Movie Theater Research Paper

...Going to the movies as a child was one of my most favorite things to do. It was also a privilege so for many of us to get to attend a movie. Going to the movies is still a fun thing to do today but technology, cleanliness, and the thought of violence happening in a theater tends to keep people at home to watch movies. Technology today has allowed us to pretty much be in contact with anyone at any time. It is not uncommon to be sitting in movie and a phone ring or get a notification. While most people have their phone on silent were no one can hear others, feel it is appropriate to take a call while the movie is in progress. This can cause patrons to become distracted and frustrated. A lot of people who go to the movies go to get away and relax. They are trying to get away and enjoy themselves. I have noticed many times the blue glow of screens from cell phone usage. Though this may not bother some, I have found it to be very distracting. People would rather watch a movie in their own home than waste their money being distracted by electronic devices....

...on us by daily life. Two of the most popular places nowadays for entertainment are theaters and cinemas. These two places can be similar in some ways but they can also offer very different experiences for the audience. Watching a live theater performance and watching a movie in the cinema are practically the same since a movie and a play are both forms of arts. They both are just artistic forms of entertainment that are based on literary works like books with a great variety of genres such as novels, fiction, thrillers, autography or even comic books. Since both movies and plays are based on literary work, they will have plots that are also based on that work but the great thing is that they provides a shorter version of it for the audiences and viewers. Therefore, attending a live theater performance or going to the movies are perfect for the ones who are short of time or just too lazy to read through the whole book. However, the shorter version in movies and plays might sometimes disappoint viewers because they might not contain enough details from the author’s original work or the actors/actresses just can’t convey the characteristics of the characters they play. Ignoring all the above, attending a live theater performance or going to the movies can both give you enjoyable times The most notable difference between the two is the experience the audiences or viewers get. A live theater performance can offer you a much more satisfying and enjoyable time since the audiences...

Overview: Ticket sales for movie theaters are at their lowest point since 1996. With the core demographic group expected to grow slower than the US population and with technological advances growing at speeds faster than the industry can keep up, ticket sales will continue to decline if the current business strategy continues to be followed. Concession sales and ticket sales are the two biggest sources of revenue for a movie theater. That happens to me a lot, and I don’t like being in that situation at all. If Kindred got a movie theater, it would be a lot easier to convince people to drive you to a movie because it’s not as far as Fargo. It would also supply high school students with jobs all year round, provide a great place for friends to hang out and have fun together, and then people in the Kindred area wouldn’t have to drive all the way to Fargo, just to see a movie that won’t even last that long. Kindred should build a movie theater. High school students usually want to get a job. But what if they don’t have many job options...

Comparing Theater and Cinema Essay

...Comparing Theater and Cinema Essay Milagros Torres ARTS/100 February 2, 2015 Lisa Turner Comparing Theater and Cinema Essay Jaws is a perfect movie. A movie that is the standard for the “animal on the loose” genre, and it is unlikely to ever be overshadowed. The movie preys on the human mind’s ability to construct horrors beyond any the screen can provide. The audience does not actually see the shark until an hour into the movie. But the shark isn’t just a shark. The shark is a representation of consumerism in this memorable movie. Symbolism The shark in Jaws represents consumerism in society. This is first demonstrated in the scene where the sheriff, a recent transplant from New York and therefore an outsider to the town, tries to close down the beaches after learning of the first shark attack. The sheriff is confronted by the mayor and fathers of the town in the confined space of one of Amity’s ferries, suggesting the island’s isolation and dependence on beach-going summer tourists for its livelihood and survival (AMC Filmsite, n.d.). Amity’s mayor informs the sheriff that he cannot close the beaches on his own authority, and must have a civic ordinance or resolution by the town’s Board of Selectmen. Their one and only concern is what impact closing the island’s beaches will have on the businesses in the exclusive town. The sheriff, symbolizing the “everyman” of society, is forced into a cover-up and ordered to keep the beaches open. Because of this...
