She is no other than just a common person; she holds special significance and has the deep attachment with me. That is why she has always been an inspiring example and the person I admire most in my life. My mother leads a very simple life without any luxuries. Neither does she have any desire for material gains nor any form of enjoyment. Although my mother is neither a big celebrity nor the figure of national importance, I admire her from the depths of my heart. I admire her for her loving, hardworking and helpful. ...Heroes Paper The world needs heroes, but what really is a hero? A hero is someone who shows remarkable perseverance and courage. Perseverance means that you never give up and courage is when you are not afraid to do something. A hero should also be hard working which means they always do their best and does it diligently. Anyone who shows any of these qualities is a hero. A true hero is a person that is hard working. Jackie Robinson is perfect for this. He was the 1st African American to play major league baseball in history. His road to success was not so easy though. He was mistreated by all of the other white players in the league because they didn’t like him. Jackie Robinson was constantly getting big cuts on his legs because when he would slide into base, the other players would get him with the bottom of their cleats. Jackie Robinson was on the Brooklyn Dodgers so many of his own teammates did not like him. Many of the pitchers from other teams threw the ball at him which gave him many bruises. Despite all of this, Jackie Robinson became a star in baseball and led the Brooklyn Dodgers to a World Series appearance. This example of Jackie Robinson shows that no matter how much adversity you go through, if you keep on working hard, you can achieve great things. Heroes also show the great quality of perseverance. Harriet Tubman is someone who showed exemplary perseverance. She was a slave that worked hard, but was still abused by her plantation owner. One day she decided...

Heros

...11 Writing assignment 2- Who is your hero? Who is my hero? Well, a lot of people would say our troops. They are our hero, they fight for us every day. They fight for us to be able to say what we want, bare arms, not say a word, etc. Therefore, aren’t they our hero? Wait no, you said MY hero. Well I have a couple of heroes… but the most important, most significant hero in my life is this guy named John Carson. John Carson is my hero. He is my grandfather; but really he is my dad. The first reason he is my hero is because he saved me from a life that would probably not been so good. I met him when I was 2 years old. When I was about 5 years old my mom gave me to my grandparents; John and Rita Carson. He took me and my brother in. Which is about 14 years (this year). Me and my brother gave him about 573857837847258728 grey hairs since he got us, but he hasn’t stopped loving us, he has never left us, and he has never gave up. Papaw is my name for him. Papaw is my hero because I can walk up to him, crying or upset, and ask for a hug. And he will give me a hug. This makes him a hero to me because I don’t have a dad. He is my dad. So what this means to me, is that there is a man in my life who will be there for me when I’m upset about whatever it may be, he doesn’t care what the reason may be. He will comfort me. He will make me feel better. Sometimes that is what you need in your life, you don’t need to go to your mom, or grandmother in my case who “understands” you need to go...

Mother as a Hero

...My mother did not change the world, but she is still my hero When I was asked who my hero is, without hesitation, I knew my answer would be my mother. A hero to me is someone who you look up to, someone that you can model yourself after. Someone who sets an example for you with a good set of morals and values. While most people think a hero must be a famous person ,others think normal people could be too. Despite the fact that my mother didn't have to overcome impossible obstacles, nor does she have an astonishing success story she is still my hero. A hero to me is a person that is there for you no matter what; they will always be by your side even if times do get tough. My mom has never left my side, and I know she will always be there for me whether I am upset and crying or I am celebrating a new accomplishment in my life. I have never met someone who is so selfless as her. She has always put me first in her life and done everything she could in order to be the best mother and give me the best life. Putting up with me is not easy. I am moody, stubborn, and at times I think I know everything as If I were 100 year old . My mother and I don’t have the perfect relationship. Even though we get in arguments and disagree on a lot of things ,we always make up by the end of the day because we both know we couldn’t live without each other. When I think of a hero whose personality is brave, strong, hardworking, trustworthy, and unselfish, I find my mom has all of those qualities....

Personal Narrative: My Michigan Hero

...My Michigan Hero CJ Weiss My Michigan hero is my dad. Dad has always been a giver. From baseball games to doctors’ visits. Dad always makes time for us kids. From the biggest problem to (in our minds) the biggest. The first memory I want to share is Father’s Day, 2014. Some will say that he took me so he had company, but if he had couldn’t he have taken Mom, an Uncle or a buddy from work ? He took me for my first Tigers game at Tigers Stadium. It’s 7a.m. it’s a bit crisp from last night but, hey, I’m not complaining. I’m in my Tigers t-shirt, phone in shorts. I’m a little tired but it’s completely over whelmed by the excitement. We just pulled out of the driveway and I turn and ask “Hey dad? Do you have the tickets…” I was met with silence as he pulled back into the driveway. I hear him mutter as he gets out “Knew I forgot something!”...

...My Hero “Mom!!! Make me something to eat. PLEASEEE!!!” Yea, I know I may sound like I’m a spoiled little brat but, my mom knows how much I love and respect her. She’s the only lady I look up to. In fact she’s the only person I will ever truly admire. My mom has always given me the greatest advice that puts thing in perspective for me. For as long as I can remember there has always been that phrase that will be engraved in my head. She has always said to me those bitter sweet words, “When one door closes another one will, open and if not bust your butt and kick it open and don’t let any one tell you otherwise, Mijo” She’s always the kind of person who refuses to give up no matter the situation. As I grew older, and wiser, I’ve learned that my mom is my representation of God because nothing seems is impossible to her. She has always taught me to stand up for myself, and more importantly to stand up for what I believe is right and just. She never had an easy life growing up in Mexico. Yet, never once have I heard her complain. Being eighteen and having a child back then meant crucifixion-especially in my mom’s strictly religious family. Even in the harshest times she pulls though-even with flying colors. She has been there for me in my worst moments when, like when I broke this guys finger because he wouldn’t stop aggravating me after I told him to quit. She stood by my side and guided me thought that difficult phase and experiences I had to face. She has had my back when my...

Atticus Hero Quotes

...Atticus the Hero When you think of heroes most people think about Batman or Captain America, but there are many other people who would qualify as heroes. Heroes do not have to wear masks or uniforms, they don’t have to have secret identities or cool names. A hero can be someone you see everyday. My hero is my mom, someone who has influenced me and helped mold me into the person I am today. My mom is considerate and loving and kind. Like my mom is to me, Atticus was a hero. Atticus was smart and kind and caring. He was a single dad who worked full time, he cared about his kids more than anything and wanted to teach them to be respectful and to have good values, but he also wanted to let them learn some things by themselves which meant that they were going to make mistakes and hopefully would learn from them. Atticus was a great dad who, even when it was hard, did the right...

Grandfather

...told me that it takes more than a good deed to be a hero. It takes selflessness, courage and diligence. This wise man taught me to see the good in each and every one, despite the flaws that make up who they are. This man was a loving husband to my grandmother, a great father to my mom and her siblings, a “shoulder to lean on” to his friends, and a caring grandfather to me and my cousins. My grandfather was born on June 13, 1929 in Dagupan City, Pangasinan. He is the fifth eldest child among his eleven siblings, but he acted like he was the eldest among all of them. He then met my grandmother when he was paired up with her in a family friend’s wedding. My grandmother said that they were both very shy to introduce themselves to each other, so her brother forced them to talk. They then got married and had six children, my mom being the youngest. He was, although not a professional, into odds and ends for survival. He was mostly known as the man with great recipes and who’d have a whistle with him whenever there’s traffic. He was a caring father who ensured that the needs of the family were provided even thought he did not have a stable job, and he took responsibility in looking after me and my cousins. My mother said that he is well-loved by the family that his love and care as a father was unconditional with a motherly touch of love. He was the type of father who’d stay at home and provide for everyone’s needs. While my grandmother was working, he would be the one to take...

Everybody's Definition Of A Hero

...Everybody's definition of hero is you have to have super power x-ray vision, the ability to fly, or a magical hammer to squash villains. Like Superman, Green Lantern, and Batman are heros to everybody. However, that is not what a hero has to be. A hero is just someone that’s always there when you need them, and someone that cares for you. That is what makes a hero a hero. Everyone has different opinions on heros. A good characteristic to have as a hero is to always be there for others no matter what is going on. A hero is like a parent -- they are always there for you when you need them. For example, my mom and dad are always there for me when I need to talk to them about something, or even when i'm having a really bad day. A hero can also...

Hero

...“Hey mom what’s a hero” asked the child.” I don’t really know” replied the mom. So what do you think truly defines a hero. Well I think there are many traits a hero processes or at least should pocess. A hero isn’t always the guy with powers, who wears a cape and a pair of tights. Truthfully a hero can be anyone or anything, even an animal or a small child. I think a few traits a hero should definitely have are being helpful, kind, brave, and physically or mentally strong. They should also be a good role model. A person who is a villain of some kind is not a hero in fact they are the total opposite of a hero. Firstly the main function of a hero whether it being animal or person is to be a good role model. Not only should the hero be a role model for children but also for the people surrounding them, which includes adults. Another function of a hero would be to save people’s lives whether be literally or figuratively saving their lives. Many heroic figures like doctors, police, firefighters etc. save an abundant of lives every day. But that doesn’t mean that to be a hero you have to save lives every day. While some heroes save lives and are good role models others do not do both. Some heroes may just do good deeds and are good role models. However just because they don’t save lives doesn’t make them less of a hero. An example of this type of hero would be someone like your dad or mom. You could look at them as a heroic figure but that does not mean they save lives like a...

She’s my teacher on kindergarten. She’s strict, yes, but still very affectionate. She was the one who discovered I’m myopic. After discovering this, she told it to my mom and I was able to see the world clearly. She was also the one who always guides me through everything. She taught me how to read, write, count, and how to be strong in every circumstance I face. She taught me how to meet friends. I learned many lessons from her. She always taps my head whenever I learned something new. And in that small gesture, I know how much her affection is for me. She’s a person whom I can ask help from anytime I want. She’s a person willing to help a lost child to make her a successful one. And I’m very thankful to her. She was like my hero once and I know she’ll forever be one.
