NAADAC ten ethical principles consist of the following:

1. The Counseling Relationship: The counselor needs to be completely honest with the client and always act with their patient’s best interest. To be respectful and understanding to their patient.

2. Evaluation, assessment and interpretation of client data: The counselor needs to obtain as much accurate information from the client and respecting their culture at the same time. They should be knowledgeable of the client’s culture. Also, they need to allow the client access to their own records, as long as it does not do harm to client.

3. Confidentiality/Privileged Communication and Privacy: The counselor should be very clear to the client on the client’s rights and make them
