Napoleon was born August 15, 1769 in the city of Ajaccio. He started his military prowess young attending the French military school for aristocrats. He was made fun of and called little corporal. In 1785 he was a second lieutenant in the French army. He was born into a poor family and was subject to the education of the public. Napoleon was known for his military feats in during and after the French revolution. He conquered Austrian generals during his reign. He installed the Napoleonic code which is just and fair still used today by the United States of America. With his reform of government and economy along with his military strategies being his two greatest accomplishments, I believe Napoleon gathered pride and monetary funds and transformed that pride to the nation from his military accomplishments however he may have taken them too far but his accomplishments with the everyday life of the French peoples such as great governing, justice, and a great economy stuck for generations to come. One of Napoleon’s greatest accomplishments was the transformation of the French government, economy, and most important of all the Napoleonic code. While his military dreams may have put him over the edge his changes in the legal system, the administration of the government, and education boded well for the French people. In the code people were created equal not counting whether you were wealthy or not. In addition was the fact that the law was a single coherent system that the enlightened revolution failed to produce. Furthermore now the people had a right to choose which religion to practice and what type of occupation they wanted to do. He also opened up to the Catholics and reconciled with Rome. Napoleon made the government much more efficient. He added a system of administrators in each department in the central government. In addition to a more efficient the ones in power actually part of the old regime had now more power. The economy which had been in shambles before Napoleon because of heavy taxes and debt was to be changed for the better. From the battles he had won he used the money to balance the budget. He also straightened up the honesty of the tax collector and opened up the Bank of France. His policies such as the Le Chapelier of law 1791 strengthened the strikes and labor unions which allowed for more productivity. The education system was also something systematically changed for the better of France. Napoleon founded the first university with potential. He took scientists and geographers to Egypt and strengthened the field of Science for France. They were the ones to discovered Rosetta Stone which translated Egyptian Hieroglyphics which was the advance study of Egyptology. Napoleon was very well known for his military feats. He was one of the most powerful men to ever walk the face of the earth. Known as the little corporal, he was believed to be the anti-christ by some and also a monster who wanted global ineter-continental domination. Napoleon articulated the modern warfare. His theory of war was of strategy and tactics. The operation by which he conducted war was to destroy the enemy by the fastest way possible. His theory was that staying in one place would not suffice and he meant to spread out and prepared for domination of his neighbors. Napoleon conquered many lands but also had his share of downfalls. He knew what each of his armies could accomplish and the efficiency and quality of each. He would never allow any battle to get out of his hands. His plans of strategy of infantry, cavalry reserves, and a gross amount of guns set the stage for a new type of warfare. Today armies are still using Napoleon’s model of war however with the shift in technology that has changed how war goes on and much of his tactics are outdated. Napoleon was finally stopped at the battle of Waterloo in 1815 however we will never forget such a great military presence he created which was far advanced of his time. In conclusion I feel that Napoleon’s greatest accomplishments were his reform of France in the form of law and efficient government. His military achievements while great were overshadowed by great feats but also several and almost as many downfalls, his greatest blunder being the invasion of Russia where he lost over 300 thousand troops most dying of cold and hunger. Napoleon stretched his army and his dream of world dominance brought him to his knees. His strategies of war are what lived on. What France truly needed and what Napoleon accomplished behind all his military sharades was the reform of France in the way of the economy, government, and education which I feel boded well for France going forward and by far his greatest accomplishments.

...Napoleon Bonaparte was born on 15 August 1769 in Corsica into a gentry family. Educated at military school, he was rapidly promoted and in 1796, was made commander of the French army in Italy, where he forced Austria and its allies to make peace. In 1798, Napoleon conquered Ottoman-ruled Egypt in an attempt to strike at British trade routes with India. He was stranded when his fleet was destroyed by the British at the Battle of the Nile. France now faced a new coalition - Austria and Russia had allied with Britain. Napoleon returned to Paris where the government was in crisis. In a coup d'etat in November 1799, Napoleon became first consul. In 1802, he was made consul for life and two years later, emperor. He oversaw the centralisation of government, the creation of the Bank of France, the reinstatement of Roman Catholicism as the state religion and law reform with the Code Napoleon. In 1800, he defeated the Austrians at Marengo. He then negotiated a general European peace which established French power on the continent. In 1803, Britain resumed war with France, later joined by Russia and Austria. Britain inflicted a naval defeat on the French at Trafalgar (1805) so Napoleon abandoned plans to invade England and turned on the Austro-Russian forces, defeating them at Austerlitz later the same year. He gained much new territory, including annexation of Prussian lands which ostensibly gave him control of Europe. The Holy Roman Empire was dissolved, Holland and Westphalia created...

...Napoleon Bonaparte was good for France. There have been many successful military leaders throughout history, but no leader has ever taken over the whole world. This was nearly accomplished by the greatest military leader in history better known as Napoleon Bonaparte. Although his conquest for power and territory were great for France, it was not as good for the rest of Europe. As a self-appointed uncrowned king, Napoleon was known to many as an extraordinary military leader and a great reformer. His domestic policy continued many reforms of the revolution. Through his wars he expanded the political boundaries of Europe. Napoleon’s positive contributions: In 1802 Napoleon, by popular vote became First Consul. Then in 1804 he declared himself Emperor of the French. Napoleon obtained absolute power. His domestic policy continued many reforms that the revolution had started. Napoleon came up with a law code that brought together many reforms of the revolution, and combined them into a single legal system. It was called the Napoleonic Code and was his greatest accomplishment in government. It recognized that all men were created equal and granted religious toleration, as well as a person’s right to work in any occupation that they are qualified for. Napoleon believed that the man should be in control of the family and household. But Napoleon did make many good reforms, for example, he imposed a law that made it mandatory for all citizens to pay taxes. This greatly improved the French...

Orwell

...Why This Person is Superior George Orwell as a Novelist George Orweel is one of the leading novelists of modern age. His novels express a powerful sattire on the political and social hypocrisies. By thw quality of his writing, he has achieved international fame and recognition. In his evolution as a novelist he moved from simple narration to symbolic expression. But he has been criticised by many critics due to the lack of sincere characteristics of a novel in his novels. It has bveen proved that he has failed as a novelist. Tom Hopkinson opines, “Orwell’s reputaion as awriter rests largely on his novels, but his gifts are not those of a novelist; and, if the novel had not happened to be the prevailing literary form during the twenty years when he was writing, he would proably never have been attracted to it. Orwell had little imagination, little understanding of human relationshipl, little sympathy with individual human beings- though much with humanity in general.” O.D. Leavis also found that he had “wasted a lot of energy trying to be a novelist. I think I must have read three or four novels by him and the only impression those dreary books left on me was that nature didn’t intend him to be a novelist.” Edward M. Thomas also found that he did not possess the temperment of a novelist. Thus Orwell, who wished to produce more than thirty novels, had to admitin aletter, written to his friend, Julian Symons, “You are perfectly right about my own character constantly intruding...

Animal Farm

...propaganda was used by early Russian leaders such as Stalin, and the effect this type of leadership had on the behaviour of the people of Russia. One thing which relates to the topic is how the pigs are favoured on Animal Farm. The main source for this was because their leader Napolean was a pig, the pigs were subject to favouritism by Napolean, and were given privileges that other animals were not given, such as sleeping in beds, wearing clothes and drinking beer. The pigs were also the only animals involved in making the vital decisions on Animal Farm. The fact emulates in a way how our Government tends to operate. The Government Party members are paid an exuberant amount of money, with this money the members of the Government can purchase costly cars and houses, if they wish to do so. They make all the important decisions about the country where as the tax payers rarely have a say in it. Another thing that “Animal Farm” and todays society have in common is that the powerless people are subject to propaganda . In “ Animal Farm” Squealer and Napolean used propaganda by telling the animals that Snowball was a traitor, and convincing them that he was a criminal. They threatened that if Napolean was not in leadership Jones may come back. This happens in our society during the election period , the opposing parties all warn the public of the...

Animal Farm Allegory

...communism is that people have the right to make their own decisions whether it's good or bad that's their right it's in our rights or commandments.Squealer had a way of also scaring the animals into doing what he wanted like, for instance, he would say that you don't want Mr.jones to come back and take over do you? Putting fear into the animals so that they would do by any means follow the directions of Napolean and snowball. The worse part that I had been the part about boxer because he been so dedicated to justice and he thought that squealer was going to help bring about an animal paradise or peace to the animals but in reality he was no different from Mr.Jones in the story they even said they looked from pig to man and man to pig and could not tell the difference. They are all greedy and only care about themselves and what they can get out of it by manipulating people into doing disgusted things hey always get their way and just like in the war Stalin used images and abused language to keep the public calm squealer is power hungry so the he twists the truth for the interest of Napolean. The use of allegory is a rhetorical device is different because it's kind of like a metaphor they use things in comparison of each other so that we can understand better. This is different from laying out a fictional account Because although a historical or statistical gives facts it's just plain facts But it's more clearer when they explain it by using things in comparison like they use animals to...

Similarities Between V For Vendetta And Animal Farm

...Competition is an element found all throughout everyday life. First in line, first in the class, and in the texts V for Vendetta directed by Jame McTeigue and Animal Farm written by Geoge Orwell this is no different. In V for Vendetta, several parties are competing for power in the British government and will stop at nothing to grasp tightly around victory. This victory is so important to these people that they would do anything. In V for Vendetta, it was the conservative party that took "anything" to a new extreme. After developing a chemical weapon rather than using this weapon against enemies of the state they impose it's deadly nature upon their own country. Why? Luddite Revolt

...The Luddite Revolt Around the beginning of the 1800’s, Europe experienced an economic event field by a war between England and France. As with all wars, an opponent will often attack or disconnect supply chains and or block off routes to impact the transport of goods. Napolean; the leader of France established a blockade known as the Continental System. This blockade impacted the import and export of goods with England. The disruption of international trade created massive price hikes and financial hardships. Ultimately companies failed and wages dropped. The demand for good increased though the supply was unavailable. Textiles and agricultural industries especially felt the largest impact of a lack of trade. Companies involved in the industries mentioned began to fail due to a lack of imported material that was not available in England. If an individual became unemployed, there were no government assistance programs or food rations to aid their hardship. Often the unemployed would starve due to a hike in food prices from a lack of quantity. Motivational Quotes

...Motivational Quotes "If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way." -Napolean Hill Why I like it: Simple words, deep meaning. Sometimes I may feel some goals are too far to reach, then this quote inspires me. Not always can we do great things, but we can do small things that other people will appreciate. Never is a challenging goal easy to accomplish, but we can start from what we can and make the first step. “Small” never means nothing, because thousands of drops of water can make a sea. How it relates to The Truth of Motivation: This quote reminds me that if one goal seems too hard to reach, just do what we can firstly and carry on. Small things can still make difference. In fact, this quote is the inspiration for me to set up my goal-reaching & motivation system. When I can face a challenging task that seems hard to finish, I will divide it into several small goals, and do it step by step. After I reached one goal, I would just give myself a little reward. Thanks to this quote, I developed a method to motivate myself when facing challenging goal. "The tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach." -Benjamin Mays Why I like it: The quote encourages me, even when I’ve failed for several times, I will never be too frustrated, because I know failure is not always a bad thing. The quote warns me, sometimes I may feel confused and don’t know what to do, then I tell myself I can challenge...

Why Is Adolf Hitler Able To Defeat France

...Adolf Hitler was able to defeat France easily in 1940 because the French because the French Vichy government cooperated closely with the Germans, in regards to their belief that Germany would ultimately win and that the French wanted to be on the winning side. However, many French citizens were not Nazi Germany sympathizers and thought this cooperation was another example of government corruption. The air war against Britain was an utter failure because of three of factors. The first factor was that Great Britain surpassed Germany in war production. British factories kicked into overdrive mode to combat the rise of the German war machine. The second factor is that Germany deployed most of it airforce, the Luftwaffe, to fight in...

The supreme court does not take every case it gets – to chooses its cases. They look for cases that will change the way for the way this country will work. Marbury v. Madison = a case of judicial review. What that means is that the Supreme Court will take a case on appeal and they will make a two part decision.
