Corporate America Racism

I walk into the office in the IT industry; everyone looks at me as I walk to my desk. My boss comes over and tells me I made a mistake in my code, the application is not working. He says we need this fixed before out next meeting. As I’m checking the codes, I realize that the glitch that needs to be fixed has nothing to do with me John did not enter in his codes correctly. My boss come back over, “hey Lisa we are going to have to move you to this table in table in the corner, we need more space in the office area for renovations”. “Sure” I said “I’ll move my desk by the end of the day with everyone else”, “Oh no Lisa it would be just you sitting in the corner”. I face racism every day at work, and on job interviews. It seems it hard for corporate America to believe that I have a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University and I have 15 years of experience developing web sites. In the IT industry there are not a lot of black women in this field and the view that are in this industry has to prove their intelligence, and skills.

College students Driving and still suspect

My friends and I are driving on our way to the movies. We wanted to hang out before we all left to go back to college. It’s 5:00pm, we are driving in my friends Destini’s SUV we just pulled out the my driveway and only went a block before the police pulls us over. Officer is there a problem? Yeah the two men in the back were not wearing seat belts, and you did not put your blinkers on when you made a right at the light. The guys in the back get out the car, we have to check you and the car to make sure there are no drugs in the car, or weapons. Officer we were only going to movies, and we only wanted to spend time together before we all went off to college. Do not talk we have to make sure there no drugs or weapons. After an hour of embarrassment the cops finally let us go, and gave our friends in the backseat tickets for not wearing seatbelts. Of course being young African American women and men it is hard for the police to believe you are educated college students. The police just thinks all black kids are full of drugs and violence.

...Monologue 7/19.15 Monologue He was a man, cold like his steal knife. I could still feel it on the tip of my skin…so sharp…so lifeless. The blood dripping down my flesh, tears streaming down my face. He could have got me? Oh no…he could have. But did he? She was the first one to go. Who’s she you ask? Hmph…That does not matter anymore. I could hear her screaming as she called for help she grew limp, her voice cracking as he dragged her away. Do you think I am crazy? Doctor. Do you? The blood, the lives. Oh no but she came back, she came back but I knew it wasn’t her. The skin was there, but it was being worn by someone else, someone whom wanted to be her. I knew he wanted to smile, but her skin wouldn’t let him. He wore it, he wore what was hers. I stayed silent as he played dress up. The mirror he stared at was covered in dust, and each day I stared with him. He must have forgot about me? Though he enjoyed her skin a lot more than the others. He continued to wear it as if he knew I was watching, dolling her up as if she was his own. As he was her. This man wasn’t the prettiest, the lights dimming down on his harsh features, even with someone else’s face he couldn’t achieve beauty for he was a monster. How long did it take me to leave you ask? You tell me Doc am I really here or are you the one who’s...

Momomo Monolouge

...Character Monologue It destroys me that they all come running up to me when they need someone to listen to them whine. They just carelessly suspect that I'm immune to sadness and depression. What they don't know is that I'm just like them. To them, I'm this person filled with joy and God knows nothing can drag me down. They assume I don’t have any troubles in my daily life, nope, all just rainbows and sunshine. They don't stop to consider that maybe all this depression surrounding me gets me down once in a while. No, how selfish of me, they've got their own problems to deal with first. They want to hear me say that everything will be okay, and that things really aren't as bad as they seem to be. You know, generic bullshit that’s on every page of social media. I’m having to listen to them ramble on about their crushes not liking them and their boyfriends not spending every minute of every hour of every fucking day with them. Maybe, it's my fault. I put on this front like I'm always so happy and cheery, so they naturally gravitate to the happiest person they can find within a mile radius. Maybe they're hoping a little bit of what’s left of my happiness will be passed onto them. Maybe they think that they'll be happier if they're like me. Oh, God. Stop me. I'm going on an ego trip again. But they wouldn't want this happiness spared onto them, it’s not happiness, quite the opposite. I can barely handle it anymore. People say that I'd make a good psychologist, and maybe they're right...

Monolouge in Reluctant Fundamentalist

...THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST AS A MONOLOGUE MONOLOGUE: A monologue is presented by a single character, most often to express the mental thoughts aloud, sometimes also to directly address another character or the audience. Monologues are common in dramatic media as well as in non-dramatic media such as poetry. Monologues share much in common with several other literary devices including soliloquies and apostrophes. DEVICE OF MONOLOGUE IN THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST: This is probably the only novel of its kind, a novel with no lyrical descriptions of people and places. It has no dialogue at all; in fact, the entire novel is a long, gripping monologue. A novel in the form of a monologue and without a dialogue is a brilliant and novel idea, and it works magnificently in this case only because Mohsin Hamid is a superb writer with formidable powers. He grips the reader's mind with polished and haunting prose. The hero of the novel, Changez, a student from Lahore, Pakistan, attends Princeton University. After graduation at the top in his class, he secures an excellent and well-paying job at the elite valuation firm Underwood Samson. He becomes well-adjusted and well-accustomed to the American way of life, falls in love with the beautiful and elegant, Princeton-educated Erica, who hails from an aristocratic family. For the first time in his life Changez is happy. Then, unexpectedly, on September 11, 2001...

But today there is a drastic change in the way prostitution is viewed. There are demands from every corner about decriminalization of prostitution. In its draft statement ICPR (International Committee For Prostitute’s Rights) states, “Until recently, the women’s movement in most countries has not, or has only marginally, included prostitutes as spokeswoman or theorists. Historically, women’s movement (for example socialist and communist movements) has opposed the institution of prostitution, while claiming to support prostitute women. However, prostitutes reject support that requires them to leave prostitution, they object to being treated as symbols of oppression and demand recognition as workers. Due to feminist hesitation or refusal to accept prostitution as legitimate work and to accept prostitutes as working women, the majority of prostitutes have not been recognised...
