Introduction

Attention Material: Be sure to grab your audience’s attention in a creative and exciting way. Quotes, startling statements, hypothetical stories, amazing statistics are all examples of possibilities for your opening. Remember to pause before you start. Look at the audience for a moment. Breathe. Then draw them in quickly to the point of your speech. Jokes generally do not belong here.

Credibility Statement: Why have you chosen this topic? Do you have any association with this topic? Are you able to show that you are an experienced person or an expert in this field? Do you know someone who has experienced this situation? There are many ways of tying yourself into the speech topic.

Audience Involvement: Try to think of some way of involving the audience from the start. Some of you may be able to do this simultaneously with the attention getter or with the credibility statement. If you do, then highlight both of these categories on your outline. Just be sure you do ALL the items that are in bold faced print. NEVER forget

Why Hijab

...Why Hijab? One of the many questions that I have been asked is why does Islam make hijab mandatory for women? Islam has introduced hijab as part of the decency and modesty in interaction between members of the opposite sex. Verse 59 of chapter 33 quoted previously gives a very good reason; it says, “This is more appropriate so that they may be known [as Muslim women] and thus not be harassed [or molested].” Men, whether they confess it or not, are slaves of lust and desire. • Hijab protects women from such men; it symbolizes that she has been sanctified to one man only and is off-limit to all others. • Hijab contributes to the stability and preservation of marriage and family by eliminating the chances of extramarital affairs. • Finally, it compels men to focus on the real personality of the woman and de-emphasizes her physical beauty. It puts the woman in control of strangers’ reaction to her. Commenting on the attire of women in North Africa and South East Asia, Germaine Greer, one of the pioneers of the women’s liberation movement, wrote: “Women who wear cortes or huipiles or saris or jellabas or salwar kameez or any other ample garments can swell and diminish inside them without embarrassment or discomfort. Women with shawls and veils can breastfeed anywhere without calling attention to themselves, while baby is protected from dust and flies. In most non-Western societies, the dress and ornaments of women celebrate the mothering function. Ours deny...

Branches And Sub-Sects: The Five Pillars Of Islam

...Shia & Sunni Islam is divided into several branches and sub-sects. the two main sects of Islam are Sunni and Shia. Sunni is the largest group with 85 percent of the Muslim population whereas Shia’s make up 15% of the population. The two sects formed right immediately after the death of prophet as there was no leader for the community, so the people decided to choose themselves. The Sunni’s - which means "people of the community and the tradition" – decided that the leader should be someone respected by the community and know the disciples of the prophet. They chose Abu Bakr who was one of Muhammad's closest friend and he was the first caliphs to succeed Muhammad. After Abu Bakr came Umar, Uthman, and Ali. The Shia's, however, disagreed with...

To The World, Sufis Are Heretics Summary

...In the article, To the World, They Are Muslims. To ISIS, Sufis Are Heretics, by Rukmini Callimachi, it’s discussed that ISIS does not consider Sufis to be one of them, they regard them as heretics. It is debated on whether it was ISIS behind the attack on the Sufi synagogue on November 24. ISIS believes that Sufis, which are people in Islam that basically belief in Sufism, or "the phenomenon of mysticism within Islam" and express their religion by worshipping the shrines of Sufist philosophers, are “Mushrikin, an Arabic word meaning polytheists.” They are aggressive towards them because ISIS shares the belief of Islam, that there is only one God, and they take their demonstrations of praise to these idols as an offense to the Islamic State. “Since at least 2016, Islamic State militants have targeted Sufis, who practice a mystical form of Islam that includes the veneration of saints, often at their tombs. The extremist group has systematically razed the tombs of Sufi saints and dynamited their shrines. Just over a year ago, the Islamic State began carrying out mass executions of Sufi worshipers during prayer.” This has happened yet again, on this past Friday, and although “no group has claimed responsibility for the killings of more than 300 people on Friday in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, that attack also took place inside a Sufi mosque. Egyptian officials on Saturday said the attackers were carrying the black flag of the Islamic State, though the group has so far remained...

The Life of Abu Dhar

...Abu Dharr al-Ghifari | Born | Hejaz | Died | 652 C.E. | Title | AlGhifari AlKinani | Religion | Islam | Additional information | Tribe | Banu Kinanah | Status | Muhajirun | ABOUT ABU-ZAR ALGHAFARI: Abu Zar's real name was Jandab ibn Junadah ibn Sakan, better known as Abu Dhar al-Ghaffari, or Abu Thar al-Ghaffari. Hazrat Abu Zar's Kunniyat was Abu Zar, which is because his eldest son was named Zar (this word in Arabic means 'fragrance'). By one estimate, Abu Zar was born in 568 AD, which means Abu Zar was two years older than the Prophet Muhammad (saw). He was born to the Ghifar clan, found to the western south of Medina.  They were a branch of the Banu Kinanah tribe. Quraysh clan of Muhammad (SAW) was also a branch of the Banu Kinanah tribe. Hazrat Abu Zar Ghaffari (Radhiallahu Anhu / May God be pleased with him) had belonged to an Arab tribe by the name of Ghaffar, hence his last name.   Early life: Abu Zar was most unhappy about the custom of Idol-worship that was rampant in Arabia of the 7th century. He had already believed in a Supreme God and he would spend most of his time reflecting on that. Little is known of his life before his conversion to Islam. Abu Dharr is said to have been a serious young man, an ascetic and a monotheist even before he...

QUESTION What is the ruling of the Ulama of Deen regarding the Ayah‫ اياك نستعين‬A person interprets this Ayah saying that it is Shirk (Polytheism) to seek assistance from any one other than Allah Almighty. He quotes the Following : ‫دﯾﮐﮫ ﺣﺻﺮ ﻧﺳﺘﻌﯾں اے ﭘﺎک دﯾں‬ ‫اﺳﺘﻌﺎﻧت ﻏﯾﺮ ﺳﮯ ﻻﺋق ﻧﮩﯾں‬ ‫ذات ﺣق ﺑﯾﺷک ﻣﮯ ﻧﻌم اﻟﻣﺳﺘﻌﺎن‬ ‫ﺣﯾف ﻣﮯ ﮔﺮ ﻏﯾﺮ ﺣق ﮐﺎ ﮨو دھﯾﺎن‬ Look at the Hasr (restrictions) of the pure Deen, that it is not permissible to seek assistance from other than Allah Almighty. Pengalaman Sufi Rumi
