"And all of the things that made us great were the very things that were going to end us."

My Chemical Romance broke up Friday night, ending a career that lasted nearly a dozen years and produced some of the most dramatic music in recent years.

They have, of course, left quiet the legacy behind. Four studio albums, all of which are excellent and sound nothing alike, a pair of live records, palettes of cake-like make-up and an assortment of elaborate costumes, and music videos so incredible it should be watched for millennia to come. And although this is an impressive feat, it is the intangibles that really do My Chemical Romance justice. This band was about ideas and actions, hopes and dreams, creativity and conflicts, filled to the brim with …show more content…
He recruited guitarist Ray Toro and his younger brother, Mikey Way, to play bass. He then recruited guitarist Frank Iero following the break up of ex-band, Pencey Prep. Original drummer, Matt Pelisser left the group in 2004 after Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, making room for Bob Bryar on 2006's the Black Parade.

Encouraged by the obvious attachment shown by fans, My Chemical Romance will release their final album, May Death Never Stop You, which is a compilation of greatest hits from all of their previous albums. "I consider “Fake Your Death” to be the “last MCR song," and to me, it is absolutely the final realization that this is the last time I will get to preform with my band. It's sort of a gut-wrenching realization in that respect."

He continued, "During the time that I was writing "Fake Your Death," I didn't realize that this song would end up being a eulogy for the band. I think, internally, I must have because I felt a sort of sadness and loss wash over me upon hearing the words being played back to me. It's a really self-aware, honest song and I'm very proud of

"Love" as a Perspective Aspect People

...Love fact #1 Love makes us crazy For one thing, love causes serotonin levels in the brain to drop, which may lead people to obsess about their lover. The levels of serotonin, a chemical produced by the body, are also low in people who have obsessive-compulsive disorder. Next, it ramps up production of the stress hormone cortisol, leading to slightly higher blood pressure and possible loss of sleep. Scientists at the University of London have found that when people look at their new lover, the neural circuits that are usually in charge of social judgment are suppressed. All in all, love kind of leaves you obsessive, stressed, and blind! Love fact #2 Broken hearts always hurt A new study suggests the psychological hurt of a break up is just as real as a physical injury. Two areas of the brain that respond to physical pain also become activated when a person is dealing with social or romantic pain, such as being dumped. The study’s authors at UCLA used an MRI to monitor brain activity in participants while they played a game simulating social rejection. The researchers believe that the pain of being rejected may have evolved as a motivating force that led humans to seek out social interaction, which is crucial for the survival of most mammals. Love fact #3 Kiss the right way Did you know there is a “right” way to kiss? People are more likely to tilt their heads to the right when kissing instead of left, says a report published in the journal, Nature. A scientist from...

...Abstract Purpose – The aim of the paper is to discuss a possible extension of narrative analysis to a new medium of expression of consumer behaviour, specifically YouTube. Design/methodology/approach – Marketing and consumer behaviour studies often apply narrative analysis to understand consumption. The consumer is a source of introspective narratives that are studied by scholars. However, consumption has a narrative nature in itself and consumers are also storytellers. YouTube is a new context in which subjects tell stories to an audience through self-made videos and re-edited TV programs. After defining the pros and cons of different approaches to the study of YouTube, narrative analysis is presented as a possible means of understanding YouTube. Findings – Some preliminary evidence is presented by discussing several YouTube videos. These indicate that YouTube content can be better understood as stories, rather than example of other approaches, such as visual analysis, media studies, videography, and others. Research limitations/implications – From the analysis conducted, preliminary managerial implications can be drawn. It seems unlikely that normal TV broadcasters will be substituted by YouTube videos. For the most part, YouTube content draws its sense and shared meaning from the major TV shows and series. The discursive nature of YouTube is also an indication of how to deal with this new medium as a company or researcher. Originality/value – The paper is an attempt to open up new...

It's Week 1, and we're set to go. This course is perhaps a little different from the typical MBA course. Rather than studying the internal workings of a business, we shall instead delve into the legal, political, and social cultures of our city, nation, and world and see how these affect everything we do in business. We shall study the gamut of legal concepts, from product liability, to civil rights, to intellectual property rights, to antitrust and consumer protection. Underpinning all of these legal concepts, however, will be two foundational aspects: (a) the ethical issues within, and (b) the "world view" without. Milton Friedman, Immanual Kant, Blanchard and Peale, Laura Nash . . . these are just a few of the names of ethicists and...

Kurt Vonnegut in American Lit

...I. Introduction In his foreword to a collection of the radio scripts of comedians Bob Elliott and Ray Goulding, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. endorses these entertainers as somehow new and different—and relevant—since they draw their humor from the plight of the (American) Common Man. In the process, Vonnegut offers us an insight into his own writing, and the philosophies that inform it. “They aren’t like most other comedians’ jokes these days,” Vonnegut writes, aren’t rooted in show business and the world of celebrities and news of the day. They feature Americans who are almost always fourth-rate or below, engaged in enterprises which, if not contemptible, are at least insane. And while other comedians show us persons tormented by bad luck and enemies and so on, Bob and Ray’s characters threaten to wreck themselves and their surroundings with their own stupidity. There is a refreshing and beautiful innocence in Bob’s and Ray’s humor. Man is not evil, they seem to say. He is simply too hilariously stupid to survive. And this I believe. Jerome Klinkowitz, in the introduction to his essay collection entitled Vonnegut in America, has used this quote—as he certainly should—to support his claim that Vonnegut’s humor has its roots in the comedic response to the Great Depression. But of course there is much more to it than that. The reader is left with a nagging question: Were humanity’s case really as Vonnegut describes it, and were this truly his belief, wouldn’t it seem that the...

Moto: Coming to America

...1|Page Business Internationalization STARBUCKS’ INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS1 Internationally, we are in our infancy. (Howard Schultz, Chairman & Chief Global Strategist – Starbucks, 2003) The expansion strategy internationally is not bullet-proof as it is in the U.S. (Mitchell J. Speiser, Analyst – Lehman Brothers, 2003) ALL’S NOT WELL WITH STARBUCKS In March 2003, Fortune came out with its annual list of “Fortune 500 companies”. For Howard Schultz (Schultz), Chairman of Starbucks Corp. (Starbucks), this list was special as Starbucks [was] featured in the list (position 465). It was a dream that come true for the Seattle-based entrepreneur. Though the U.S. economy was reeling under recession and many retail majors were reporting losses and applying for bankruptcy, Starbucks announced a 31% increase in its net earnings and a 23% increase in sales for the first quarter of 2003. Analyst felt that the success of Starbucks showed that a quality product speaks for itself and the fact that Starbucks spent less than 1% of its sales on advertising and marketing strengthened this view. In addition to be a popular brand among customers, Starbucks was also considered the best place to work due to its employee friendly policies (Starbucks was the first organization in the U.S. to offer stock options and health coverage to part-time employees also). However, analysts felt that the success of Starbucks was due to its profitable domestic operations. It was reported that most of Starbucks’...
