In the short film "Still Life" the writer and director show us the combination of different aspects that could become a person dangerous without realizing that he or she is a threat to anybody around. In this case, Nathan Evans, is an irresponsible driver and a threat to a town while he is overdosed on caffeine and poisoned by pills. Literally, he had lost the control of his mindset, although he is still have control of his actions. The way that Nathan takes his mission to reach his destination by risking his own life makes more innocent people to get hurt from this sociopath guy. At the same time, Nathan will face the consequences of being disconnected from the real world.
At the beginning of the movie, the director introduces the main character …show more content…
Obviously, He is not on the way to work or go to the gym because people would not go to any of these places while he is tired. Also, people don't take medication in the early hours of the morning. Many cups spread under the seat is the evidence that he is being driving for many hours. He is so forgetful that he has run out of gas for driving for too long. Instead of thinking of buy coffee to keep him awake, he should have refill his tank. In the same way, Nathan is losing control of his body from the effect of the medication and the overdose of caffeine. In this condition, he is easier to be more inactive but destructive because he would become a killer machine. Like in the scene, Nathan sees a person sitting on the bench, he keeps his glance at the person until he hits something. For a normal person, she or he would not get distracted from what appears to be a person. It's common sense; any driver has seen people on benches and there is reason to get distracted for that. As he comes out the car to see that he had hit a mannequin, which is strange to think to happen because he starts seen people moving like real people. It conveys that he is under the influence of too much caffeine and overdose. As he runs away confuse to look for safety; which is ironic because he could have been taking a break in a safe place rather than being in an accident. When Nathan breaks into someone's house to protect himself, it's pretty obvious that he wants to be safe from the nightmare he made it, However, who he think he has any right into break somebody else house. On this occasion, it was not an carelessness, Nathan becomes a killer by murdering the family who was in the house. This is an example what other people experience from drugs use had done to innocent

Maximo Oliveros

...t’s not easy to miss the conceit in “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros.” Because of the penchant of Filipino cinema for tearjerkers and comedies tackling the travails, joys and puppy loves of adolescents and teenagers, it seems only a matter of time for our film artists to do more of the same but with a certain refocusing: if straight children could fall in love with adults, why not gay kids? In Maxi, writer Michiko Yamamoto, director Aureus Solito, and producer Raymond Lee have found a character so appealing, so irresistible that they could never go wrong with the movie. And as played by young actor Nathan Lopez, the character is incredibly charismatic. It helps that despite his prettiness, Lopez plays the 12-year-old princess without affectation but with a freshness that could only come from the fact that he’s straight. It could not have been otherwise since Maxi lives in a straight, sordid world. His father (played brilliantly by Soliman Cruz) is a petty thief; he has passed on the trade to Maxi’s “brusko” brothers, Bogs (Neil Ryan Sese) and Boy (Ping Medina). Maxi doesn’t quite become Boney to this family of Clydes since he has stopped schooling in order to keep house and fill it with the scents of his merry cooking and the grace and charm of his presence. He becomes their Ma Barker minus the advanced years, the menacing scowl, and the trigger-happy machine gun. When Maxi is rescued from neighborhood thugs by a kind rookie cop, Victor, (J.R. Valentin), he switches...

From the discovery of vaccination to the discovery of antibiotics, each medical breakthrough highlighted the success of humans in dealing with the prevailing medical issues of that time. With the discovery of the structure of DNA by Crick and Watson in the early 1950s, the focus on medical research has shifted to the understanding of the genetic cause of a particular disease. Because of this, we are now able to understand the pathophysiology behind much of the diseases that has been a mystery to us before. An example of this is cancer, which was initially untreatable, but now thanks to our ever improving understanding of the genetic and biochemical mechanisms of the disease we are almost a step closer to achieving a reliable cure. In order to understand the progression of a particular disease accurately, scientists need to recreate the symptoms in a controlled environment (e.g. a laboratory) within a living organism. Such organisms are known as model organisms, because they serve as a live model which allows us to explore the workings of the disease. Due to various ethical issues, using humans as model organisms are out of the question, so scientists...

However, there is a major stake of her losing the promotion that she is expectant and has been promised. Furthermore, Mr. Phil Devon’s eagerness to help her in a sincere way is killing her more in the process of getting the information that she needs from him. Very primarily, our task, in imagining ourselves as Martha McCaskey lies in making sure to get the insider information from the target competitor of our company’s client. The insider information that we are now seeking is about the manufacturing of a chip for our client, so as to help our client. The constraints and challenges that lie before us in obtaining that information are as follows: 1. The potential information provider, Mr. Phil Devon is sincere in his attempt to share the information, provided that we come forth with specific information, provided by our clients. 2. Our integrity in asking for insider information, the consequence of which might invoke bad temper in Mr. Phil Devon and which might also lead Mr. Devon complaining to the concerned authorities about the whole set-up. 3. Bruce Almighty, a Lesson in Integrity

...Bruce Almighty, A Lesson in Integrity Tenetta Griffin English 225 Melissa Rigney January 14, 2014 Bruce Almighty, A Lesson in Integrity Jim Carrey is a talented comedian and I have enjoyed every film that I’ve seen him in. I selected Bruce Almighty for an in-depth film analysis because of how the talented actors helped put a unique spin on the whole god/human relationship for the modern day moviegoer. This movie is not designed to be an in-depth expose on the god/human relationship but a platform to gently remind the audience the of how important our decisions affect where we are in life and gives us a moment to pause and think about what kind of future do we really desire. In my opinion, the film Bruce Almighty utilizes Jim Carrey's comedic talents to address the heavy topic of the god/human relationship and the moral issue that the director wants the share with the audience is that our free will should be exercised a modicum of human integrity to effectively resolve our own personal issues/dilemmas. My first step in analyzing Bruce Almighty involves taking a closer look at plot development and how this movie took the universal truth concerning how mankind in general tends to get frustrated with God when things just don’t go their way while taking it down a unconventional comedic path to help lighten up the seriousness of the topic. The director of Bruce Almighty’s tells the story from a mixed point of view which means we sometimes learn what is going on at the same...

Tesla

...Strategic Perspective and Ethics Key Issue The key issue involving Tesla Motors is the organizations approach to marketing their product and social mission. The fundamental idea behind the company’s existence is to create vehicles that require sustainable energy as oppose to fossil fuel dependency. The demand for their products is built on the zoom out, bigger picture idea that consumers will eventually switch from the current fossil fuel powered cars to alternative energy powered cars in the future (Kanter, 114). The founder and current Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, created this organization based on his long term vision that the future of automobiles requires a less oil dependent vehicle. Tesla Motors has consistently reported losses since implementation but the growth and popularity of the organization is based on the future potential and not present success. Shareholders and those involved will eventually want to see real results for them to continue to support Musks bigger picture (Kanter, 114). By non-GAAP standards the company has reported an expectation to create positive earnings and cash flow by early 2016 but previously the company has failed to meet short term expectations (https://hbr.org/2015/05/teslas-not-as-disruptive-as-you-might-think). The lack of profit stems from a combination of dismal efforts to reach more consumers and generate awareness, the costs associated to purchase a vehicle and Teslas approach to marketing and generating sales. Tesla Motors...

Twelth Night

...Twelfth Night The section of the play that I have chosen is the scene in which Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are both drunk and are throwing the balls into the stage with the fool. I chose this section because it stood out very distinctively because of all the actions that were happening in it. In the scene Sir Toby and Sir Andrew were playing around with the fool and making a lot of noise whilst the others who were living in the house were asleep. Malvolio the butler kept on coming onto the stage every so often to tell Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and the fool to be quiet. It started by the fool running to the back of the stage and grabbing the foam balls and hats and then making Sir Toby and Sir Andrew put the hats on. The musicians then started playing very upbeat and loud music whilst Toby, Andrew and the fool threw the foam balls into the crowd for them to throw back at them. This then went on for several minutes. Whilst in the middle of all this, pizzas were passed through the crowd by the fool. Every so often Malvolio would come onto the stage and when he did all the music would stop and it would go silent. He did this because everyone else in the house was trying to sleep and they couldn’t because of Toby, Andrew and the fool. Once Malvolio had left the stage all the music would start again and Toby, Andrew and the fool would start throwing the balls back into the crowd. Some members of the audience were pulled out to put the hats on and stand in the middle of the stage to catch...

Efficiency & Management

...Gray Case: Moss and McAdams Accounting Firm 1. If you were Palmer at the end of the case, how would you respond? If I were in Palmer’s position, I would accept Sands and Olds choice and move on as the bottom line is to work towards accomplishing the organization’s goals. Considering the toll the situation had on Olds, it would be only fair to grant his wish and ensure that things get back right on track. In addition, I would also persuade Sands to find someone who has a skill set close to Olds, so that the slipping schedule can be brought back on track and ensure that the project is completed successfully. I would also convey my message that I did not appreciate a key resource being pulled mid way to work on another project to the senior management so that this situation can be avoided if possible in future. 2. What, if anything, could Palmer have done to avoid losing Olds? Palmer should have engaged in a conversation with the Project Sponsor to explain the importance of having Olds on the Johnsonville Project, which may have encouraged Crosby to look for another suitable employee. Considering the basic nature of the Johnsonville project and the high profile status of Crosby’s project, it makes more sense for Olds to move to Crosby’s project keeping the company’s goals in mind. In addition, Crosby seemed to be relationship oriented, indeed he gave his team some rewards such as lunch at a good restaurant, game of golf, tickets to the baseball games. In contrast, Palmer...

Sir Arthur Evans Research Paper

...Sir Arthur Evans was a famous and somewhat controversial British archaeologist. Studying history at the Universities of Oxford and Göttingen, Evans later became Keeper of the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford. He was known for extracting or uncovering artifacts from ancient societies. After unearthing some of the sites, Sir Arthur Evans of Nash Mills would go on to restore his findings in an attempt to bring them back to life per say. Throughout his days, Sir Arthur made some very crucial discoveries as it pertains to ancient archaeology such as his excavation of the Palace at Knossos. Sir Arthur Evans was born in 1851 in Nash Mills, Hertfordshire, England. His initial interest in archaeology stemmed from the period of 1884 to 1908 where he became interested in seals which were essentially tiny carved stones. These seals were sources of inscriptions from ancient, pre-Classical Mediterranean civilizations. He as the article reads was particularly drawn to Crete as one such source of seals containing undeciphered early inscriptions. Sir Arthur first visited Crete in 1894 to study and decipher two types of unknown scripts appearing on Cretan seals. This would be the...

Those Few Moments

...Those Few Minutes Maybe she was born this way. Maybe she has to be crazy to love the sport, to love gymnastics. It destroys her body. It takes up nearly all of her life all for a few seconds on the mats. Sometimes she has to ask herself, “Is it worth it?” She always answers yes. Those few minutes mean the world to her. Whether she walks off or has to be carried off, the pain endured on those mats will always be worth those few minutes. If she loses or if she wins, whether her routine falls apart or marks perfection, those mats are worth it. That is why she gives everything while competing. The rush of air as she flies through the air, the sound of the excited crowd arises the second she sticks her landing. She smiles widely even when she aches from pain, because of these few moments. She will give her last few minutes on the floor with the realization that these minutes meant everything to her and that provides the motivation to give everything she has. When she is competing she can feel it. The blood rushing to her face, she feels the nerves that are seemingly impossible to control. Her legs and hands shake, for fear of making a devastating mistake. Her success all depends on the performance she can give in such a minuscule amount of time. On December 3rd, 2010, she went to Regionals. Her goal was to score perfectly on beam. She counted to three, inhaled, and mounted the beam. Drops of sweat beaded up on her forehead. Yellow by Nathan Sawaya

...This is one of Nathan Sawaya’s signature piece titled “Yellow”. At a glance, the first words that we think of are ‘yellow’, ‘Lego’ and ‘torn’. However, if we look at this sculpture patiently, then more complicated and abstract words like ‘repent’, ‘suffering’, and “absolvent” come to mind. The reason I found this exhibit so intriguing is because of the world of opposite going on within it. Play bricks or Lego, which are such simple and innocent play toys for children have been used to construct a sculpture which has a very eerie and dark vibe emitting from it. The color ‘yellow’ too, adds to this one of a kind ‘unity in conflict’. One would associate yellow with happiness, laughter and maybe even hope. However, the kinds of emotion and sentiment this sculpture screams out are those of a darker shade like black and maroon. I believe this unison of light and dark elements of the sculpture is what gives it its balanced and at the same time, intriguing appeal. My imagination makes me believe that light plays a very important role in the whole exhibit. Without the lighting, the ‘story’ would be incomplete. The sculpture looks up as if it were reaching out to a higher, more divine entity. There are several interpretations that resonate in the sculpture - A devotee performing a cleansing ritual for the God he believes in, a sinner in the middle of a confession, a commoner trying to relieve himself of stress or maybe even a lover ‘pouring his heart out’ to his long lost love! Imagination...
