Mr. Birkway is foolishly insensitive when he reads aloud the student’s journal entries even though he changes their names. For example, when reading about Christy who's named was changed to Betty Mary Lou Finney started turning "purple", and accused Christy of writing it. Though Mr. Birkway was trying to tell the class what he liked about the passage, it has caused an argument to break out.
