A sweetly sad melody met my ears the sound of it woebegone matching my mood of the moment. My fingers danced their life’s worth of emotion across the keys creating a word of my own invention. My eyes were closed I did not need to see to know which note came next nor which chord to use for a harmony. This song was my own a tale of my life. Composing is the only outlet I have ever needed in order to get thoughts and emotions off my chest. I take comfort in the art of written music that I have created. There is always a symphony in my head playing to fill the discomfort of silence and if I listen hard enough eventually everything has a song. Songs and music tell stories they start, have conflict, have a climax, and then have some sort of ending. Music has the power to change lives, bring people together, and express what words cannot. Plato once said, “Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” …show more content…
When someone plays an instrument, there are emotions and imaginings they are trying to convey to their audiences. Certain songs can cause memories to resurface. The Music from great composers of old can take you back in time and show you a world you had never known before. Personally I do not like to show feelings like anger or sadness, it feels awkward for me to talk about with others I turn to piano to express myself and it feels as if I can breathe easier, or that an excruciatingly heavy weight were suddenly lifted from my soul. I just let go of everything for those brief stolen moments when it's just me and the music. I don't have to think. The music flows from me like a river and my whole being is exposed through some meager notes on a staff of

Music Appreciation

...Biography and Analysis of Franz Joseph Hayden and Symphony No. 95 in C Minor MUSI 1320 Music Appreciation Franz Joseph Haydn Franz Joseph Haydn was born on March 31, 1732 in Rohrau, Austria (Green, 2013). He did not come from a strong musical background; his family did not have any music professionals in it. However, his father was an amateur musician, his main profession was the village wheelwright. At an early age, Joseph had a wonderful voice. When he was eight he was sent to Vienna to become a choirboy at St. Stephen’s Cathedral. When he left the choir he made money by playing and teaching the violin as a freelance musician. Haydn would then go onto become an assistant for composer Nicola Porpora. Then in 1761 he was appointed Kapellmeister at the Esterhazy family palace, he would hold this position for the next 30 years (biography.com, 2013). The position of Kapellmeister consisted of managing and writing music for the prince’s chapel, but in addition to his private opera house, marionette theater, and palace chamber music. Haydn composed a total of 104 symphonies, more than 20 operas, 83 string quartets, in addition to several divertimentos, trios, and sonatas.. During his time with the Esterhazy family, Haydn’s popularity continued to grow outside the palace walls. He would come to write as much music for publication as he was for the royal family. Some of his most successful works that were commissioned abroad included the Paris symphonies and “The Seven Last...
