My biggest goal for this course is to learn how to write a paper and get my point across without going overboard with run- on sentences and un-needed info. In my career field it’s going to be very important to be able to get my point across with minimal errors and mistakes. Another goal of mine is to learn to overall like writing. When I first started school I couldn’t stand writing papers or sending emails, but since that is the biggest line of communication today I need to learn to love it. I plan on using my writing in many different ways. One major way I plan on using writing is sending emails and letters to customers and employees at work. I hope to be a General Manager or at least Assistant General Manager of a major company or corporation after graduation. I plan to also use my writing throughout my college career. My college career is looking to be a long one since I plan to continue until I receive my masters’ degree in business. ...Senior Writing Project-Reflective Essay As I look back at the writings I have created in these past few years, I realize that other than my junior year, I haven't written any narrative pieces, in any classes. The focus throughout my high school curriculum has been toward argumentative, analysis, and informative writings. Only in my junior year did I write my first creative writings in the form of a short story and a poem. The first creative writing I had to write a "Vomit" Draft. A vomit draft was the very first draft of a paper with little to no guidelines. "Bring two minutes to life" was the only instruction. We had to throw down 500 words without paying any real attention to punctuation or grammar. This kind of freedom associated with such creative writing was an alien concept to me. Getting used to writing without a structure that we had to follow, without a set of guidelines we had to abide by took a while. But, this kind of writing really helped me learn and improve, not just my writings, my organization and my time management skills as well. ...My approach in writing an assignment for class is more of a textbook approach. In other words, what I learned about writing in class are the steps I take when writing for an assignment. The first step I take when writing for an assignment is by pre-writing. Pre-writing organizes my thoughts and helps in making the topic I am writing about more interesting. I start out with a draft of my thoughts and ideas on the topic that I am writing about for that particular assignment. With this step, I can put those ideas in an effective form and I am able to communicate my thoughts and ideas on the topic or subject matter in written form. From there, I take the revising step. ...My writing is my running career. It is not always pleasant to do in the moment, but I often find myself very proud of what I accomplish. Like a season of training, my skill has increased with repetition and practice, certainly over this semester. As I put the work in, I have noticed growth in my approach to writing, writing process, and skill at crafting an argument, and further my understanding of addressing and understanding human rights.
