~My Kissing Hand~ Love Is Always With Me.

In my palm, I hold the love. I squeeze the love. I feel the love. I love the love. Cherishing my possession, I press my palm to my fiery, blotchy cheek, and I remember that the love is always with me. Inside of my young hand, warmth radiates through the rest of my body as I hold it to my face. I think to myself what my mommy has told me hundreds and hundreds of times, “‘Mommy loves you. Mommy loves you.’” I wipe away the salty tears; I wipe away my fears. Breathe Justina, just breathe. It will be okay. You will be okay. Mommy’s love is with you. I have a kissing hand. My kissing hand has unlimited amounts of kisses stored inside. It holds a magic kiss from mommy; the kiss that will stay there forever, and with it’s superpowers, my right hand has the ability to infuse my body with love and warmth when it is placed on my cheek. Mommy’s love is always with me, even when mommy is not.
When I first got my kissing hand, I was just like Chester the raccoon, a character from one of my favorite books. Like Chester, I knew I was going to miss Mommy when we were apart. I wasn’t happy about it either. So she gave me a magic smooch in the palm of my hand when I was outside of my daddy’s house-- what used to be our house, where we all lived together. She …show more content…
Summer is AMAZING! I thought to myself. What I didn’t realize was that I was going to be away from Mommy for seven consecutive days. On the way there we listened to music and sang along like any old cliche movie scene, but that is just the kind of thing my Daddy and I do. After the long four hour journey, we finally drove up the gravel driveway. I grabbed my suitcase out of the trunk and sprinted to the house, the wheels on the bag nearly popping off from spinning so fast. Once I got in the house, my smile almost touching my eyes, Grandma and Grandpa hugged and greeted

Same Sex Marraige

...Merrie Hill Final research paper Same sex marriage has been a hot topic in the news lately, as well as in the political arena. Marriage between a man and a man or a woman and a woman are felt by many to be morally wrong, but is it really? Or do these people fear the unknown and are using morality as the excuse for their negligence of the unknown? The utilitarian follow the utilitarian moral guide lines in their beliefs utilitarian’s would not be against same sex marriages. However if the Ethical egoist follows their moral guide lines then it is believed that they would be against same sex marriages. In this paper I am going to try to show you what has brought me to these beliefs and how I believe ones morals may differ in the pursuit of society’s happiness. Utilitarianism is about obtaining the greatest good for the greatest number of people. With that said utilitarian’s would not be against two people in love, joining together in the sanctity of marriage. According to Webster’s dictionary utilitarianism is defined as: “a theory that the aim of action should be the largest possible balance of pleasure over pain, or the greatest happiness of the greatest number.” Our ethic’s book Ethics Theory and Practice tenth edition (Thiroux and Krasemann 2009 page 317), “the basic argument against the morality of homosexuality is that it is unnatural and perverse; that is, it...

Global Business Etiquette

...Going My Way Could Mean the Highway Zachary I. Knutson Business Practices in the Global Market - #2125 Prof. Creed Final Paper 04/29/2015 As shared in the Introduction section of the textbook “Kiss, Bow, or Shake Hands” by Terri Morrison and Wayne Conaway, one of the most important lessons to learn in doing business internationally is that “communication always takes place between individuals, not cultures.” (Morrison pg. ix) We live in an age today where information and knowledge that is almost instantaneous is gradually blending the lines between countries doing business and the individual cultures that those businesses cater to. Today, more foreigners are entering U.S. schools for education and that will only continue to blur the lines between understanding specific business dealings – and understanding how those business dealings will work in a foreign country. If the playing field of business is becoming more and more aligned – where do the missteps happen in regards to doing international business? And if the communication goes successfully between the individuals creating the deal – shouldn’t that be the ‘green light’ for success? My argument is No. Because once the communication is successful in establishing the opportunity to do business internationally – it will then not be in the correct handshakes or presentation of business cards that success will be found – now it’s time to communicate with the culture. Here is where international business could go...

Should Homosexuals Be Allowed to Marry

...Should Homosexuals be allowed to Marry? Kelsey Laird PHI 103: Informal Logic Prof. Gloria Zungia y Postigo July 16, 2013 Marriages are said to be a legally recognized relationship, established by civil or religious ceremonies, between two people who vow to love one another till death do them part. Usually, marriages take place between a man and a woman, in love. However, the world is changing and more people are coming out to be homosexuals, who cannot make this legal vow to love their partner till death do them part. The United States is called the land of the free for many reasons, but if it is supposed to be free then it should be free for everyone, not just selected people. This argumentative paper will discuss both sides of homosexual marriage and reasons on why it should be legal and why it should not be legal. Every person born in the United States is born with civil rights which may include: race, religion, and sex. Having the option to marry the person you love is a right given to you at birth. Homosexuals, however, are being discriminated against due to their relationships with people of the same sex. Ferguson (2007) quotes “So, one common argument for gay marriage is that government denial of the legal right to gay marriage deprives gays and lesbians of access to the social sanction and status that marriage confers, and hence to full adulthood, rights to familial or joint property and inheritance rights, and full citizenship” (p. 40). Conflict Resolution

...Conflict Resolution Paper Workplace romance is an issue in companies around the world. With full-time employees working forty or more hours each week, they tend to spend more time with their co-workers than with friends and family. This can lead to co-workers wanting to get to know each other as well as dating each other. An example of this in my experience was when I was an assistant manager at a retail store. The store manager at the time had started dating one of her subordinate associates. Rumors soon started around the store that the store manager was dating a certain associate. Other associates started to notice this particular associate would receive preferred shifts on a consistent basis. He would also be not on the schedule whenever the store manager was scheduled off. One day I was going from the sales floor to the stock room to check if we had a different size in stock for a customer. Once I walked in the stock room, I saw the two kissing. The stock room was a very large room. Once I realized what was going on, I stayed quiet and walked out within a few seconds. The two did not see me or notice anyone was even in the stock room. At this point, I contemplated having a talk with the store manager, as well as taking the issue straight to the district manager. I did not know exactly what to do because taking the issue to the district manager would be going behind my store manager’s back. I felt doing that could ruin our working relationship. Fortunately...

Meningitis and How It Affects the Body.

...At the age of two months old my brother was diagnosed with meningitis in the year of 1978. He had a fever of 104.0 and was taken to St.Christopher’s hospital but then after a few hours was released by staff, stating there was nothing more that they could do. My mother then took him to CHOP Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia where they immediately started running test on him. The results were in. the doctor’s had concluded that he had a rare case of meningitis, and would need to stay in the hospital for a while before they could find a cure or treatment. In the mean time the staff did everything they could to break the fever, and once it was broken they realized something. My brother wasn’t making any sounds or noises even when they called his name. The social worker came into the room, and spoke to my mother regarding our experience at St.Christopher’s hospital. She was told to speak to a lawyer at once to take legal action for the safety of her child. My mom was grateful to the staff and she thanked them for saving my brothers life. The Er nurses and doctors explained to us that he would have died if he hadn’t come to the Er the time that he did. This is a very serious condition and at this time very less about it was known. Several weeks later the fever finally dropped and stabilized but his hearing was lost. This was such a big transition for us to adjust to but, without knowing how we were going to communicate...

...Friday’s Psychology of Human Sexuality – PSYC 332 6380 University of Maryland University College Alicia Montague July 12, 2015 The TGI Friday’s is located not too far from my job. I have never dined at that particular location before, but heard from several people that it is a very lively on Friday’s. I figured TGIF on a Friday should be interesting. As I turned off of the main road I can see the huge TGIF sign reassuring me that I was heading in the right direction. The exterior of the building is really nice. Perfectly manicured lawn, shrubs, trees, and patches of yellow and purple flowers surrounds the brownish taupe structure. There are also several red and white stripped awnings all around the building, except the one by the main entrance, which is black with a red and white TGIF sign. I found a parking space not too far from the entrance. Above the entrance doors is a stripe that says “In Here, It’s Always Friday". I pulled open the F-shaped handles on the door and walked in. As soon as I entered TGIF I was greeted by an elderly woman who offered me a menu and asked how many people would be seated. I accepted the menu and told her that I would prefer to sit in the bar area, so she told me to pick any seat I desired. I usually prefer to sit in booths, but for the purpose of this research, I decided it would be best if I was seated at the high top table in the corner, which gave me a view of the entrance, most of the bar area, some of the main dining area, and outside...

Gay Rights

...Research Study #1: Victim experiences in hate crimes based on sexual orientation By: Herek, Gregory M., Cogan, Jeanine C., Gillis, J. Roy2 Universities Affiliated: University of California, Davis., University of Toronto Abstract: Using interview data from a convenience sample of 450 lesbian, gay, and bisexual adults, the varieties of victim experiences in hate crimes based on sexual orientation are described. Most crimes were perpetrated in public settings by one or more strangers, but victimization also occurred in other locales, and perpetrators included neighbors, coworkers, and relatives. In deciding whether a crime was based on their sexual orientation, victims tended to rely primarily on contextual cues and perpetrators’ explicit statements. Victims’ concerns about police bias and public disclosure of their sexual orientation were important factors in deciding whether to report antigay crimes, as were beliefs about the crime’s severity and the likelihood that perpetrators would be punished. Reflection: The method used in this research study is the interview method. They collected a sample size of 450 willing volunteers (224 men: 204 gay, 20 bisexual and 226 women: 202 lesbian, 24 bisexual). They all were asked to describe their experiences with hate crimes and there was a split between people who knew for sure they were attacked by biased views and those who knew their attacker did not have any biased views against them. Many volunteers felt they were most likely...
