometimes apparent in many different forms of art. One type of artistic expression that religion is sometimes expressed in is music. Whether it is specifically Christian-based music or secular, musicians of all genres may eventually write a song or sing about their religious beliefs at some point. There is a very broad spectrum of diversity in music. People from all around the world with different backgrounds, race, religion, and style can express themselves in this form. Growing up I was exposed to many different genres of music. Hip-hop, which is classified as a subculture that originated from an African American community in the 1970’s, has always been intriguing to me and is a huge part of who I am. There are four elements of Hip-Hop; rapping, DJing, break-dancing, and graffiti. I will be focusing on the music aspect of Hip-Hop and the large impact religion has on some of these artists that perform Hip-Hop music. Over the years, Hip-Hop music has gained a bad reputation. Many people find the lyrics to be offensive, obscene, or even racist. A very small portion of it is, but most of it is the complete opposite. Matthew Paul Miller, better known by his Hebrew stage name Matisyahu, is known for the positive messages he delivers through his reggae-rap style music. Matisyahu says his Jewish spirituality has most, if not everything to do with the way he writes music. In his song “Jerusalem”, he raps about ancient history and religious acts that took...

Hiphop

...As Tupac Shakur points out in his song “ Keep Ya Head Up” he writes “when he tells you you ain't nuttin' don't believe him and if he can't learn to love you you should leave him” In those lyrics Tupac Shakur identifies the lack of respect that men give women but it is also reminding a woman her self-value. Many people believe that Hip Hop has the ability to connect with the soul. Word Press recently conducted a study and concluded that women are objectified and mistreated in Hip Hop lyrics (Cundiff 13). Hip hop’s derogatory lyrics have effected women’s relationships, body image and self-esteem. Hip Hop lyrics contacting explicit content about women have effected their relationships with men. Some women are infatuated with the Hip Hop artist and the money, cars and lifestyle that they talk about in their lyrics. Women can be oblivious by the lyrics that are being said in Hip Hop songs/ music. They are conforming as well as accepting for Hip Hop artist to degrade them which hinders their relationship with a man by allowing them to be insulting. “Hip Hop is a man’s game”- (Hurt06) Sug Knight , meaning that you have to play the role to get the part, in other words to receive a record deal. Rapper Kanye West wrote a song called “I’m in It”. “Black girl sippin white wine put my fist in her like a civil rights sign” He is clearly stating that it is acceptable to be physically violent with a woman. This type of attitude is what can lead up to abusive relationships. Statistics have...

Silent

...2-24-11 ASL 102 Reaction Paper 1 I read an article about a deaf hip hop group called Silent Mob. What I learned when reading this article is that deaf people like to play music just like any hearing person does. They may not be able to hear it or hear it well but they can feel it. They pump the bass up extra loud so that they are able to feel the beet. What surprised me is that one of the members of Silent Mob James L. Taylor III took music classes and sang in the gospel quire. I also learned that when deaf rappers rap they move their arms wildly to the music but aren’t always in sync with the music. Their hand movements spell out the words to those who sign. What also surprised me is that deaf people like music and actually have groups. I wouldn’t expect that since they are unable to hear I wouldn’t expect them to play music on a radio or play music themselves like having their own group. When I read the title of the article I thought that the article was going to be about how deaf people like music and dancing, something of that sort. I didn’t expect it to be about an actual hip hop group made up of deaf individuals. That was pretty interesting. When reading this article titled “Hip Hop For The Deaf And Def” I was excited because I just didn’t expect there to be deaf music groups. I thought it was really cool that James L. Taylor III grew up in a bad area but turned his life around with this deaf hip hop group. I also hope that more people become aware of groups...

Kanye West Thesis

... Kanye West will receive an honorary degree from the Art Institute of Chicago in May. "I was a gifted artist since age five and won national competitions and went to art school. I'm actually getting an honorary doctorate on May 5th from the Art Institute of Chicago," the rapper revealed during an interview with Clique. West famously highlighted dropping out of college with his 2004 album The College Dropout. The rapper attended the American Academy of Art and Chicago State University before he left the school to pursue a career in music. While is Kanye West is adorned by his fans, the rapper can't seem to win over the heart of President Barack Obama. After West's Taylor Swift incident at the MTV Awards, the president responded to the ordeal by calling the rapper a jackass. It seems as if West and President Obama have since moved on from the name-calling situation. During a recent appearance at Oxford University, the rapper revealed that he understands his role as being a servant. West also said he understands that his voice has the power to reach a lot of people, and he can also use his voice to build relationships with amazing individuals as well. The rapper dropped a bombshell when he said he calls President Obama "out of the blue." He also said the president calls his home phone. When West made these bold statements, most people believed the rapper. Besides, the odds of the president responding to West's claim seemed a bit far-fetched. Luckily, President Obama made an...

A Journal for My Literature Class

...Shaquisha Barrow September 26, 2012 Journal #10: The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven Intro to Lit 1. I got very confused when I was searching for the original “Lone Ranger and Tonto” because I saw different versions of it and I wasn’t sure which was which. I did however, find the definition of “Tonto”, which means silly or dumb and “Ke-mo sah-bee which means trusty scout. I believe that the narrator was Tonto in society’s eyes. The narrator couldn’t even go into a certain part of town without people calling the police because he looks “suspicious”, or walk in a store to get a few snacks without people being scared of him. I believe that heaven represents America and the “American dream” which, to me, is to have freedom, happiness, and wealth. The narrator along with the other Native Americans on the reservation, symbolizes Tonto, he trusts his girlfriend (The Lone Ranger), to help him better himself and reach the American dream but instead she, along with help from others, knock him down and stop him from reaching his dream. The woman that he loved was supposed to be there to help him and encourage him but instead they always clashed and argued. The narrator said that they never physically fought, but she always knew what to say to hurt him. Based on my experiences, most of the people we attach ourselves to, know how to hurt us the most. I think that society as a whole was a symbol of the Lone Ranger. The narrator just wanted to live his life like a regular American...

Symbolism In The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven

...The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven is a novel written by Sherman Alexie. The novel consists of short stories about Native Americans' lives. Sherman Alexie uses symbolism throughout the novel. In The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, women--including Victor's mother, the aunt in "The Fun House," and Norma Many Horses--are symbols of strength. In the novel The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, Victor's mother is one of the women who symbolizes strength. In the chapter "Jimi Hendrix," when Victor's father wrecked his bike, he was in the hospital for two months, and Victor's mother visited him every day until he recovered although she and Victor's father were split up. The narrator, Victor, states that "even though my mother didn't want to be married to him anymore and his wreck didn't change her mind about that, she still came to see him every day" (33). The narrator explained that it wasn't necessary for Victor's mother to go to the hospital every day to visit Victor's father, but that she did it out of the goodness of her heart. When Victor's mother went to visit Victor's father at the hospital, it symbolized that his mother was a strong figure. Although she and Victor's father were split up, she still felt the need to be by his side and to support him through his recovery. Women, like Victor's mother, are symbols of strength in the novel The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. Another woman who symbolizes strength in The Lone Ranger and Tonto...

And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven 'And Separation Anxiety'

...“The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven” by Sherman Alexie and “Separation Anxiety” by Evie Shockley discuss the complications of identity while living in worlds of different cultures. Victor is the main character of “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven” and he has an identity crisis throughout the story since he lives in the city but is from the Indian reservation. He identifies not only as a Native American, but he lives in a community surrounded by mostly Caucasian people which makes him feel out of place. He feels that he does not belong in the reservation and also does not belong in the big city. The narrator, Peaches, in “Separation Anxiety” identifies herself as an African American and lives in a community where everyone is African American this leads her to know who she is without the same confusion that Victor has. She lives the history and culture the same as everyone around her. She does decide to leave the community in order to give her dance a future and show other communities who she is. Both of these stories have a theme of identity through history, culture, and societal pressures but the main character has alternate views of their identity. Victor in “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven” and Peaches in “Separation Anxiety” are discovering their identity while being involved in two different societies, but Victor has more difficulty identifying which society he belongs to as he has pieces of himself in both. In “The Lone Ranger and Tonto...
