My Dearest Austin,

The rain drizzling all around us, the feel of the wind brushing against the yellow leaves and our jacket strings, I remember this day too well. It was one of the biggest turning points in my life. I had lost another person so close to me after that moment.

Remember the day we decided to go our separate ways? It has killed me forever since. I was trying to hold back my tears for you, but the rain helped hide it. I never wanted to see you go. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I think back to that moment everyday, and it always becomes the clearer that I messed up. I needed you more than ever, and I just left. I'm so sorry, because I didn't realize that at that moment you needed me more than ever.

She is the Executive Assistant to the CEO. In January of last year, Debra Wheeler was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. She ended up having to have single mastectomy since the cancer was only in one of her breast. She then later had to have the breast the removed and reconstructed. The way they did it was take the skin and soft tissues from the belly and use it to reconstruct her new breast. Debra’s healthy body and her positive spirit helped her to beat the cancer, now she has been cancer free for a year. She is a very strong willed person and that is why I believe is the reason that she is still here today others have not been so lucky or gave up the fight too early. With this in mind, Debra has discovered along with many breast cancer survivors that the oral contraceptives for many years were a possible cause to the reason they were diagnosed with cancer. There are more than one reason has to why we should support breast cancer. Breast cancer is something that will or has affected us all in one way or another. I. Influence of Writing

...I wish to acknowledge and express my deepest gratitude to the following people, who, in many ways, have contributed and inspired me to complete my research paper. First person in order is to Dr. AQB for providing his guidance and support in the preparation of the research paper. I am very much grateful to the NSU students, who have cooperated and taken their time to participate in answering my research questions. To my family and friends who have extended their efforts and understanding by helping me find respondents for the questionnaires, albeit some of them were prodded into doing so. A special mention goes to my dear friend, SK, who lent me her laptop when my own laptop sadly stopped functioning in my time of need. Lastly, to Almighty Allah for giving the strength to compile information needed to input into completing the research paper in due time. It has been a difficult topic to research on. ABSTRACT Writing has been playing an essential role in our lives since we learnt how to read and write. This research paper, hence, emphasizes on how writing has influenced a person and how it has managed to change his or her life. The research highlights the points on the origins of writing and how an author’s style of writing affects our personality. My hypothesis consists of how inspiration derived from other writers has given them the courage to face or help them in certain situations of life and whether written works such as research papers or journals or articles has contributed...

Business Correspondence

...FOREWORD At no time during the last three or four decades have the communication skills of individuals in the business world come under closer scrutiny than today. And never before have those who work in the business world needed better, more effective communication skills. The emerging technology appears to be increasing, rather than decreasing, the need for effective communication skills. As more individuals have ready access to desk-top equipment to process written communication, fewer support personnel will be readily available to provide editing assistance. Therefore, welldeveloped communication skills among originators are more important to success than ever before. This book is suitable for several different audiences, including undergraduate and graduate students. The organization of this manual is a logic sequence of chapters including both business communication and correspondence. The first part is dedicated to business communication and the second to business correspondence. The special features found in this edition are: 1. Examples of effective letter writing. Studies have shown students studying written business communication can learn as much, if not more, from ineffective examples of written communication as they do from effective examples. 2. Varied application problems in the writing-oriented chapters. The number of problems has been increased. While the majority of problems require the writing of a letter or report, some are designed...

Demographics of Texas Home-Schooled Students

...What is the Demographic Make-up of Home-Schooled Students in Texas? Jimmy L. Dillon Wayland Baptist University EDUC 5302 July 19, 2012 Abstract This study was conducted to try to determine what the overall demographics and make-up is of home-schooled students in Texas. The home-school phenomenon has proved to be a viable education option for parents who do not want to send their children to a public or private school. The reasons for wanting to home-school vary from parent-to-parent. Studies abound in comparing home-schooled student’s achievement to public school students with the general result that home-school students score higher on achievement test than public school students. Home-schooled consistently scored in the 82nd to 92nd percentile and the public school students scored in the 53rd – 71st percentile (Martin-Chang, Gould, & Meuse, 2011). However; are these studies comparing students from similar demographics such as economic status, region of residence, etc. or is there deep differences in demographics of the two populations which make the comparisons misleading? It has been studied and shown that a child’s socioeconomic status (SES) and overall demographics play a major factor in how well they score on academic achievement tests. The area that has not been looked at is what the overall demographics are of the average home-schooled child and if the ratio of lower SES to upper-middle class students are the same in comparison to the public school....

Pay to Play

...Pay to Play: Economic Impact of Paying College Athletes 1. Purpose of Research & Analysis On April 25, 2014, the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C., granted Northwestern University's request to review the decision made by the regional office recognizing the school's football players as employees. In mid-April, Northwestern football players voted as a team on whether or not to unionize, but the votes will only be opened if the board ends up siding with the players, which may take at least a couple of months. Ultimately, the Northwestern football players are determining their fate through this secret ballot and their decision to form the first union amongst college athletes—a decision that has the ability to change the landscape of American college sports. If granted the right to unionize, the Northwestern football team will actually have the ability to bargain over their conditions and it is expected that this could ultimately lead to requesting salary compensation for their efforts. In light of these recent historic discussions, it is critical to analyze not only the ethical, but also the economic impact of such potential situations. My research paper has been structured to shed some light into the challenging and complicated discussions that continue to occur around this topic. Specifically, I have broken my research and analysis into three key topics. First, I explore whether or not there is an underlying issue with the current state, from an economic perspective...

As a beginning professional teacher, it is advantageous to know the legal bases of education and the programs and projects of the department. It must also be clarified about the rights, responsibilities, and accountabilities as a teacher. It is important that the beginning teacher must internalize their roles, rights, obligations, and accountability that must be performed as a professional teacher. Being a part of the organization, the beginning teacher must also be aware of the programs and projects of the department through the years to achieve the goal of improving the quality of basic education. The culture inherent in the system and structure of the department also helps in giving the right perspective and insight of the organization. Higgs Boson

...Boson What is Higgs Boson? What is Higgs Boson? Higgs Boson, the “God Particle” as coined by Leon Lederman back in 1993, is the particle that made up the Higgs Field. The Higgs Field is the energy field that permeated the entire universe, according to Dr. Peter Higgs. For example, our entire universe is covered with snowfield and we know that what makes up a snowfield is a snowflake. The same way it goes with the Higgs field; it is made up of Higgs Boson (Ellis, 2013). The Higgs Boson or the Higgs Particle is the very first elementary particle that does not spin at all; it has no electric charge, nor color charge. It was officially announced to the public last year (2012), 4th of the month of July at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland. Their discovery was confirmed as the Higgs boson on March 14 this year, bringing to an end to a 50-year search. The discovery of the Higgs Boson is very important because it is said to be the missing link in our understanding of the universe, known as the Standard Model. It has also led to Professor Higgs becoming the only person ever to have a fundamental particle named after him. (Wilson, 2013).It was regarded as the “God Particle” before but many physicists did not like the way it was called.
