My mother did not change the world, but she is still my hero
When I was asked who my hero is, without hesitation, I knew my answer would be my mother. A hero to me is someone who you look up to, someone that you can model yourself after. Someone who sets an example for you with a good set of morals and values. While most people think a hero must be a famous person ,others think normal people could be too. Despite the fact that my mother didn't have to overcome impossible obstacles, nor does she have an astonishing success story she is still my hero.
A hero to me is a person that is there for you no matter what; they will always be by your side even if times do get tough. My mom has never left my side, and I know she will always be there for me whether I am upset and crying or I am celebrating a new accomplishment in my life. I have never met someone who is so selfless as her. She has always put me first in her life and done everything she could in order to be the best mother and give me the best life. Putting up with me is not easy. I am moody, stubborn, and at times I think I know everything as If I were 100 year old . My mother and I don’t have the perfect relationship. Even though we get in arguments and disagree on a lot of things ,we always make up by the end of the day because we both know we couldn’t live without each other.
When I think of a hero whose personality is brave, strong, hardworking, trustworthy, and unselfish, I find my mom has all of those qualities. She has been setting examples for me to follow since I was little. She has been there to set rules for me and guide me. She has been there to catch me when I fall and to help me get back up once I need it. She has been with me wherever I go .She has done all of this without asking for anything in return. She has done it all out of the good of her heart. No one else in my life has helped me as

Beowulf

...My Hero: My Mother Everyone in the world has a different opinion about what a hero is. They come in many shapes, sizes; have different characteristics, values, and beliefs. For me, a hero is someone who is willing to put a hundred percent effort into protecting you from pain. A hero that shows hard work for helping the needy. A hero that gratifies you. They will stop at nothing to provide you with the security of safety; and will share with you the knowledge required for survival. A hero doesn’t have to have impeccable character, high importance in society, or have a classic sandwich named after them in the local pub. A hero just needs to be someone who cares for your happiness and loves you for being yourself. A highly disciplined Hero. My mother is my hero. I was about ten years old when I first realized how much of a hero my mother was. I began to understand that the consequences and discipline inflicted on me was not in hatred, but to teach me a simple lesson about life skills. I recall a time back when I was around five or six where I threw an enormous tantrum about eating my vegetables. Being the hero that my mother is, she made me eat every last carrot, pea, and broccoli there was on my plate. At the time I thought that she was just a cruel parent forcing her kids to eat something utterly repulsive. In reality she taught me so many things about life from that single instance: how to have self control, how to keep a healthy diet, and most importantly how to sneak vegetables...

Beowulf vs 13th Warrior

...Beowulf A good hero is a person who has a great talent and uses that talent at the right time, making them a hero. Both the heroes in Beowulf and in 13th Warrior have a skill that they use at the right moment, which separates them from other individuals, making them a hero. Beowulf himself is a man full as brute strength and pure power in order to defeat his foes. Ahmed Ibn Fadlan lacks the strength aspect, unlike Beowulf but has great intellect, which helps him to succeed and become a hero. Beowulf does not think of any enemy as threatening and believe that his strength will not be matched. Ahmed is not strong and has no strength to rely on like Beowulf. What Ahmed does have is intellect, which he uses to replace his absence of strength. The better hero is Beowulf out of the two. It seems that Ahmed would be a better sidekick to Beowulf in he cannot physically do a lot. Ahmed would be able to think of plans and strategies and Beowulf would be able to implement them and make them work. Just as Wiglaf helped Beowulf neither one could defeat the dragon without the other. This would be the case if Ahmed and Beowulf were with each other; they would both be needed in order to accomplish something. Beowulf has strength and knows of it, which is a great benefit to him. He gets confidence knowing that he is extremely strong and gains courage from this. He is not afraid of anything including Grendel who everyone in the story fears. Grendel comes to the land of the Spear-Danes and...

Who Is the True Hero in the Kite Runner?

...Being a hero is not something everyone can be. One has to make sacrifices for the better of others. If one is not willing to make sacrifices, they are not strong enough to be a hero. Specific heroes are hard to find. Khaled Hosseini’s “The Kite Runner”, revolves around characters portraying heroism. Although the story revolves around many characters showcasing the theme of heroism, the character that has been the hero throughout the story is Hassan. This is proved by the sacrifices Hassan made for Amir, Hassan accepting his mother back into his life and Hassan protecting Baba’s house after he left to America. Firstly, Hassan is the true hero of the story because he was constantly there for Amir. Hassan was loyal and was willing to do anything for Amir: “For you a thousand times over!” (Hosseini, 71). This quote specifically portrays that Hassan was willing to do anything for Amir, as he said he will do anything a thousand times over for him. This is a powerful quote because this exemplifies Hassan being heroic through his loyalty for Amir. Hassan also was willing to do anything for Amir without expecting anything back from. Hassan also proved his heroism when he stood up for Amir against Assef: “If you make a move, they’ll have to change your nickname from ‘Assef the Ear Eater’ to ‘One Eyed Assef’, because I have this rock pointed at your left eye” (Hosseini, 45). This quote portrays Hassan’s heroism because Hassan stood up against Assef. Amir was being threatened...

Beowulf Analysis

...Epic Hero An epic hero is a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events. Beowulf is an epic hero who has an extraordinary amount of great strength. His character in the epic poem shows all of the characteristics that he needs to be an epic hero. The main characteristics of Beowulf are his personality, his great strength and his heroic code. The personality trait that Beowulf contributes to being an epic hero is his humility. This supports him being an epic hero because it shows his humbleness when it comes to how great other people thought he was. He didn't take pride in being the strong and noble person he was. For instance, when Beowulf goes to battle with Grendel, he says he will win if it is God’s will. Here, Beowulf shows how he is not overconfident about himself and he shows how he is trusting in what ever happens, if he wins or loses, that that will be the right thing to happen. Another example of his humbleness and modesty is when Beowulf goes to Herot and approaches the king, Hrothgar, with deep respect. This shows how Beowulf does not have pride in himself. Something an epic hero wouldn't have either. The second characteristic that Beowulf proves to have to be an epic hero is his physical strength. In lines 380-384, it shows how much actual strength Beowulf possesses. Another example would be when he goes into battle with Grendel’s mother. Here, he proves his extraordinary strength when he decides to throw...
