Personal Experience: My Journey To Bronx Community College

...first time I accepted that this place will be my home for the next two years and I was going to make the best of it. With not having too many friends and out of school for a year I quickly decided to make my friends and family in my very congested new home. Like anyone would say starting college was not easy and my experience was no different. After getting accepted to BCC in mid-August by doing a late direct admission, it was the beginning of a long and tumultuous road. There was an initial hassle with financial aid and me waiting in a 3-hour line, then back to admissions. It was a long day. When I got into Bronx Community College (BCC), I had to do the placement test, just like any other student and...

Dual Enrollment English Class Analysis

...the final english class of my highschool career has for the last time, come and gone by. My education level has increased exponentially due to the rigorous course my teacher has designed for the students. Dual Enrollment English class taught me far more than just how to write a well written academic paper for my next four years in a college environment. Looking back on the second half of the semester, I can look back and appreciate all of the time spent preparing all of my essays, speeches, and notes for discussion. Throughout the semester, I definitely hit some speed bumps along the way; however, overcoming these dilemmas is what I will be able to carry with me throughout college. The class taught me how to be able to stand at the front of the classroom and speak about topics that I was less familiar with than familiar with, importance of priorities, how to write a well composed piece of literature in an academic format....

Personal Narrative: My Utopian

...My suffering came from the quick departure from utopian society to the cruel and harsh mistress of a day job. My Utopia was the living on campus experience that many college students participate. This utopia fizzled out after I flunked for two semesters in a row, and I fell into the workforce. Everyday I struggled to find anything to do in the hours I was out of work; my friends all had work as soon as I was free and I needed to wake up around when they were going to sleep. This lead me to just work as much as I could and not really ever leaving the house. In the world of Ramapo College, nothing really matters besides grades and your parents’ money. This kind of philosophy set me up to fail extremely early in the first semester that I was there. While I went to most of my classes and I did some...

Why I Came to College

...English Composition I February 10, 2014 When I was inspired to come back to college Returning to school for me at this point of time in my life is very important. I have quite a few things I want to accomplish in life, and one definite thing is receiving my degree in the Criminal Justice. The point in my life when I came to this conclusion, I was at work doing yet doing another double. I had just gotten paid and my check wasn’t enough to pay all my bills I had that were due. I couldn’t understand why I still fell short. I had picked up all the overtime I was allowed per pay period and it still wasn’t enough to cover all my bills. I knew it was time for a change in my life. I then enrolled in Schenectady Community College. I signed up to get my degree in Criminal Justice. My first semester went great I was so proud of myself. Second semester I changed degrees and switched to get my degree in Chemical Abuse Counseling. After taking my second semester I realized Chemical Abuse was not for me so I switched back to Criminal Justice. I’m now in my third semester and look forward to completing Criminal Justice and obtaining my degree when I’m done taking all the required classes needed. I’m aware with me switching degrees it set me back a little but I’m in no rush and know I have a long road ahead. Hopefully the courses in chemical abuse I took can count towards my criminal justice degree. I currently work for adults with disabilities. I have been at this job for twelve years...

I am writing this email because I have received an unexpected suspension letter from the deans office. I understand the school has its rules and I respect that very much, but I believe that the school and its staff should give me an opportunity to demonstrate the student that my grades are not reflecting at this moment. Self Assessment Research Paper

...My Self Assessment and Journey through this Semester Through my self assessment I will discuss my journey this semester in college writing and the skills I have learned and the skills that still need some improvements; from confidence to five page essays and what’s important to me and my future of learning. First of all, one of the most important accomplishments to me that I have obtained this semester, is confidence. However, I understand this may not be a skill learned from class, but it’s the skills I have learned in class that gave me the ability to feel more confident in my learning. As a high school drop out at the age of 14 years old and my couple attempts of college, I lacked confidence. Without confidence I was unable to retain anything due to constantly second guessing myself and never taking the leap into learning. Nonetheless, from the moment I started this semester I feared failure, but when I took my first quiz on comma splices and received a grade of 85 my confidence grew stronger, although, I still could use some improvement with comma splices and other punctuation....

Jiro Dreams Of Sushi: Architectural Analysis

...UC with full intent to graduate with honors from interior design. There was one main problem with this dream of mine; I hadn’t chosen my major after years of passion on the subject matter but rather on a whim. It wasn’t my first choice of major, initially I was interested in Architecture for equally flimsy reasons. I was interested in architecture because I liked building houses in the sims and an upper classmen friend of mine who I worked closely with in an extracurricular wanted to be an architect. My decision to apply for interior was an even snappier decision. I went to an hour presentation about DAAP not much of which was actually on interior design and though “hey that sounds more like my kind of thing, besides I always liked...

I struggled for a long time I didn't learn my lesson even after to going to therapy. Being cool and popular was my main. Priority. When I got a little clue it was too late my mom took me out of Santiago and I transferred to a school called river springs during my sophomore year. ...General Studies Capstone Before I started at UCO, I completed courses at both Oklahoma City Community College and OSU-OKC. My very first semester of college was at OCCC where I was straight out of high school. I finished high school online, so starting over and going to class was a learning curve for me. I was very anxious and shy starting out. I remember the first day of class, it was Intro to Psychology, and before going into class I cried in my car for twenty minutes because I was so nervous. I thought college would be an extension of high school and that I didn’t want to go through again. Once I talked myself into going to class, the first hour I did not remember. However, I quickly realized that college is nothing like high school. The professors are nice, but honestly they are not there to babysit so they didn’t enforce rules but when you did something they didn’t care for they just made you leave. I loved that part, I always felt more mature than the people of the same age because I had two sisters that were 10 years older than me, therefore I was forced to grow up and be mature at a very young age. So having ‘no tolerance’ professors was something I truly liked. Once the first class ended, I had already made a couple new friends. Some of which I still am very close with to this day. I stayed at OCCC for one semester before transferring on to OSU-OKC to pursue my Associates Degree in Echocardiography, (Cardiac Sonography). I remained in this program for 3 and a half...
