International. She was our second guest speaker of the semester and just as compelling as Eddie Rivera. She mainly spoke to us about priority management and creating the person you want to be. It was great to hear what has worked for her life in terms of character traits.

The speech was started off by Mary Ann talking about her early life. In 1989 she worked for a radio station in Salt Lake City, Utah where her family lived. Mary Ann visited Las Vegas and ended up moving here for her 21st birthday. She realized that this is the place she needed to be because she fit right in. Eventually Monte Carlo Resort & Casino became her employer. She spent three years with the company before moving to MGM Resorts International. There, she spent seven months in sales, where she had to book businesses by essentially socializing with potential customers. Never spread gossip or rumors because nothing good will come out of it. Always be positive, pleasant, and proactive throughout your daily routine. When it comes to social media, you should exercise caution as it is a public forum. Every morning you get to choose your attitude, so choose the right one.

College has been a totally different experience so far compared to high school. I have a lot more responsibilities and deadlines to keep track of. In terms of organization I needed a big overhaul. Since Mary Ann’s speech, I set up a large calendar at home on my wall. I always kept things in my iPhone, but it seems more beneficial to physically write things out. With one glance, I can see what I have to do and what I have coming up. I still could improve my organization and timeliness, but now I feel like I have a better overview of my day-to-day
