My Support Group Analysis

Throughout the exploration, I contributed by helping my support group find sources and examples for the Cornell Notes, making suggestions about how to film the final video, putting in all of my effort into completing and polishing my portion and helping support my fellow group members whenever they needed it.

My team’s input comprised of many great contributions but also a few choices that had a negative impact on me. In terms of the positive contributions, my group gave me countless suggestions for my work and lots of support. These suggestions ranged from cutting out repetitive sections in my speech to speaking louder and looking up more often. The support that I received included my team boosting my confidence. However, on the other hand, …show more content…
In terms of concentration, I got rid all possible distractions such as my web browser, my phone and my music. As a result, I didn’t goof off when I shouldn’t have, which resulted in a greater sense of focus. This helped me finish my own part faster so that I could start preparing for the next part of the assessment or helping my group members. In terms of perseverance, instead of ignoring useful facts or concepts, I tried to understand it as it could become a vital part in my argument. For instance, I initially couldn’t understand how the concept of a carbon sink connected to the Camosun bog; but, I kept reading my sources over again until I finally realized the connection. In terms of teamwork, there were countless times when my peers and I had to coordinate our arguments and our ideas to create a superior argument. Also, there were times when I had to seek out the aid of my team to help with certain parts of the project, such as deciding how we would weave our speeches together, where we would film, and how to set up the entire …show more content…
I vividly recall the start of grade 8 when we were asked to connect Social Studies, English and Science together for our first exploration. At the time, I barely had anything written down and my examples came from asking around. However, at the end of the final exploration project of the year, I have grown exponentially as a critical thinker who is able to connect these three subjects. For example, in the exploration, I had to think up of how developing the Camosun Bog would concern three different areas of studies. Luckily, as I have evolved as a learner, finding a connection between the Camosun Bog’s scientific benefits, its cultural background with the First Nations and the balance between the opposing powers in making this decision were all interconnected. I also developed a sense of teamwork, and how working with a team could allow me to achieve even more since there’s more than one perspective. As I learned in social studies, an answer that is pre-determined is not useful, much like how a one-sided opinion would not be as effective as various perspectives tied into a single one. This is why I know that this final project is a reasonable representation of who I am as a learner at the end of grade
