There will be a moment in your life that you will go under a lot of stress, and frustration that the outcome is where you changed into a better person, or you improved in a certain skill. For me, I was stressed balancing between schoolwork and helping at home right after my oldest brother left for college. First of all, stress is the needs that makes an individual adapt to a certain environment (Rathus 2016). Also, the healthy stress is known as eustress, and the definition of eustress is mainly the outcome of the stress that is good, or healthy (Rathus 2016). My eustress story is that right when my third oldest brother left for college, responsibility to help out my parents fell onto my shoulders. I had to come straight home from school to

Julia's Tribute

...For those of you that don't know me my name is Brittany. I work at The Willows at Citation where I took care of Julia. For the short 3 months and 11 days that I knew Julia. I've learned something that no book could possibly ever teach me. On our Journey together I was constantly being moved and touched in ways that I often cannot describe. To live with Alzheimer's and still laugh, love and find joy is nothing short of amazing. I never got that chance to meet Julia when she was full of life and energy. Instead God blessed me with Julia on May 6th of this year. God had also blessed me with the ability to really connect with Julia. I spent many nights by her bedside, I've spent many hours listening, I've shared many tears with her daughter's and I've experienced many lifelong connections. Julia taught me the importance of living in the moment and finding joy in the small things. No two minutes were alike. Things were constantly changing and it put us on the wildest roller coaster ride imaginable. I must say it took a while and I'm sure I'm speaking for a few others when I say this but I came to realize that in order to survive, you must live in the moment and appreciate each and every good thing that happens, no matter how small. Sometimes you really have to dig deep to find the good in a lousy situation. The interesting thing is that bar is constantly moving. That thing that may have seemed completely insignificant a few months ago, can suddenly become the joy that gets...

...First Television Interview." Fox Movietone News. Fox     Movietone News, FMN, April 30, 1931.               I found this source important to my research due to the fact that it’s a firsthand interview with Mahatma Gandhi and it shows his values and beliefs during that time period. Also within the video he says what his “plan of attack” is which is useful to hear from Mahatma Gandhi himself. However since this picture is a newscast they could have taken things out that they didn't want other people to hear or didn't believe themselves which is a negative. Another negative is that it doesn’t show the peoples beliefs at the time it just shows Mahatma Gandhi’s. Gandhi, Mahatma. "Mahatma Gandhi." Speech, Mahatma Gandhi from India, London, October 17, 1931.               I found this source useful due to the fact that is a speech and it shows Mahatma Gandhi’s views himself and it’s not an interview its him speaking to a crowd, However due to the fact that during a speech you’re trying to persuade a group of people. Mahatma could’ve said some things that he really didn't mean and he could've said it just to have people agree with him. Also it could be considered unreliable because it’s on YouTube and someone could have edited it and took things out. Gandhi, Mahatma. Mass Media -Advantages and Disadvantages

...Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in the town of Porbander in the state of what is now Gujarat on 2 October 1869. He had his schooling in nearby Rajkot, where his father served as the adviser or prime minister to the local ruler. Though India was then under British rule, over 500 kingdoms, principalities, and states were allowed autonomy in domestic and internal affairs: these were the so-called 'native states'. Rajkot was one such state. Gandhi later recorded the early years of his life in his extraordinary autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth. His father died before Gandhi could finish his schooling, and at thirteen he was married to   Kasturibai, who was of the same age as Mohandas himself . In 1888 Gandhi set sail for England, where he had decided to pursue a degree in law. Though his elders objected, Gandhi could not be prevented from leaving; and it is said that his mother, a devout woman, made him promise that he would keep away from wine, women, and meat during his stay abroad. Gandhi left behind his son Harilal, then a few months old. In London, Gandhi encountered theosophists, vegetarians, and others who were disenchanted not only with industrialism, but with the legacy of Enlightenment thought. They themselves represented the fringe elements of English society. Gandhi was powerfully attracted to them, as he was to the texts of the major religious traditions; and ironically it is in London that he was introduced to the Bhagavad Gita. Here, too, Gandhi...

How Stress Management Affects the Work and Relationship of Less-Fortunate Families

...How Stress Management Affects the Work and Relationship of Less-Fortunate Families The word “stress” is derived from the Latin strictus and the Old French etrace. In the past, the word has been used to designate both a stimulus (a force or pressure that causes distress) and a response to that stimulus (adversity, affliction). Currently, it is used to describe a situation wherein a person suffers an adversity that still persists even after mustering up all the necessary resrouces, threatening their well-being (Auerbach, 1998). Despite this, the so called “eustress” (or “good” or “pleasant” stress), a word coined by Hans Selye during the 1950’s is described as the state wherein a person incorporates the feelings of stress in his work, using the stress as a driving force to ultimately complete a task that is initially daunting. Stressors are the sources or causes of stress. These include physical, emotional, intellectual, social, economic and spiritual factors (Girdano, et al., 1997). Stress Management is the ability to reduce stress arousal or to cope competently with stressors. The paper aims to identify the different stessors within the household and explain, in depth, how these factors affect the family dynamics. By the end of the research, the proponents aim to provide several coping methods appropriate for the types of stress families are experiencing. We have identified verious stressors of parents and children among less-fortunate families. Stressors of parents include...

For example, one of my close friends was a former sports leader, and I came along to one of his session to watch him performs in his sports leadership sessions; he did a football session with the kids. I watched the session and he turned a difficult football session into a fun one for the children, as one of the first issue was that group of amateur footballers didn’t have the right technique to fully volley a football on target towards the goal, this is considering that the goal was a few metres away from them, so that the kids didn’t find it to challenging. Since some of the kids didn’t know how to kick the ball properly. They struggled to perform to a good standard and this will...

S ylvia Noreen thought that working at a small hospital in Prince Edward Island would reduce the stress she had experienced as a nurse in Ontario for 17 years. Instead, she discovered that Stewart Memorial Hospital nurses in Tyne Valley also experience unacceptable stress levels due to budget cuts and staff shortages. “There can be a lot of demands made on you,” says Noreen. “The workload can get quite strenuous at times.” With no vacations during her first year at Stewart, Noreen’s scheduled days off were precious time to recharge her batteries. Unfortunately, those moments were fewer than she had hoped. “We’re faced with being called back on our days off,” Noreen says. “It is trying at times.” Canadian nurses and other health care workers are feeling some of the highest levels of stress and burnout of any occupation across the country. Final Paper

...CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION THE PROBLEM Nursing school is an exciting, challenging adventure that will demand much of nursing students in terms of time and energy. Because nursing is a discipline comprising knowledge from many related fields, student nurse will be asked to learn to think critically, synthesize information, and then apply it to situations involving live people. (Dewit, 2003) A student may face many challenges and stressors. However, nursing students are likely to experience even “more stress” than their friends and colleagues enrolled in other programs.  To support this statement, a study comparing the stress levels of various professional students found that nursing students experience higher levels of stress than medical, social work and pharmacy students (Beck, et al.1997). Even more poignant, another study showed that “one third” of nursing students experience stress severe enough to induce mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. (Pryjmachuk, 2004). One source of stress of nursing students is their Learning Experience. The related learning experience is a series of planned activities in the community that would prepare students technically and professionally should they decide to pursue higher education in the health profession. Specifically, in a selected College of nursing, BSN students spend a maximum of 24 hours a week for their duty wherein they engage in activities such as nurse-patient interaction, nursing procedures...
