Overview
Successful team-based organizations require leaders to be collaborative and empowering and to transform organizations from a traditional leadership environment to a shared leadership environment where the importance of empowering team members is recognized. This course covers twelve specific challenges that are identified under Course Topics below. These challenges prepare leaders to negotiate and facilitate the complexities of leading teams throughout their life cycle. Once leaders have faced these challenges, their capabilities will improve in specific management areas.
Learning to use these new capabilities in a team environment will enhance a team leader's ability to self-assess and to select the most effective management style for a specific situation. Judging one management style relative to another is ineffective; instead participants learn to assess their own and others' management styles in order to enhance task performance.
The challenges in leadership of teams covered in this course are easy to apply in any management situation and will enable formation of teams that organize faster, think collaboratively, and are productive. They help create an environment where leaders can successfully support their teams in a competent professional atmosphere. Participants learn how to manage a team by providing structure and developing trust during the life cycle of a project. The team development model employed allows teams to organize and execute complex projects without the stress of miscommunication and distrust.
Learning how to strategically integrate the twelve leadership challenges will support development of the skills and techniques managers need to navigate organizational transformations of work in order to effectively guide project teams and to communicate effectively with senior management, CEOs, and Boards of Directors. These challenges are…...

...William Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the shrew’ consists of disorder which is further enhanced by the comic devices. Confusion is prominent throughout Shakespeare’s plays, for example ‘The comedy of errors’ and ‘Macbeth’. The disarrangement would be expected by an Elizabethan audience; however the structure of the play subverts traditional, more conventional plays and suggests disorder in itself. There are various comic techniques that Shakespeare utilises, the most significant being deception, most of the characters are able to transgress past social boundaries in order to get their way, which ultimately causes disorder. He is able to use both subtle and obvious techniques to cater for all of his audience. Shakespeare immediately presents his audience with this idea of disorder through the induction; the chaos at the start is further emphasized by comic techniques. Although the induction would be highly amusing for an audience, it does highlight that a person’s behaviour can quickly change depending on how they are treated. Shakespeare uses dramatic irony not only to evolve comedy but to engage the audience, when Sly says ‘well, bring our lady hither to our sight, and once again a pot o’th’smallest ale’. As well as being bawdy the quotation epitomizes the idea of gender roles, however Shakespeare establishes dramatic irony as ‘our lady’ is one of the page boys. The aspect of disorder is developed by the disguise, and tricking Sly. Shakespeare through the induction might be......

...Bullying is an ordinary problem among teenagers today. Different types of bullying effect people in many different ways. The novel, The Body of Christopher Creed demonstrates different people bullying other human beings for no good reason. Renee Bowen, Alex Arrington, and most importantly, Mrs. Creed are examples of bullying used in the novel; each uses different types of bullying. Renee Bowen verbally bullies other kids in school, who are not friends with her, but is seen as a nice girl, until people get to meet her, and then she is neither so nice nor friendly. When Renee meets Ali at the WaWa; Renee gets up in Ali’s face and bullies her by calling her and her mom sluts because of the rumors she started. This is evident as Torey states, “Your stupid sex life makes it a problem where you stay!” Renee hollered. “I didn’t cause your legendary rep, Ali! You caused it! If people think you’re a slut, that’s because you practically begged them to! My dad told me about your mother. Well, guess what? You’re no better.” (Plum- Ucci, 207) Renee also surprisingly bullies Bo Richardson. When they were at the WaWa, Renee spots Bo and gets frightened, when Bo starts making fun of how scared she looks; she says, “I’m not scared of you, you ‘tard,” she croaked” (Plum – Ucci,...

As the months went by the loan sharks got even worse with dad, following him home, cutting his tires, they even came to the hospital. The fist darkened day was when things seemed to be going great for us finally. Dad had found a job, and mom seemed to be doing better. So dad took us out for dinner and a movie. It was great, but while we were on our way to the hospital a dark car stopped in front of us causing us to hit the car from behind. My father was frantic trying to see if we were all okay, but what was more horrifying then the wreck was what happened after. The men in the car ahead of us got out and came to dads side of the car, they pulled him out and started beating him. It was scary to see the things they did, but dad did get away for a bit... “Sam drive away now....leave.” He screamed as they chased him back towards the car. ...a plant manager (Alex Rojo). In this story, Bill Peach (division vice-president), followed the status of a specific order number. He discovered not only was the order incomplete, but also seven weeks late and unassembled. Peach was not pleased and informed Mr. Roho that he only has 3 months to improve plant performance before it has to close its doors. Mr. Peach’s visit disrupts employee morale, causes skilled machinists to quit, and machines left inoperable with no one to service them. Peach gave Alex an ultimatum. He insists on change immediately. Alex’s team worked overtime, and the order was shipped off. When analyzing current plant practices, Alex contemplates why the plant is underperforming when it has the right people, technology, and overall a good facility. Although he cut costs as much as possible but his prices are still above the competition. Although materials are being released on time, orders are still incomplete and not shipped in a timely manner. Alex feels he has the right people, technology, processes, price and production capacity to strive in the industry…but cannot identify the problem. After reflecting on a discussion he had with a friend (Jonah a scientist), Alex realized that productivity is an action that brings a company closer to its goal. ...acrid zingers as he savors a life without the vaguest threat of commitment. Trouble arises when his boss hires a young dynamo, Natalie (Anna Kendrick), who has the idea of cutting costs by instituting a program of firing people over the Internet instead of in person. Ryan sees his footloose lifestyle threatened, but he is forced to take Natalie on a cross-country odyssey to train her in the niceties of delivering bad news deftly. The interplay between the world-weary Ryan and the naive Natalie makes for delicious comedy, and Kendrick plays her role smoothly. There's also a wonderful performance by Vera Farmiga as Alex, a dynamo who clicks with Ryan because she's also seeking no-strings sex on the run. ("Think of me as you with a vagina," Alex tells Ryan helpfully.) Eventually, Ryan begins to question the assumptions that have ruled his life. His encounters with Alex and Natalie threaten his complacency. We can't help worrying that the film may take a sentimental turn, but miraculously, it never does. A scene in which Ryan returns home for a family wedding and talks a reluctant groom (well played by Danny McBride) into going through with the nuptials is a beautifully modulated sequence that manages to be poignant without ever falling into slop. Reitman is a rare director with heart as well as sardonic humor, but he always knows when to pull back. There is only one false note -- a montage sequence near the end in which several of the people fired by Ryan burble about......
