National Honor Society 4 Pillars Analysis

...Out of the four pillars that all of the National Honor Society members must exemplify, I believe I best exemplify the service pillar. The reason I believe that the service pillar is the area where I truly excel is because I am always trying to give back to the community. For example, I have volunteered and helped out at The Heavenly Father Catholic Church, Big Reds Ranch, math and science camp for the new generation of scholars, and at the Spanish Meadows of Brownsville. Every place where I have given my service to all works for the same purpose: giving back to everyone in the community. I have enjoyed working and would give all the time in the world if I could if it meant I would be making someone’s day even a little bit better. The place...

External and Internal Environments

...Introduction: In researching an industry for this assignment I chose the sporting goods industry that is a major industry with over $3 billion in sales per year. Within that industry I chose a company that I am familiar with “The Adidas Group.” The Adidas group is a publically traded company in Europe and with globalization it has increased its shares in the market. Adidas being traded on the European market is what we call an overnight stock. These stocks are traded at night here in the United States and open after the New York Stock Exchange closes at 4:00 PM eastern time. I will choose two segments of the general environment business factors that I feel influence this company and the industry to assess how they affect both Adidas Group and the Sporting Goods Industry. In addition I will use the five (5) forces of competition and evaluate which two of the processes are the most significant to the corporation by evaluating how Adidas has addressed them in the recent past. I will further use the two forces to predict what the Adidas Group might do to improve their corporation by addressing these forces in future endeavors. By choosing this corporation I will identify the external threats that affect them in the industry as well as the opportunities available. By doing this I will attempt to give my opinion on the corporation’s greatest threat and opportunity to identify some of their strengths and weaknesses for future growth potential. Identifying the firm’s resources, capabilities...

It is a monotheistic faith based on revelations received by the Prophet Muhammad in 7th-century Saudi Arabia. The Arabic word Islam means “submission” reflecting the faith's central tenet of submitting to the will of God. Followers of Islam are called Muslims. The sacred text of Islam, the Qur'an, was written in Arabic within 30 years of Muhammad's death. Muslims believe it contains the literal word of God. Also important is the tradition of the sayings and actions of Muhammad and his companions, collected in the Hadith. Islamic practices center on the Five Pillars of Islam—faith; prayer; fasting; pilgrimage to Mecca; and alms Science: Science is the system of acquiring knowledge through use of the scientific method — that is, generating hypotheses and theories through observation and testing. ...IFRS: FASB and IASB Fair value measurements provide users of financial statements with an accurate picture of the value of a company’s assets. Both IFRS and GAAP require firms to include information regarding fair value measurement practices in the notes of financial statements. Under either system, companies will be required to report assets at either book value or fair value, depending on the situation. As a general rule of thumb, all assets in the same class must receive the same valuation treatment. In regards to the value of receivables, IRFS uses a two- tiered method that first analyzes individual receivables, and then looks at receivables as whole to determine if there is any impairment. Basic accounting and reporting issues related to recognition and measurement of receivables, allowance accounts, recording discounts, the allowance method to account for bad debt and factoring are pretty much all the same between GAAP and IFRS. However, IASB (International Accounting Standards Board) and FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) are taking steps by working to implement fair value measurement, the amount they currently could be sold for, for financial instruments. The FASB and IASB are facing opposition from various factors thus have adopted a piecemeal approach. Step one is to disclose the fair value information in the notes, and second step is the fair market option which permits companies to record some type of financial instrument at fair value in financial statements...

Significance of Pak-Russia Relations

...National Defence University, Islamabad Faculty of Contemporary Studies International Relations Department Research Paper SIGNIFICANCE OF PAK-RUSSIA RELATIONS: FOREIGN POLICY OPTIONS FOR PAKISTAN By: Arshad Mahmood, M.Phil (IR), NDU, Islamabad 20 November 2012 Submitted to: Dr Shaheen Akhtar Associate Professor Department of International Relations NDU, Islamabad SIGNIFICANCE OF PAK-RUSSIA RELATIONS: FOREIGN POLICY OPTIONS FOR PAKISTAN ABSTRACT Pak-Russia relations, viewing from a realist perspective, have not been built upon strong pillars of understanding each other’s interests and concerns which are most essential for establishing enduring bilateral ties. The history of their bilateral relations is simply a tale of misperception and misunderstandings. Both the nations despite having convergence of interests on various bilateral, regional and international issues and immense potentials in cooperation have never availed opportunities. In fact both, Pakistan and Russia had viewed each other through the prism of other states and with wrong perceptions. The changing international environment and internal and regional political dynamics of both the states have now provided another chance their elites to revisit their bilateral relations and lay down a foundation for a prosperous future. Narrative

...Chapter 1 Introduction Education is “an act of taking someone out of ignorance by means of teaching”, as defined by the World Book Encyclopedia. It is considered as social institution. It includes not only the effects of schooling, but also the more pervasive effects of child rearing practices gained from family training, social exposure and other means of media that a learner experienced and accumulated as part of his maturity. It is one of the purposes of education to prepare the youth for their future places in the society and prepare them to combat the real world. Schooling is only part of education. It is the place where a person gains proper training that his family cannot provide. Thus, in a school setting, education will not be considered a full one if there is no teacher. To teach is to make an assumption about what and how the students learn. Here in the Philippines, teachers are important factor in molding the society because of their tasks in guiding the learners out in the world of ignorance.
