Do you kids smoke it was a hot day, mid summer and i was skating. i decided to head over to bird school. i skated there for awhile i had fun and was practicing my half cabs (180’s on a skateboard). Adam decided to call me asking me if i was doing anything and i said i was just bored and skating . We talked and decided to meet up at beans n cream. my dad drove me there and i ended up getting there early. Adam had to longboard from his house and ended up getting there a lot later. To pass time i just sat down and played on my phone listened to music and talked to random customers. Like most coffee shops beans n cream smelled like well.. coffee and i personally enjoy that smell it kind of soothes me. After sitting for a while i grabbed one of …show more content…
Me and Adam laughed and still talk about how weird it was to this day ( it's kind of an inside joke for us now ). after sitting and laughing and talking for a bit we decided to skate up to CHUMS ( Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School ) so that i could skate some flat ground and try some stuff on the plant hubba ( the square plant boxes in front of the school ) we hung out talked, skated and killed time. after that we skated down the hill in front of the school and trekked on our way to taco bell. Adam previously got 45 dollars in taco bell gift cards for his birthday so I was excited. on our way we met this girl named azalea. She was wearing a tie dye shirt and liked my skateboard She invited us over but we really wanted taco bell so we turned her down. She gave me her number so we could keep in touch. She seemed really nice and we still text to this day. after that we stopped at saint vincent De Paul just to mess around. The store was closing soon and the workers were yelling at us so we left. After 10 - 15 minutes we arrived at Taco Bell. I bought two, five layer burritos and some nachos. he bought some tacos and a baja blast. we hung out for a little and talked about random stuff then went outside. Once we were out there i skated a little and Adam finished eating. Then adam bet a random lady in the fast food line that adam could balance his longboard on his hand for one minute. He lost and

Philippine Folklore

...PHILIPPINE FOLKLORE: ENGKANTO BELIEFS HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: Philippine mythology is derived from Philippine folk literature, which is the traditional oral literature of the Filipino people. This refers to a wide range of material due to the ethnic mix of the Philippines. Each unique ethnic group has its own stories and myths to tell. While the oral and thus changeable aspect of folk literature is an important defining characteristic, much of this oral tradition had been written into a print format. University of the Philippines professor, Damiana Eugenio, classified Philippines Folk Literature into three major groups: folk narratives, folk speech, and folk songs. Folk narratives can either be in prose: the myth, the alamat (legend), and the kuwentong bayan (folktale), or in verse, as in the case of the folk epic. Folk speech includes the bugtong (riddle) and the salawikain (proverbs). Folk songs that can be sub-classified into those that tell a story (folk ballads) are a relative rarity in Philippine folk literature.[1] Before the coming of Christianity, the people of these lands had some kind of religion. For no people however primitive is ever devoid of religion. This religion might have been animism. Like any other religion, this one was a complex of religious phenomena. It consisted of myths, legends, rituals and sacrifices, beliefs in the high gods as well as low; noble concepts and practices as well as degenerate ones; worship and...

...this situation sounds familiar, you may find it reassuring to know that many professionals undergo these same strange compulsions before they begin writing. Jean Kerr, author of Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader, and 2. More than anything, you want to communicate those ideas to your reader. These reminders may seem obvious to you, but without a solid commitment to your own opinions as well as to your reader, your prose will be lifeless and boring. If you don’t care about your subject, you can’t very well expect anyone else to. Have confidence that your ideas are...

Aesthetics of Representing Cultural Paradigms in Rushdie

...In the contemporary century where the world is metamorphosed to a global village, the concept of national culture and national literature is certainly belied. The World literature, today, simultaneously represents an important multicultural perspective within individual national literatures as well as more global perspective taking in the phenomena of transculturalism and diaspora confluence. Centripetal and centrifugal forces can be discerned as both antagonistic and complementary forces in cultural development. Raymond Williams develops a theory of relation between culture at large and cultural products like literature. Culture is manifested in human artifacts and activities such as music, literature, life-style, food, painting, sculpture, theatre and film. It can be said that arts and the world of science with their moral systems come to form culture. These are constantly in a spatio-temporal flux that renders an inexhaustible range of meanings and a catalogue of the elements. In this process of evolution a particular aspect dominates or fades off at some space-time coordinate. The pattern of human activity and the symbolic structures give such activities significance and importance. Rushdie, like other postcolonial writers not only reflects upon the political aspects of history but also deconstructs the interrelationships between history and individual to delve into the moral and psychological tensions of the native homeland. His novels are the fine example where ethics of...

PREFACE Rationale We agreed to produce the instructor’s manual for the sixth edition of A First Look at Communication Theory because it’s a first-rate book and because we enjoy talking and writing about pedagogy. Yet when we recall the discussions we’ve had with colleagues about instructor’s manuals over the years, two unnerving comments stick with us: “I don’t find them much help”; and (even worse) “I never look at them.” And, if the truth be told, we were often the people making such points! With these statements in mind, we have done some serious soul-searching about the texts that so many teachers—ourselves...
