As I began writing my Definition paper, I had three major problems: placing my thesis, avoiding grammatical errors, and finding the origin of my word. I struggled with having just one thesis. I had two or more sentences that could have been interpreted as my thesis. In this paper, I only had two major grammatical problems: comma splices, and topic sentences. My final problem was finding the origin of my word. The word love has several different origins. I struggled with finding the correct one.
When writing a paper, you should always have a thesis. It should be one strong sentence which explains what you are going to discuss in your paper. The details that you discuss in your three body paragraphs should always relate back to your thesis. When

Reflection Paper

...Reflection Paper Shannon B. Payton Liberty University Introduction This paper is about reflecting on what was covered in Theology 104. There are many Christians who understand that God loves us and wants the best for His children. There are many subjects, videos, and extracted material that has been read or discussed over the span of four weeks which has given me a better understanding of the Bible and Christianity. My reflection for this paper I have chosen two topics that I have chosen to address for this paper. First, topic I have chosen will be Grace and secondly I will be focusing on Love. Grace Theological definition of “grace” as many scholar s of the bible will define this word as the unmerited favor of God toward man. Grace can also be defined as like forgiveness, repentance, regeneration and salvation to mean something as broad as describing the whole of God’s activity towards man or as narrow as describing one segment of activity (Baker’s Evangelical Bible Dictionary). Often times many would attribute grace toward s how women carry themselves and even in the bible grace can be defined through many scripture as action of one who are in high position. Biblical Foundation The first time Grace has been in mentioned was in Genesis chapter 8 because of Noah obedience to God and God was tired or as the bible scholar would state grieved by man’s wickedness and caused God to erase mankind. In all this, Noah found favor with God. Here the word favor and grace...

Theology

...Theology Reflection Paper I. Introduction. Throughout the course of this class, my understandings of the bible and its principles have grown to new lengths. I have always been a serious follower of the Christian faith but I have taken the teachings I have received in the realm of acceptance. The ideas that are brought about in the readings have allowed me to digest the concept that my faith is backed by truth, proof and evidence. Taking what I have learned in the past and directing my newly found information, I have learned that it is okay to think critically about my faith. While thinking about the bible and how applicable its relation to the world is, I have found that I trust my faith even more. The ideas that have made me think differently about being a Christian are compound. I have been able to think critically which has allowed me to find new ways to explore my faith and prove its presence. II. Part One: Enlightenment of Faith a. Theological Definition The Theological definition of faith is one that describes an almost certain idea that although one may be entirely confused, if they have faith, guidance will be delivered through many types of faith. Now this concept contains many facets and although there are many ways that faith can be displayed, it is most evident that faith is derived from the teachings in the bible itself. b. Biblical Foundation “The source and foundation of all faith is the Bible,” (Towns, 1). Knowing...

Reflection Paper 2

...104 5 March 2015 Reflection Paper 2 I. Introduction Throughout this entire course, I have definitely received a better understanding of Scripture. Not only has my faith strengthened, God has also been working a miracle in my life. In this particular essay, my goal is to discuss the effects of prayer, as well as reconciliation. II. Part One a. Theological Definition The theological definition of prayer, according to the Web Bible Encyclopedia is “a conversation with God; the intercourse of the soul with God, not in contemplation or mediation, but in direct address to him”. b. Biblical Foundation The words pray or prayer is mentioned in the Old and New Testament a total of 313 times. In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 God even states, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” c. Practical Application Since I became a believer in 2007, I constantly have been trying to have a better prayer life. However, in November 2012, my prayer life became number one in my life. Without going into too much detail, I began dating a guy whom my parents did not approve of. During this time, when my parents’ relationship with me was shattered, God began to give me strength to seek Him with my decision as to whether or not to continue seeing this young man. I sought after not man’s wisdom, but God’s alone and over a year’s time, God began to give me an answer. Although, my family rejected me and I lost...

What Is Terrorism

...Maria Oldham PSC 441 2-13-13 The multitude of differentiating definitions of terrorism through out the world’s governments, agencies, and international community has led to a confusing and bleak understanding of the true nature of terrorism. Now I do not believe that my definition of terrorism will be any better in helping understand this matter but it does help define my personal view of terrorism, terrorists, and their tactics. My definition of terrorism is any deliberate, planed use of force or violence, or the threat of such actions, against innocent people, with the aim of inducing fear or intimidating some other group of people into a specific course of action for political, religious, philosophical, or ideological aims. In my paper I want to examine the implications of my definition with regard to my assertion that terrorism is only carried out against innocent people. In my definition I define terrorism as actions or threats of actions against innocent people. To me this is a very important idea. I feel that terrorism works because it induces fear in the general public and people become afraid because they are faced with the fact that even though they have done nothing wrong they could be attacked. I feel that violence is never legitimate when used on innocent people and thus a terrorist is never legitimate because they are attacking innocent people and that can never be seen as a justified act. The idea that the victim of terrorism has to be innocent has many...

Com 156 Week 8 Assignment

... I will use definitions in my paper. The reason is many people know that they have the option to rent or buy a home but they are not all familiar with the terminology. Rental property, investment property, equity, and principal and interest (P&I) are all terms that many people may not be familiar with. The whole point of my paper is to try to persuade someone to buy a home instead of renting for the rest of their lives. I cannot persuade someone to do something if they cannot understand the points that I am trying to make. Therefore definitions, or at least a quick explanation, would absolutely benefit my paper. Also, if I use terms that the audience does not understand this can make them decide to stop reading or completely shut out the possibility of considering my ideas. I would not feel comfortable, or see the point, of reading a story in a language that I did not understand. The same applies to reading information in any essay. The point of creating a persuasive essay is to persuade the reader. This can only be done if the reader can comprehend the material. I believe that compare and contrast could definitely work in my favor when trying to persuade the audience, it can also work against me. I do not want to list too many negative points about renting because that will make the reader think that I am trying to push my ideas on them. On the other hand, I do want to point out some of the major points that will help me persuade my audience. The trick...

Define Marketing

...Define Marketing Paper 1 Define Marketing Paper MKT/421 Define Marketing Paper 2 Marketing is very essential for a company to succeed; this is how people learn about a product or service. A person learning about a product or service is not all that marketing does, marketing entails more than that. I will discuss my personal definition of marketing along with formal definitions with example to support my explanations. Personal Definition When I think of marketing I think of it as the opportunity to grab a person’s attention so that they become interested in your product or services. I think Costco has a great idea on how to grab people’s attention to sale the products they have in their warehouse. For instance they have people come in and demonstrate the products they sale, for example I had seen this blinder a few times in the store never paid much attention until one day I went in and they were demonstrating how it work all the health benefits and offered it at a discount and gave coupons for frozen fruit. By doing this they got my attention and sold me the blinder and the fruit. They even demonstrate food I have bought food several times that were not on my list just because I tasted and wanted to it. At the end of each year they give their customers a free cookbook, and now they are offering a bulletin board to help promote the small businesses in their area. Showing that you care about your customers keeps them coming back and telling others. Formal...

...personal goals, and following through with them. Whether you achieve your desired result or not, you have succeeded just by trying. Everyone’s vision of success differs. Success takes many different definitions. People have different interpretations of what success really means. For me is as simple as: living well and laughing often. The idea of living well is a very broad statement. Living well, in my opinion is getting success in personal, social and professional life. If I can achieve all of these three levels of success, I believe that I have lived well. Personal success for me is being able enjoy little things that life has to offer. For instance; understanding and appreciating diversity. To have someone to love and treasure, to meet the right person, fall in love, and get marry. To feel that I’m able to love my child and pass on wisdom to him .Feeling that someone loves me, is something that makes me completely happy and successful. Because I believe that without love, life is not thoroughly complete, thus never truly achieve success. I believe that, by being mentally and physically healthy, I have achieved personal success. When I get home to see my loving husband, my loved child, and then I’m able to sit down, relax and appreciate life, then I’m successful in my own right. Social success has a lot to do with the natural tendencies that I as human posses. For instance, I have identified good friends that I can count on as well as they can count...

Definition of Health

...the release of this definition, and subsequent goal, 66 years ago, the definition of health has not been amended by the WHO. Since no change has been made in almost seven decades, the question arises: is this definition still relevant today? In my opinion, the definition that was provided in 1948 is not applicable today. As Alejandro R Jadad put it in his 2008 paper "In the end, we might conclude that any attempt to define health is futile; that health, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder; and that a definition cannot capture its complexity (Jadad and O’Grady)." I believe the WHO’s definition no longer holds true in today's standards. While this definition is comprehensive, in the sense it includes several types of well-being as well as absence of disease, I feel there are a few discrepancies. First, I disagree with the word "complete" in the definition. I feel that it isn't possible to be in a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being one hundred percent of the time. If this was true then it would mean many of us would be considered unhealthy. Secondly, with the advances in medical technology such as imaging, screening of genes and further understanding of human physiology, I feel it is impossible to be completely lacking in disease. In today's world, health needs to have a more in depth definition. In his 2008 paper, Why the Definition of Health Matters, Dr. Peter Davies suggests health has a biomedical component and the definition needs to...

Integrity: How Does One Define Integrity?

...because how can you trust the man or woman standing next to you if you cannot trust their integrity. This is a paper explaining what the word integrity means and how it applies to everyone, even if it is not always a value followed. But that is not the sole purpose of this paper; I will also be covering how this applies to everyone’s everyday lives, as my own personal definition of integrity and other values, as well as some examples of how integrity makes a squad stronger or a team in general. Why does integrity apply to everyone? First you must cover the book definition of the word. And integrity’s book definition is as follows, the quality of being honest and having strong moral principle, as read in the Oxford Living Dictionary. An example of this is being honest to others even if you know you will be getting in trouble for the action that put you into the situation. This is a simple way to show respect to the person you are speaking to, whether they be appointed over you or appointed under you. It is not just a one way street, if you cannot be...

Records Management

...RECORDS AND ‘RECORDNESS’ INTRODUCTION The purpose of this assignment is twofold. To test understanding and to demonstrate that the overall quality of my chosen sample is based on a reasoned and unbiased evaluation. I will describe my sample, highlight its ‘recordness’ against the internationally recognised standard and underline its key criteria. In so doing my aim is to make an objective comparison and simultaneously corroborate my understanding of the essence of what makes a record. First, some background. Surprisingly, despite the fact that records has been a kept by us for thousands of years it was not until relatively recently (2001) that an internationally accepted records management standard, known as ISO 15489 set out a standard definition of a record. Accordingly, a record as set out in ISO 15489, is defined as “information created, received, and maintained as evidence and information by an organization or person, in pursuance of legal obligations or in the transaction of business.” Against this definition I have chosen a record that I refer to regularly at work to test its ‘recordness’. My sample is the Foreign Office's (FCO) Archive Inventory of its paper Inventory. The FCO’s paper file inventory consists of data from both the 2013 and 2014 record audits and is a full inventory of its archive holdings and is an accurate record of the FCO corporate business activities by the various departments of the organisation and provides information of the records...

Personal Responsibility

...| It Is My Responsibility To Be A College Success | What I Need To Do To Achieve Success As A College Student | | | There is a correlation between personal responsibility and college success because a student has to be willing to put forth the effort required to achieve a successful college career, develop relationships with instructors, and choose what type of success they want to have throughout their college profession. | When thinking about the phrase, personal responsibility, several different definitions come to my mind. It means taking accountability for my own welfare. Personal responsibility can signify that I am responsible for the choices that I make in my life. I can go on and on about different ways that this phrase can be interpreted. However, I think it would be best if I began by breaking down the phrase into two parts, and deciphering each word. Let us start with the word, personal. Merriam-Webster defines personal, in its adjective form, as “done in person without the intervention of another”. The word, responsibility means “the state at which one is held accountable for one’s conduct and obligations”. [ (Encyclopedia Britannica Company, 2012) ] If we were to take both of these definitions and combine them, you would get my definition of personal responsibility. A person demonstrates personal responsibility when s/he is liable for any actions that they perform, and any choices that they choose to make. This definition not only places responsibility...

Knowledge Managemnt

...Knowledge Management? 1.1 Part (a) The definition by Wiig (2004) is objectified and externalized in the sense that it does view knowledge management as a collective responsibility. According to the definition, knowledge is considered as an asset of an enterprise and as to such; there is no special emphasis on the knowledge held by a single individual. Instead, knowledge is managed for the collective benefit of an enterprise. On the contrary, the definition by Corso et al. (2006, p.210) portrays knowledge management to be subjective and personal. The definition lays focus on the creation of an environment for knowledge acquisition and sharing. It therefore implies that it is upon an individual to utilize the environment to learn or gain knowledge. Moreover, the definition by Wiig (2004) is more relevant to practice as it encourages the building, renewal and application of knowledge in order to make an enterprise to benefit from its intellectual and knowledge assets. The argument here is that according to the definition, knowledge should be applied or put to practice. In the same respect, the definition by Corso et al. (2006, p.210) is more theory-oriented. It is more relevant to theory in the sense that it talks about encouraging people to share knowledge and learn. It should be noted that it is difficult to detect whether one is learning or not. Also, some people would not be willing to share what they know. Both the two definitions of knowledge management are specifically...

...Marketing Definition Paper University of Phoenix MKT/421 - Marketing June 6, 2011 Marketing Definition Paper In this paper, I will provide my personal definition of marketing, and definitions from two different sources. Based on these definitions, I will explain the importance of marketing in organizational success, providing at least three examples from the business world. My personal definition of marketing is the promoting of products or services in such a way to make them desirable to the public. Marketing is satisfying the needs of customers, and creating the environment that products or services appear valuable. BusinessDictionary.com defines marketing as the management process in which services and goods progress from innovation to the customer. As a practice, it consists of four elements: selection, identification, and development of a product, price determination, distribution channel selection, and the development and implementation of a promotional strategy (Business Dictionary, 2010). MarketingPower.com defines marketing as the set of principles, and processes for creating, exchanging, communicating, and delivering offerings that create innovation for clients, partners, customers, and society (Marketing Power, 2007). Camus 'Creating Dangerously': An Analysis

...I wasn’t born into a dictatorship neither did I live in fear for my life when I read books, but I do understand what Camus’ definition of what Creating Dangerously is. Throughout my life I have written essays for different classes, but the class that led me to understanding Camus definition was my 12th grade English Class. In this class one day we were talking about masks (similarly to this years UM class), after a while of discussing what a mask was the teacher stated that we all had one. When she stated that I swear she directed her body towards me. Suddenly I started thinking why did the teacher just stare at me? It doesn’t make any sense. Then it came to me, it’s in my writing. What I am trying to explain is that when I write I always notice...
