Induction into the National Honor Society is an immense honor and pride to me. Now I have the chance of a lifetime to prove not only to myself, but also to my family that I can get further in life not only as a student of Broken Arrow High School but also as a leader in my community. Through hard-work, dedication, and a positive outlook, I have been able to achieve my goals. My years at the high school have been and still are a journey, which has helped me build my character, my leadership, and my involvement in extracurricular activities.
I am the oldest of three. I have a young sister and brother who I adore, and they look up to me as their role model in school. I strive to be the ideal role model for them, and this has had an impact on my character. Helping my siblings with their homework has taught me how to be patient with people. I am determined and devoted not only to my education but also to their studies. I strive to not only be patient but also trustworthy and kind. Trustworthiness is an important skill that I have that will help me be a good NHS officer. My teachers …show more content…
In my sophomore year of high school, I was lucky enough to be inducted into National Honor Society, and I joined Friends of the Library. Recently during my junior year, I broadened my horizons by joining more groups, such as Key Club, Interact, World Language Club, Junior Executive Board, Future Medical Professionals, and I was lucky enough again to join National Honor Society. I have joined clubs not only at the high school, but also at the Tulsa Tech campus in Broken Arrow, which include Health Occupations Students of America, and I was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Having joined eight clubs has not had a negative effect on my grades. I love that I have had the chance to join so many amazing clubs that not only define who I am but also allow me to give back to the school and

National Honor Society Research Paper

...What I am Not... I am not the top of my class, I am not the star of the varsity soccer team and I am not the most popular student at Turpin High School. This does not mean that I am not an excellent candidate for National Honor Society. Without being all the things that I previously mentioned, I firmly believe that I possess great attributes that allow me to be a leader, a scholar, and a honorable student. I have perseverance. During Varsity soccer tryouts this past year my self confidence was tested. Unfortunately, I found it was a struggle to make the Varsity team. I thought about quitting because I did not like the uncertainty and the feelings of insecurity that arose because of the situation. Sometimes people feel it is easier to quit than to push forward but I “pushed on”. In the end, I did make the Varsity team. I did not take the easy way out when soccer became...

National Junior Honor Society Research Paper

...Hi, I am Sophia Johnson and I am glad that I got the opportunity to apply to be in the National Junior Honor Society program. I have a big heart for helping others and I hope I can be in this program to help even more in my next year as an eighth grader. I am going to share with you a few traits of mine that makes me special. One of the reasons why I would be a good member in this group, is because I’m a very happy and positive person. In every situation I try to look at the positives versus the negatives. This is an important trait in myself because in the world we live in there’s so much negativity, that the world needs to be filled with much more positivity. For example, whenever anyone of my family or friends is having a rough day, I like to step in and tell them to look on the bright side. As well as being a positive person, I am also a very kind person. You...

I was also offered an opportunity to work as a tutor for the math department at BCC, seeing how well I did on the placement exam and both my Calculus courses, I declined the offer because of all the tasks I was doing. Lastly, I was offered an opportunity by general chemistry II professor to do research with him. The research is on “the Determination of chemical composition in rainwater and snow in different locations at Bronx Community College of City University of New York (BCC).” In the end, I decided not to do the research as I was trying to make going to classes, working and volunteering along studying and doing homework all happen. Grading Must Be Abilished

...be graded other way, and that the grades for these courses for these courses should not become part of students’ GPAs. Anti-evolution, the rise of pseudo sciences, and the renewed interest in the occult, all masquerading as science, are symptomatic of the poor job that is done explicating science as a process and a way of knowing. Disciplinary teaching emphasizes fact over concept. (Brophy, D.A. (2004) Every science discipline should be taught with a process base pervasive from the first to the last day of the course. Science teaching needs be revamped to provide an integrated, non-redundant exposition of the discipline focused on principles of which the theory of evolution is only one. Science must to be related both to technology and society. Teaching has to be directed to elicit the desired ends of education and not be regarded simply as a system to deliver fragments of knowledge. The participation of zoologists in delineating the discipline of science and countering pseudo science is essential. Scientists must become involved in science education and participate in updating teachers and insisting on their subject matter competence. University scientists must be concerned beyond the training of majors to provide...

It helps in building confidence and character because they believe that a fraternity gives a certain kind of protection. It gives the feeling of security and importance.
