In today’s fast moving world it is important for every company to keep up with the pace of change and be innovative. This job can not be done by just a few people within the company. However companies need the help of everyone, especially the costumers, since they are the one who have the needs and buy or do not buy the product in the end.
Useful knowledge is wide spread and hard to get. One possible avenue to collect as many new ideas and suggestions as possible – is to use the concept of Open Innovation. Open Innovations connect external ideas with the knowledge of the internal Research and Development division of a company (Chesbrough,
2003). It is difficult and costly to fully understand the costumers. Open Innovations give the companies a chance to let their customers participate in their innovation process (Thomke & von Hippel, 2002).
Open Source is one of the most controversial phenomena of IT-industry nowadays. Confrontation of its supporters and opponents is perhaps the most noticeable trend in the soft world recent years. And it is not surprising because as soon as someone starts to speak about Open Source, the rest remember Microsoft and its products, which are common examples for proving inferiority and inadequacy of proprietary software (i.e. programs with closed-source) (Sharma, Sugumaran, & Rajagopalan, 2002).
Open Source is a method of programs’ development and licensing, in which everyone is entitled to a free application use or sale, a free modification (keeping the information about the authors of the programs’ in the code), a free publication of personal improvements and free access to programs’ source code
(Mockus, Fielding, & Herbsleb, 2002).
In the following report, the authors are going to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using an Open Source. They are going to link the Open

Ethical Issues in Relevant Design

...this was partly due to there a relatively small amount of the population using the internet at the time, so not every issue had been discovered or addressed. As browsers progressed ethical problems arose such as online security and what details a browser should and shouldn’t save, issues which needed addressing immediately, such as cookie law, advertisements and data tracking. Chrome is a relatively new web browser, launched in 2008 by Google. Being a new browser means any ethical issues previously found in browsers, such as how information entered by a user can be stored and how it is allowed to be used, could instantly be implemented, giving them a valuable usability advantage when it was launched. Google are not open source like Firefox, meaning all developing is done in house, so they are fully responsible for tackling ethical subjects. Google started out as a simple search engine (2013), but quickly became a powerhouse in the technological world. But to their advantage Google used their search engine past in their...

The Three Browsere

...The three browsers that I would be speaking of are Mozilla Firefox , Google Chrome and Opera. These three browsers are the main browsers on the market at the present point in time they are all used world wide and are used by millions each between themselves as individual browsers. They are all supportive of cross platform use Windows Os , Mac Os and Linux Os and can also be used on portable devices such as tablets and cell phones. Opera being the older of the three has been around for quite some time in fact since 1994 when it was started as a research project at Telenor a Norwegian telecommunications company. In 1995, the project branched out into a separate company named Opera Software ASA, and launched a version in 1996.Opera has made many upgrades since then, and introduced notable features such as Speed Dial. The Opera browser was named MultiTorg up until version 2.0 and was not available to the public. Opera was known for its multiple document interface (MDI) and 'hotlist' (sidebar), which made browsing several pages at once much easier as with the other 2 browsers Mozilla and Chrome In February 2013, Opera Software announced that their proclaimed rendering engine, Presto, would be phased out in favour of WebKit which is carried also by Mozilla and Chrome.[4] Opera 15 saw the browser being fully rewritten, with this and subsequent releases being based on Blink and Chromium Os. Even with as many features carried Opera browser is recommended for slower and earlier...

...The World Is Flat Flattener Information Technology Essay The World Is Flat is an international bestselling book by Thomas Friedman that analyzes globalization, primarily in the early 21st century. The title is a metaphor for viewing the world as a level playing field in terms of commerce, where all competitors have an equal opportunity. Globalization became more prominent during the last decades. Friedman argues that globalization made the world smaller and flatter, allowing all countries to take chance of the available opportunities equally. As Friedman describes in “The World is Flat” there are three eras of globalization and ten flatteners which made the world smaller, making it easier to communicate and share our knowledge. This paper deals with the flattener number 2 i.e.; “When the NetScape went Public” and associated developments after 2003 till date. Background Thomas Lauren Friedman is an American journalist, columnist and author and has won the Pulitzer Prize three times. In his famous book “The World is Flat” he identifies three eras of globalization. The first era, called "Globalization 1.0",between the years 1492, when Columbus set out to discover a new trade route to the New World, and 1800, made the world fall in size from large to medium. During this period, the strength of a country was based on the number of horsepower or the number of steam engines owned, compared with other countries. The second period - "Globalization 2.0", between the years 1800 and...

Internet Browser Research Paper

...the Benefits to Each Browser The purpose of this research paper is to take the reviews from users to help highlight both the positives as well as the negatives of the top four widely used Internet browsers, which will ultimately help determine which browser is the best available for consumers to use. The purpose of this study is to determine which browser is the best out of the four, and to highlight the best features from each browser, and determine their significance on how each feature is. The significance of the study is to analyze the information given on each browser and translate it into information that Internet users can take away to help them determine which browser is the best one for them between Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome. The Internet has become more readily available across the globe which has caused many software developers to create their own Internet browser. In the past couple of years there has been a flood of Internet browsers available for use (Bidgoli, 2009). When the Internet was only available in select countries there was only a select number of browsers that a user could use to access the Internet. The Internet is only going to become available to more people which will most likely bring more Internet browsers to the market. There are currently millions of users that are accessing the Internet daily and each browser developer is fighting for their share of users in an effort to prevent one single browser from dominating the...

To obtain this identity, you have to contact and obtain the certificate from the certificate authority that the web server trusts. Firefox can access the certificate from Firefox store. Also, when using public website like HTTPS, the trusted root certificate is already in Firefox certificate store because it is pre-loaded. Exporting certificate from Firefox To export certificate from Firefox, first click on the main menu, from main menu, choose tools options, advanced, select the encryption tab and then click on view certificates. ...off, just by looking at the home page, it is easily discerned that this is the Mozilla site. The bold title helps with this. There is minimal flashing or changing pictures, with only one news feed of pictures that change at a relatively slow rate. The information is spaced well, with plenty of white space to use as borders for each piece of information on the page. The amount of color is kept to a minimal; only use a new color for the most important things. This example can be seen with the download Firefox button being the only green on the page, beside green in the news feed. Source - Mozilla The amount of information on the home page is limited to only what is needed. While at first it seems like a lot, most of the important information is at the top and easily accessible to the users who just want to download Firefox. Information lower on the home page is design for easy access for users who want more advanced information about Mozilla, such as the operating system for the mobile web. Even the new feed of pictures is clear on what each picture represents. Source – Mozilla Navigation is simplistic as it can get. Each link is clearly displayed as the common style of blue words that become underlined when highlighted. The Firefox page is reached by clicking the Firefox symbol. Minor links and tabs to common pages such as the “about” page are clearly labels across the top. Examining the Firefox page brings up a similar style to the home page; clean, organized and plenty...

Role of Google in the Growth of E-Commeerce

...Strategic Analysis 1) ROLE OF GOOGLE IN THE GROWTH OF E-COMMEERCE: With the incredible growth of the eCommerce industry, experts around the world are expecting significant change in the future, and companies are taking stock in the market by investing more money than ever before in eCommerce technology. Google Shopping and recent changes to Google Analytics are also affecting retailers and their ability to effectively market their products and services. Google has introduced a new change that will “phase out free clicks on Google Product Search listings.” Once the new program called Google Shopping launches, ecommerce merchants will be required to bid on placement for their products for related search terms in Google. Online retailers will no longer see their listings appear in the comparison shopping service. Instead, this service will be replaced with the Google Shopping program, which will include paid product ad listings. According to Sameer Samat, Google Shopping’s Vice President of Product Management, “Google Shopping will empower businesses of all sizes to compete effectively, and it will help shoppers turn their intentions into actions lightning fast. Today’s changes are a first step toward providing technology, tools, and traffic to help power the retail ecosystem.” Google + has rolled out a new service that will now include local listings and customer reviews. Globally, eCommerce is up by more than 300% in the Middle East, with approximately 70% of transactions completed...

Browser Comparison

...countless webpages out there. It is therefore essential for user to know the available choices for such an important application for his daily interaction with the World Wide Web. The most popular browsers are Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari. Even though it’s highly competitive market and new functions and improvements are quickly copied between them, still there are some differences which are worth analyzing and comparing. Google Chrome is the newest, released only in September 2008 but has already become the market leader as of September 2008. Its advantages include a very fast rendering machine and its multi-process feature that minimizes crashes as each site is run on a different process. Chrome is also recommended to users of Gmail and other Google Products as it offers some integration features. Of course, as always with Google, Chrome is strongly criticized for its non-transparent fetching of user data to the Google Databases such as auto-complete forms, browsing history raising important privacy concerns. Another browser that introduced high-speed performance is Mozilla Firefox. Its main advantage is the large collection of plugins and add-ons with many useful applications. Mozilla Firefox although it was introduced in 2002 as light and fast browser has now become a very demanding application in terms of resource usage; particularly the latest version has been characterized as “bloatware” and has received very negative reviews by...

...presenting information resources identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that may be video, image, web page, or other kinds of content. It can also be used to access information provided by web servers in private networks or files in file systems. There has been a virtual explosion of browsers which are designed according to their operating system and others, target specific users such as those majoring on social networking. There are also clones of established browsers such as Firefox and Google Chrome which seek to improve on the original by being “leaner” of offering different features (Anonymous, 2011). According to Bowler (2009) the browser world have spent time focusing on delivering their product to multiple OS. This helps them build many of the browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer and Safari. Mozilla started from scratch — Firefox was the result. And now users have no shortage of browsers to choose from, partly due to the work of the Mozilla foundation. the first full point release of Mozilla’s popular open-source Web browser in nearly three years, combines user-interface, performance and Web-standards support enhancements, along with new provisions for making user data both more and less accessible across the network (Brooks, 2011). “Google entered this arena and many speculated it was so they could build their operating system. ...the browser all of the pertinent pages are immediately available for me to access. Overall, Chrome has been a great browser with only minor issues. At work I use Internet Explorer. I have found no issues with this browser and believe the only reason I don’t use it personally is for a change of scenery. Explorer seems to offer all of the same functions that Chrome has as well as the occasional crash. Because the Air Force remains loyal to Microsoft, the one plus to Explorer is that it is the only browser that will operate all of the online applications that the Air Force requires we use. Other than this minor detail, I have found no difference in the functionality. Another browser that I’ve been able to experiment with is Mozilla Firefox. This browser seems very similar to Explorer. The functionality is about the same but as stated before, it doesn’t allow complete uninhibited access to all of the Air Force applications that are necessary to function on a daily basis. I believe this is due to a security issue for some of the applications. Because this is a browser that is available on government...
