My Special Guy
I had always been skeptical of blind dates but in this case I decided to give it a try. My best friend Tamisha had set up a blind date for myself and a friend of her then boyfriend. She did my hair as preparation for my date. I did my makeup and got dressed, came out of the bedroom awaiting her approval. After she fluffed me up a bit more, he called and told me he was outside. We stood outside waiting for his car to pull up in front of our apartment.
When he arrived he stood outside the car and I walked towards him a bundle of nerves. He wasn’t very tall, about five eleven. Dark complexion, perfect teeth, low cut hair and just my type. I didn’t even introduce myself to him properly because I was so nervous. He laughed and said, Nice to meet you. I’m Jamaal.”
He walked me to the passenger side car door to let me in his 2004 Chevy Impala. I sat down took a deep breath told myself to relax as he closed the door and walked back to the driver’s side. He told me he was taking me to Red Lobster. I was fine with that. I was just hoping that the date would go as good as he looked.
We talked a lot throughout the dinner date. I felt comfortable around him, like I had known him for years. I felt that I could open up to him and let him get to know me. I told him about my childhood, my family life and bout past boyfriends. In return he told me all about his sisters and mom. How his dad passed when he was 12. As he spoke to me I noticed how chiseled his face was. How masculine and defined his frame was. He was far from a body builder but you could tell he worked out. He had the body of a basketball player. I felt like I wanted him to be a part of my life. I couldn’t figure out how I knew but I knew he belonged in my life.
After that first date we became inseparable. We spent every day together by shopping, going on

Deploying to Afghanistan

...different than the lifestyle I was used to, being attached to a special forces unit of Army Green Berets was different since I am in the Air Force, and facilitating operational missions with the special forces team showed me what it's like to be apart of the mission instead of supporting it. As I reflect back, I don’t think I’ll ever be put in any kind of situation that’ll test me more than my deployment did. I will discuss the many challenges I faced during my deployment, and also explain the deployment events and experiences in sequential order. After I’ve told my story, I’ll briefly discuss how the deployment changed me as a person. First, after a deployment to Afghanistan, I never looked at life the same because having to adapt to a deployment lifestyle was significantly different than the lifestyle I was used to. The beginning of my deployment was a culture shock when my boots first hit the ground in Afghanistan. I had no idea what to expect and the reality of the situation happened so quickly. I can remember one of the first moments when I exited the helicopter; the team chief asked who I was and what I was doing there. I told him I was the cook sent to his site and he must have been expecting a mechanic to fix the vehicles, because he was not happy with my presence. That same night, I was already put into the rotation for pulling guard (security) on the roof and in the control center for one-hour shifts. My initial reaction to everything happening was a little panic because...

Self Concept

...My Self Concept My self-concept is not a very complex one, it consist of elements that a lot of 18 year old men would say they have with a few exceptions of course. The first element I wrote down athletic as my first choice because I put a lot of time and effort into sports, they’re very important to me. I have brotherly as an element because I have a younger brother who actually turned 14 today who I love very much and we do everything together maybe more than we should. Student is also very high on my list of elements because I like to take pride in my schoolwork, even though sometimes I can get lazy. I also have friendly as an element of myself concept, I don’t have a lot of friends but the circle of friends I do have we are very close almost like brothers. I’m a happy guy; I always look to have a good time and not be negative during the day no matter what happens. I like to try and live a healthy lifestyle that doesn’t always mean I’m a gym rat or all I eat is salad more like I don’t smoke, drink or do drugs. I wrote down loving and caring because I’m a guy with a big heart. I really believe I’m an intelligent person to my core I know knowledge about things that no one could think of, does that make me a genius of course not. I have religious as element; I went to 12 years of catholic school I’m very faithful to my religion and attend church every Sunday morning. Talent is something that everyone has so of course I included that as an element talent can come from anywhere...

Disastrous Dates

...date. OK, not totally blind, because I'd met this guy on the Internet, and had sort of seen pictures. I thought it was a bit weird that when we were corresponding the guy kept on asking how tall I was, making a real big deal out of it. In one email he said he even got out a measuring tape to convert (I only knew in cm's and he only knew in feet). Well my question was answered when I arrived (a bit late) at the fancy restaurant he had booked for us - he was tiny. OK, not that I have a problem with short guys, but I'm short for a woman, and he wasn't much taller. That and the fact that the guy was old enough to be my grandfather - early 60's at least - I was in my early 20's. In emails prior to meeting up he'd said he was older, but didn't give out any specifics. I quite like older men, so it wasn't really something on the forefront of my mind, and I just assumed he'd be in the age category I had specified in my profile criteria. Well, let me just say this, there's older men and then there's just old. And this also has a lot to do with how much a guy looks after himself, his dress sense, his outlook on life etc. Well my question was answered when I arrived (a bit late) at the fancy restaurant he had booked for us - he was tiny. My Crush

...My First Crush Moya Morgan ENG 121 Lesa Hadley April 25, 2016 My First Crush Once, I saw this amazingly handsome guy at Eisenhower High School in my physical education class during my sophomore year. I did not know Miguel's name, and I was too shy to walk up to him and introduce myself. Over time, after noticing him in class and around campus, I got to witnessed more of his beauty, attributes, and how romantic he can be. It was my junior year when my best friend, Tamera, and I joined show choir. The moment I set foot in that choir room, I saw my crush, Miguel, and time slowed down. He was a beautiful person I have ever seen in my life; Miguel was the most attractive guy that I have ever seen. Tamera had already known him, so she introduced me to him. He is about 5'9, an inch taller than me and has an ivory bronze complexion. His hair is the color of ebony and wavier than an ocean on a stormy day. His exotic Salvadorian eyes are the color of milk chocolate with eyelashes so long they curl at the end. His nose is pointy, and his lips are lusciously rosy pink. He has a deep timber in his voice, and a smile that can make me feel like a million and one butterflies are racing in my tummy. His smile brightens up my day as the glorious sun does to a blooming sunflower. Miguel is a real gentleman. He is sweet, kind, caring, respectful, and trustworthy. A week before our homecoming dance, Miguel kindly asked me if he could walk with me...

Stereotypes In Family Guy

...I picked the film series of Family Guy for my final exam. Family Guy is a series of shows that has been on for a while, and it displays many of the concepts we have covered in class this semester. These concepts include stereotyping, gender inequality, culture, and technology, but the show is meant for entertainment, not to be taken to the heart. Stereotyping is a huge concept in Family Guy. The characters often make jokes and racist comments. Family Guy makes jokes about many races such as Arabs, African Americans, the Irish, and many other races. Some out-groups may find the comments offensive, but the purpose of the comments is for laughs. Sometimes Peter and the guys make comments about Cleveland (an African American male), like...

Observation Paper

...Running head: Observation of TGI Friday’s Observation of TGI Friday’s Psychology of Human Sexuality – PSYC 332 6380 University of Maryland University College Alicia Montague July 12, 2015 The TGI Friday’s is located not too far from my job. I have never dined at that particular location before, but heard from several people that it is a very lively on Friday’s. I figured TGIF on a Friday should be interesting. As I turned off of the main road I can see the huge TGIF sign reassuring me that I was heading in the right direction. The exterior of the building is really nice. Perfectly manicured lawn, shrubs, trees, and patches of yellow and purple flowers surrounds the brownish taupe structure. There are also several red and white stripped awnings all around the building, except the one by the main entrance, which is black with a red and white TGIF sign. I found a parking space not too far from the entrance. Above the entrance doors is a stripe that says “In Here, It’s Always Friday". I pulled open the F-shaped handles on the door and walked in. As soon as I entered TGIF I was greeted by an elderly woman who offered me a menu and asked how many people would be seated. I accepted the menu and told her that I would prefer to sit in the bar area, so she told me to pick any seat I desired. I usually prefer to sit in booths, but for the purpose of this research, I decided it would be best if I was seated at the high top table in the corner, which gave me a view of the entrance...

Fahrenheit 451 Theme Ignorance

...Guy Montag from Fahrenheit 451 deals with conflict in his society. In the book, the theme is ignorance against knowledge. Guy’s society gains ignorance through the media and his society’s way of controlling its people. Since Guy and the rest of the people in his society are exposed only to what is “normal”, they don’t get the chance to gain knowledge. Guy gains knowledge through Clarisse and Faber because they open up Guy’s viewpoints. However, when Guy tries to educate others it doesn’t always go smooth because of the society’s insistence that their society shouldn’t be changed. In the story, Guy himself shows his ignorance in the book by showing his possessed joy of burning books. Guy Montag tells about his joy for his job, “ It was a pleasure to burn. It was a special pleasure to see things eaten, to see things blackened and changed.’’(pg.1)(paragraph 1) Guy himself shows ignorance by doing his job, which is burning...

Family of Friends

...Dianna McWilliams Brian Walker WR115 05 1 February 2014 Friends Call Family] When I look at the whole picture of my life thus far, I often think there are so many times in my life that I could not have survived without my friends who I call family. There are those who teach me and those who walk with me through hardship and joy. I believe all humans have these people in their lives but maybe with a different name for them. There’s the forever friend’s, the ones that remain in my heart and have for many years. These are the women who I have gone several years without contact with, then comes that day we reconnect, and it’s like we never loss touch. These are the friends that when you talk to them there is the same love and respect you have always felt for them. These are friends that I have known for a lifetime and we share a special bond that cannot be understood or replaced even as our worlds are so far apart. We remain always friends There is another kind of friendship, friends in recovery. There are a few in which I can say we have true respect, trust and a common path we walk together. They are honest and loyal friends both men and women. I trust them with my deepest secrets, my fears, my joy and my struggles. These are the friends that will tell me the truth not sugar coat my ideas about life. They are the ones I have coffee with or a small dinner party, we laugh about things that life throws at us that most people cannot understand. We live by principals and walk...

Review of Avengers

...Yu 1 Yue Yu (Jasmine) Kat Gonso ENGW 1102 October 5, 2013 The audience of this review should be those people who like watching science fiction movie or fans of super heroes. My intended publication would be online blog, which is special prepared for sci-fi movies and TV shows, such as the blog Atomic Anxiety on website WordPress, and so on. Review of the Avengers: Numerous Figures but Distinct Characters Recently, a new TV series was released, called The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As a loyal fan of science fiction movies and S.H.I.E.L.D, how can I miss these episodes! However, it is really a pity that there are only few episodes right now, I have to be patient to wait for the next story. And I am sure that most fans would be like me to wait for next episodes. So, in order to make waiting time more interesting, I would like to introduce a movie, which also happened in S.H.I.E.L.D, and fans would like it. It is called Avengers. Unlike normal agents using high technology to solve various troubles in TV series The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, super heroes in the movie Avengers uses their own abilities to protect their homeland. It is true that the TV series looks more like a reality, but I think superpower makes a science fiction movie more fantasy and mysterious. So, there is no doubt that when it first showed on screen, it received a warm welcome in a large amount of fans. The poster of the Avengers Yu 2 For me, the movie attract me most is that many of audiences’ familiar heroes would...
