My Favorite Place

Through out the whole world, there are plenty of places where people love to go. Some may be a certain area, a store, a home, or even a different country. One place can hold special values to one person. Whether it’s a memory or memories, a feeling, or even just being in the environment. All of it leads up to being a persons “favorite place”.
Everyone has a favorite place in their home, a place where he or she can be him or herself. Somewhere you can find peace and harmony. For some it's a quiet place, for others it's a hustling, bustling, full of people and movement place. But all of these places have one thing in common; they are places where you'd run to in times of both joy and stress.
There is one place to me that makes me feel like I am the only one in the world. I chose this place because its stress free. It’s the only place in my house where I can be myself. I don’t have to worry about what others have to say. I can lay back and relax on my bed. A lot of times I just lay down and close my eyes and daydream about places I'd like to see or think about things that make me happy. One thing I do not do is think about things I need to get done or anything that makes me feel stressed because then I’ll never feel relaxed. I usually try to stay away from these kinds of thoughts and it usually works out well. Being able to watch whatever I please on my own television. Even playing my Xbox 360, without having to share with my brothers. Having the opportunity to stay up all night, listening to music. Designing my room the way I want it. My bedroom is like paradise on earth. Well maybe not paradise, but to me it means a lot. It gives me a peace of mind. My bedroom is the place where I can honestly and proudly say; I wouldn’t mind being locked up in for a day. A bedroom color has much more meaning than just the paint on the walls. In my mind it’s a little deeper. The walls are painted North Carolina blue. I chose this color because it gives me a very nice calm feeling. As if you’re away on a tropical island around some pretty blue water, surrounded by gorgeous palm trees, with some soft warm sand. It is the kind of color that just makes you just want lay back on your soft comfy bed, and just let your mind wonder. The color is also my favorite; it just stands out like none other. I believe it also fits my personality. Being though I’m very calm when you first get to know me. Then after we have had to chance to get to know one another, I’m going to be the one that stands out.
It is a known statement that “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain”-Bob Marley. I find this very true. Even with my favorite genres being Gospel, Rhythm and Blues (also known as R & B). It plays a major role in my favorite place. These genres to me are relaxing, soothing, and very soft. Gospel alone is very passionate to me. Being raised in a Christian family, I’ve listened to it all my life. There is a strong connection, as if it’s just the Lord and I. But that’s a totally different topic. There are plenty different (Gospel) songs, where I can just listen to the words and actually feel that are telling my life story. Some give me that, just want to get up and dance feeling. Other’s may make me just want to sit lay across my bed and cry. Not always being sad, but joyful, and grateful tears. Gospel music is just very spiritual.
R & B on the other hand is mostly for enjoyment. R & B is where I could say the soothing comes in. It’s the type of genre, where if you’re really into the song you want to hear every word. The lyrics alone can be that one thing that grabs your attention. The melody or tempo can be the very thing describing your mood at the time. An R & B song could also change your mood from the kind of day you had. Only one word comes to mind when I think of words like secret or confidentiality. Privacy has to be the “BEST” thing about my bedroom. Whenever my mom is nagging at me or when I'm stressed out with school or work, I like to go into my room and just be alone. My door gets closed and locked. As if I’m away from the world in my only own space. Not having to deal with all the stress and drama going on. I can leave all the negativity at the door. Not having to worry about others, such as family, friends or co-workers. Its peaceful and quiet sometimes. Depending if the television is on, or the music being played.
I believe that other people feel the same way about their rooms and homes. It gives people a sense of security. In a way that you can control what goes in your room and who goes in your room. It sort of gives people power, which may mean a lot to some people. Especially when you know it belongs to you and you only. To some it may be their only place where they feel most comfortable, to “kick off their shoes and relax their feet.” Every bedroom has something special about it. This bedroom, however, is where I spend the majority of my time. It’s not just a place for sleeping, but it’s also a place for socializing. I do everything in that room. Socializing is a big part in my life, and my laptop makes that easier. Every night I can sit on my bed and roam the Internet; you would think it gets boring. When dinner is ready, my socializing is over, and I have to leave my room. And when the time passes, I go back in. The first thing I see when I walk into my bedroom is my black art, located on the left side of the wall. It is a picture of two young African-American little girls, sitting in a very fancy chair together sleep. With the caption “Waiting Up” under it, by and artist named, M.Byers. The next thing I notice is my flat screen television on a mount. Surrounded by my cable box, my Xbox system, controllers, and a few games, right under it on a glass table. Followed by my closet, filled with mostly dirty clothes. Due to fact my hamper is located in my closet. I do have some clothes hanging up in my closet, but they are all church clothes. You will also notice my cherry wood dresser, covered in perfumes, lotion, and other female products. With my mirror on the back smothered with pictures of, my family, friends, and I. Right next to it you have my little wooden trashcan. Followed by my DVD/CD collection. This goes from my Destiny’s Child Concert’s all the way to my Tyler Perry’s movies and plays. Then you have my nice and (sometimes) comfy queen size bed, covered with my two shades of blue comforter. Right behind my bed is a white as snow window, I don’t get the chance to open it, and it doesn’t have a screen. With another little cherry wood night stand on the right side of my bed. Holding up my blue and gray alarm clock, blue and sliver lava lamp, an old green and silver basketball trophy, and a few little African-American manikins. On the wall almost right beside it is another white as snow window. Very often I have the opportunity to open it, just so a nice breeze to come through. This window also gives me the view of my whole neighborhood, being as though my room is located upstairs in the front part of the house. I’m a HUGE Tweety Bird fan so I have nice size Tweety almost in every corner of my room. I even have a small white cage hanging from my ceiling with a little Tweety inside. I have a thing for tennis shoes. I only wear Jordan’s, Nikes, New Balances, (sometimes Polo’s). So they are spread around my room in and out of shoeboxes.

My point is that everybody has a place that is his or her favorite and has a meaning or memory. A lot of times it is a person’s bedroom or home because it belongs to them and they cherish these places. Bedrooms are a place of comfort and in some cases a sense of security. It is a place of privacy when we need to be alone or just to sit down and take a load off. We can just be ourselves. Being away from the world. Not having to deal with outside life ups and down, or just plain drama. But being able to feel as though the world has stop, and you gather all your thoughts. That is how my bedroom equals up to being my “favorite” place.

My Favorite Place

...My Favorite Place Gatlinburg, Tennessee is my favorite place to be for many reasons. In the city there are many small stores and different restaurants to choose from. There is never a boring moment at any time of the day. Every time I visit Gatlinburg I always have an awesome and eventful time. My main favorite place in Tennessee is my grandma’s house. My grandma has always kept many farm and house animals. In the backyard there is an old gray barn with white doors, four windows, and the paint is slowly peeling away on the outside. The barn contains a few pigs, cows, and chickens. She always has had a dog inside the house, currently a caramel colored Boxer named Sammy. About a mile from each side of her house are two big farms. One farm grows different crops such as hay and corn. The other farm has many cows roaming around inside of a fenced area while grazing on hay. There is also an oval shaped pond in her backyard. After a long day I always swim in the pond and in the middle of it there is a huge navy blue raft I swim to and sit on for a while. The pond also stocked with fish so it’s fun to go fishing in too. I love visiting my grandma during the summer because it is very peaceful and eventful. Another reason I enjoy being in Tennessee is the extremely beautiful weather that it has. There are consistent hot and sunny temperatures. In the summer it is usually around 80-100+ degrees outside. During this time I’m never occupied in the house at all and I’m pretty much living...

My Favorite Place

...Working to find my inner peace, I go from place to place just looking for the solitude. A warm, comforting place that I may call my own. That place has been found and not many can claim it for it is mine. Out in the rolling country side of Fort Meade, Florida is a dream just unfolding. The Sunkist sunrise and sunset, the breath taking stars, and the calm, solitary squeeze against my being just makes it all the more better. On the outskirts of the Lilliputian town there is nothing more than the everlasting land where it’s hard to tell where the sky starts and where it stops. Nothing more than a relationship between nature and myself. Cool breezes drag the scent of pine trees and water through the air and the grass grows tall and dark green. Hawks, pigeons, and quails make beautiful music as their aria begins to sync. So the only sounds you can hear are the arias being sung and the wind blowing through my hair. The sunset glows of many pinks, yellows, lavenders, and blues as the day begins to kiss the land goodnight. The numerous birds flee to their nests as they begin to drift into slumber as the night is just beginning. The luminous moon rises to the center of the dark, velvet curtain. Its illumination kisses every tree, strand of grass, and the mist obscuring the few houses that scatter the land. Although the birds are nestled in their homes, the foxes, raccoons, and creatures of the night come out to find their next meal. No longer is there a breeze brushing my skin for it is...

This famous children’s story written in 1865 is an early example of the fantasy or nonsense genre. The story plays with time, imagery, logic and language and for this reason remains popular with adult readers as well as children. You will meet many species of talking animals as well as characters from the pack of cards. You will encounter unusual interesting usages of language such as 'curiouser' and 'uglification'. CHAPTER I. Down the Rabbit-Hole Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had looked into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, 'and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice 'without pictures or conversation?' So she was considering in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her...

...The Musketeer in Me—Vikas One fundamental rule of reincarnation is that you do not know your past life. Well, it seems as though I broke that rule. In fact, I am absolutely certain that my past reincarnation was none other than d’Artagnan, the fourth musketeer. Knowing that is a gift. It makes the arduous process of describing the entirety of my personality in 500 words or less, possible. I can simply toss Alexandre Dumas’ biographical recount of my past life and say, “That’s me,” and those two words would mean everything. They make me that noble and heroic Gasconian that set out to Paris with nothing more than a yellow, hairless pony and a dream of grandeur. Alas, times have changed. The Musketeers, dueling, and horses, they have all become relics of the past. A new era and new circumstances bring a different life. Now, I am a first generation, 17-year-old American living in Jersey. My yellow, hairless horse is an old, squeaky Toyota Camry: its modern equivalent. My stunning silver-gilded rapier and armour have been replaced by a BIC pen and legal pad. However, all those changes are superficial. Inside, I still dream of the same grandeur. I dream, with every fiber of my body, that one day I will become a Newtonian giant holding a Nobel Prize. That one day I will support the innovation and ingenuity that fuels our evolving world. The only challenge is that there are millions of people that share the same dream as me, so what makes me different? Well, even if the...

My Favorite Place on Campus

...Mr. Stephens Essay 1 September 9, 2013 My Favorite Place on Campus As I sit under the pavilion, I begin to recognize and appreciate how relaxing and refreshing the atmosphere around me truly is. Whether your purpose is to study, have fun or relax, the pavilion is the perfect place to do it. Many students agree that the best place on campus to study is under the pavilion. Other students say that they have had the most memorable experiences of their lives there. One of my absolute favorite places to study and do homework is underneath the pavilion. There, students will find themselves feeling peaceful and tranquil. When the birds and crickets chirp there is a soft and calming noise that echoes throughout the pavilion making one feel relaxed and serene. At times, studying can be extremely stressful, but with the wind blowing just right and the sounds of nature buzzing in my ear, I feel a sudden sense of peace. Focusing on schoolwork for long periods of time is a challenge for some students, but being under the pavilion helps most students unwind and focus on your goals. Students come to the pavilion on a regular basis, whether to play games or to simply have a conversation. It is a great place to gather with other people and to get to know fellow classmates a little bit better. Many of the relationships that form around OC will last a lifetime, and I can personally say that many of these connections and memories originate from under the pavilion’s roof. Some...

Music Essay: My Favorite Place To England

...Sitting on the front porch of his small house on the beaches of the Isle of Mann, my grandfather, Davy, plays his “Gibson ES-335” guitar without an amplifier. The trees blow in the wind as Davy continues to play, uninterrupted by anything in this world. This isle is just off the coast of England and has so much culture and beauty. I’ve only been to this place once, and while we were there we visited many of the great places in England, but that was when I was very young so I do not remember much about it. One day I hope to revisit that place to experience the music, the food, and just the way of life of the people who actually live out there. I wish to have a life like my grandfather Davy did one day. A life where I do not have a worry in the world, a life where I can just sit on the beaches and play my music. My grandfather died one day, not too long after our visit, but sometimes if I close my eyes, and listen closely, I can still hear his guitar playing in the cool breeze, as the waves...

My Favorite Place And Sympathy In Oedipus The King

...One thing that stands out to me in this section of King’s book is his mention of his favorite place and telepathy. First of all, I have yet to find my favorite place. I agree with King in the respect that a favorite place should be quiet, have good lighting, be comfortable yet not too comfortable, and lend to assisting us in being descriptive enough to paint a picture with fuzzy lines. I say fuzzy lines, because a writer needs to be able to explain and paint a picture, enabling the reader to use their imagination, making the story their own. Imagination and inventiveness on the part of the reader enables the reader to fall into their own resourceful fantasy, permanently connecting them to the writer’s story, their own story. The writer wins. Sometimes my favorite place is anywhere there’s quiet. No television, no phone ringing or doorbell chiming, no water or refrigerator running, put simply, no interruptions. Other times, sitting outside in the fresh air with the sun warming my skin and the birds singing their songs, I feel as though I’m one with nature, my thoughts being channeled into a world that can only be described by a beautiful painting, beautiful melodic music, or a compilation of beautiful words. This is usually just a dream, because someone is always mowing or using their leaf blower, and the...

New York

...My favorite place I am very family person. The most of my family live in New York. I try to visit New York at least once a year. I would consider New York my favorite place for several reasons. The number one reason: since I am an active duty in the military, it's so hard to take leave from my work. Before I visit to see my family, I let my brothers-in-law know that I am coming to NY. Me and my brothers-in-law get together and take out the whole family out to Bear Mountain, where we cook out, swim in the pool and spend quality time with each other. My second reason is that New York never sleeps. I love going out during the nightfall because of the lights of the buildings and city noises inspires me. After long day, me and my friends gather at one of our favorite Uzbek restaurant, which is called Naris cafe.  The food over there is excellent, and they are open till late at night. After we are done eating, we go to play pool. Another reason why New York City is my favorite place because of its tall buildings, history, and where culture is intertwined with its people. I love walking in busy sidewalk, and seeing different faces from all around the world. It never gets tiring. If you have never been in New York City, you should come visit. You will have great experience, and it might become your favorite place...

Last year I made up my mind to go to Canada not only to experience different cultures, but to study how to speak English well. Calgary in Canada is my favorite place because of some characteristic : A tourist attraction, friend, food. Even though I went to Calgary through working holiday program visa to work and study English, many tourist attractions tempted me into enjoying them. The Calgary Stampede which is the biggest festival in Canada is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary. As soon as I got to the festival, there were a lot of people from other countries. It looked like vehicles were bumper to bumper. Also, delicious hot dogs was tempting me to buy them, giving off attractive smell. In the middle of the festival were horrible rides and rodeo event in which cowboys show different skills, including riding wild horses, catching cattle with ropes and a thrilling race. When I went into Calgary’s downtown, I could easily find a big tower, the Calgary Tower. The Calgary tower is the tallest structure in Calgary. When I arrived at the top floor of the Calgary tower, bright sunshine welcomed me with smile and the tower gave me a scenic view of downtown through a wide window....
