The Future of Nursing

...With a population on the rise in rural areas and not enough physicians to care for our growing population the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is the answer. Almost 25 years ago, an analysis by the Office of Technology Assessment (OTA) indicated that NPs could safely and effectively provide more than 90 percent of pediatric primary care services and 75 percent of general primary care services, while CRNAs could provide 65 percent of anesthesia services. OTA concluded further that CNMs could be 98 percent as productive as obstetricians in providing maternity services (Office of Technology Assessment, 1986). Previous analysis has provided to be accurate in hypothesis and gives insight to increasing needs in the United States of America. Increasing demands for quality health care are requiring that nurses resume education to provide what is necessary for our growth as a nation. Education Currently the president Barack Obama has a bill to reduce the amount of monthly student loan payments which might serve as incentive for nurses desiring to return to school. In June 2010 President Barack Obama addressed the House of Delegates of the American Nurses Association to announce “a number of investments to expand the primary care workforce.” These included increased funding for NP students and for nurse- and NP-run clinics—two important steps (The Future of Nursing LEADING CHANGE, ADVANCING HEALTH, 2011), the President made this statement in efforts to improve the quality of care for patients...

...Chapter 3 Analysis of Financial Statements ANSWERS TO END-OF-CHAPTER QUESTIONS 3-1 a. A liquidity ratio is a ratio that shows the relationship of a firm’s cash and other current assets to its current liabilities. The current ratio is found by dividing current assets by current liabilities. It indicates the extent to which current liabilities are covered by those assets expected to be converted to cash in the near future. The quick, or acid test, ratio is found by taking current assets less inventories and then dividing by current liabilities. b. Asset management ratios are a set of ratios which measure how effectively a firm is managing its assets. The inventory turnover ratio is sales divided by inventories. Days sales outstanding is used to appraise accounts receivable and indicates the length of time the firm must wait after making a sale before receiving cash. It is found by dividing receivables by average sales per day. The fixed assets turnover ratio measures how effectively the firm uses its plant and equipment. It is the ratio of sales to net fixed assets. Total assets turnover ratio measures the turnover of all the firm’s assets; it is calculated by dividing sales by total assets. c. New Techniques in Design and Analysis of Exponential Algorithm

...Design and Analysis of Exponential Algorithm Arshi Aftab, Shikha Mahajan and Shruti Jajoo Abstract: In this paper we first see how NP problems can be categorized and look at some examples. We then analyze the subset sum problem and prove its NP completeness. We look at various algorithms used to solve the problem and the efficiency of each algorithm. Hence we prove that subset sum problem is NP complete. Keywords: NP complete, NP hard, complexity, subset sum, exponential I. Introduction In the study of computation complexity of problems, we find out the resources required during computation like time, memory and space required. We check if the problem can be solved in polynomial time by some algorithm. An algorithm is said to be solved in polynomial time if its worst case efficiency belongs to O (p (n)) where p (n) is the polynomial of the problems input size. Problems that can be solved in polynomial time are called tractable and those that cannot be solved in polynomial time are intractable. The formal definition of NP problem is as follows: A problem is said to be Non-deterministically Polynomial (NP) if we can find a nondeterministic Turing machine that can solve the problem in a polynomial number of nondeterministic moves. Equivalent definition of NP problem: A problem is said to be NP if 1. its solution comes from a finite set of possibilities, and 2. It takes polynomial time to verify the correctness of a possible solution. NP-complete problems NP-complete...

...Task 1: (a) Outline the roles that budgets traditionally play in organizations. Every organization needs a budget and cannot progress or meet its financial goals without budgeting. Budgeting is the most important activity in a business, it gives direction and helps reach the targets easily. Budget is a plan – quantified in monetary terms – which covers income, expenditure and capital investment and prepared prior to a defined period of time.  It is always for the future.  The time for which prepared is certain (6 months / 1 year / 3 years).  Prepared in quantitative details.  Reflects well-defined objectives and roles in organizations. The roles that budgets traditionally play in organizations are as follows: 1. To ensure the achievement of the organization’s objectives. Targets may be set for individual departments and organization as a whole to be achieved within the timescale of the budget plan. 2. To compel planning and decision-making. Planning makes management to look in future, to make decisions, to prepare detailed plans for attaining the targets, to foresee problems and give the organization direction. 3. To communicate ideas and plans. Each person affected by the plans should be aware of what he or she is supposed to be doing. Hence one-way or two-way communication is necessary in each level of organization. 4. To co-ordinate activities. A thorough analysis was done on the internal and external factors and duly taken into consideration when forecasting numbers for 2011 - 2015. For comparison, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to show the company performances during good times and bad times. Telstra Corporation Limited is taken as a benchmark due to its huge success in Australia. The trends show very positive results indicating management efficiency, asset efficiency and operations efficiency. ATH beta was calculated against the STRI values of the market and ATH.
