CHAPTER-2
NANO FLUIDS
Nano fluids are a new kind of approach for heat transfer applications. Nano fluids are containing nanoparticles having size of 1–100 nm, which are uniformly and stably suspended in a base fluid. Generally metals or metal-oxides used as Nanoparticles and they greatly enhance the thermal conductivity of the Nano fluids. Nano fluids have been considered for so many industrial applications for advanced heat transfer fluids for two decades. However, due to complexity of the Nano fluid systems, there is no agreement has been achieved in heat transfer processes. Nano fluids have the following advantages:
• Nano fluids have broad surface area and more heat transfer rate occurs between particles and base fluids.
• High dispersal

Heat rejection requirements are persistently increasing for technological devices due to scaling down of their sizes. It is now broadly allowed that the thermal management in Nano size devices acts a critical role in controlling their stability and performance. It was stated that, due to the scaling down phenomenon and raising processing speeds which causes the power density to double every 3 years, device temperatures are reaching levels that will prevent their reliable operation. At the macro scale aspect, the problem is also small for internal combustion (IC) engines. With extended surfaces such as fins and pipes stretched to their limits and new technics to improve the thermal properties of cold fluids are of great interest. Nano fluids offer a auspicious way forward to meet these cooling needs. The lighter heat exchangers could be designed, high flow velocities could be reduced leading to reduced pumping power requirements and less erosion of piping elements, and cooling and lubrication during machining operations could be improved.
Over the past decade, research institutes in the worldwide have established research groups or interdisciplinary Nano fluids centers. Small businesses and large multinational companies are working on Nano fluids. These fluids are a new field of scientific research which has grown tremendously

In the one-step technique combines the production of nanoparticles and dispersion of nanoparticles in the base fluid into a single step. There are some variations of this technique. In one of the common methods, named direct evaporation one-step method, the Nano fluid is produced by the solidification of the nanoparticles, which are initially gas phase, inside the base fluid. The dispersion characteristics of Nano fluids produced with one-step techniques are better than those produced with two-step technique. The main drawback of one-step techniques is that they are not proper for mass production, which limits their

CHAPTER 3 Global Supply Chain Quality and International Quality Standards Global competition is played out by different rules and for different stakes at each level. —C. K. PRAHALAD and GARY HAMEL INTRODUCTION I nternational trade is not a new phenomenon. The Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Chinese, Prussian, and other great empires were built on international trade. Columbus encountered the Americas for Queen Isabella of Spain when he was trying to establish a trade route to the East Indies across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe. Although international trade has existed for a long time, the volume of international trade exploded after World War II and has continued to reach tremendous levels. This international diversity can be seen all around us. Probably, the watch you wear, the computer you use, the car you drive, or the frying pan you use to prepare breakfast are not produced in the country where you live. The nationalities of products are even obscured as companies become more internationally dispersed. The most famous electric guitar in the world is the Fender Stratocaster. If you go to your local music shop, you will find that Stratocasters vary in cost from $500 to around $3,000. Some of the......

Eva Ibbotson - a Company of Swans

...lovelier view in England, Harriet knew this. To her right, the soaring towers of King's College Chapel and the immaculate lawns sloping down to the river's edge; to her left, the blue and gold of the scillas and daffodils splashed in rich abundance between the trees of the Fellows' Gardens. Yet as she leaned over the stone parapet of the bridge on which she stood, her face was pensive and her feet— and this was unusual in the daughter of a professor of classics in the year 1912— were folded in the fifth position. She was a thin girl, brown-haired and brown-eyed, whose gravity and gentleness could not always conceal her questing spirit and eagerness for life. Sensibly dressed in a blue caped coat and tarn o'shanter bought to last, a leather music case propped against the wall beside her, she was a familiar figure to the passers-by: to ancient Dr. Ferguson, tottering across the willow-fringed bridge in inner pursuit of an errant Indo-Germanic verb; to a gardener trimming the edges of the grass, who raised his cap to her. Professor Morton's clever daughter; Miss Morton's biddable niece. To grow up in Cambridge was to be fortunate indeed. To be able to look at this marvelous city each day was a blessing of which one should never tire. Harriet, crumbling bread into the water for the world's most blase ducks, had told herself this again and again. But it is not cities which make the destinies of eighteen-year-old girls, it is people— and as she gazed at the lazy, muddy river and......

Memoirs of a Geisha

...Memoirs Of A Geisha Arthur Golden Chapter one Suppose that you and I were sitting in a quiet room overlooking a gar -1 den, chatting and sipping at our cups of green tea while we talked J about something that had happened a long while ago, and I said to you, "That afternoon when I met so-and-so . . . was the very best afternoon of my life, and also the very worst afternoon." I expect you might put down your teacup and say, "Well, now, which was it? Was it the best or the worst? Because it can't possibly have been both!" Ordinarily I'd have to laugh at myself and agree with you. But the truth is that the afternoon when I met Mr. Tanaka Ichiro really was the best and the worst of my life. He seemed so fascinating to me, even the fish smell on his hands was a kind of perfume. If I had never known him, I'm sure I would not have become a geisha. I wasn't born and raised to be a Kyoto geisha. I wasn't even born in Kyoto. I'm a fisherman's daughter from a little town called Yoroido on the Sea of Japan. In all my life I've never told more than a handful of people anything at all about Yoroido, or about the house in which I grew up, or about my mother and father, or my older sister -and certainly not about how I became a geisha, or what it was like to be one. Most people would much rather carry on with their fantasies that my mother and grandmother were geisha, and that I began my training in dance when I was weaned from the breast, and so on. As a matter of fact, one day many......
