Scholarship Essay Sample Three - Fulbright Scholarship Essay One - Crabiel Scholarship Winner, won $3,000 scholarship Like Mr. Crabiel, I literally work tirelessly in many academic and leadership roles. I sleep no more than six hours a night because of my desire to expertly meet my many commitments. Throughout my life, I have worked as long and as hard as I possibly can to effect beneficial changes in both school and society. During the summer of tenth grade, I took a number theory course at Johns Hopkins University with students from Alaska, California, and Bogota, Colombia. Similarly, during the summer following eleventh grade, I was one of ninety students from New Jersey selected to attend the Governor's School in the Sciences at Drew University. At Drew, I took courses in molecular orbital theory, special relativity, cognitive psychology, and I participated in an astrophysics research project. For my independent research project, I used a telescope to find the angular velocity of Pluto. With the angular velocity determined, I used Einstein's field equations and Kepler's laws to place an upper bound on the magnitude of the cosmological constant, which describes the curvature of space and the rate of the universe's expansion. Supply and Demand

...(including those that require college education and those that do not) depends upon the size and growth of the economy, affected in turn by demand-side factors such as the strength of consumer (public and private) demand and credit availability”(Rothstein,2009). Even though they have been increases of online universities throughout the United States, the old fashion brick and mortar university are limited. The supply of universities are available are constant, with more freshman registering at a gradual rate, and as a result tuition is increase for the university. “According to the College Board, a not-for-profit membership association comprised of more than 5,400 schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organizations, the national average cost for a year of education at a private four-year college costs $25,143 annually (up 5.9 percent from last year) and $6,585 for a public four-year university (up 6.4 percent)”(Coleman, 2009). Substitutes that could be available to college is, as aforementioned in the previous paragraph, online universities. Online colleges, like the University of Phoenix, can serve as a strong substitute to regular colleges because of its accommodating concept. Online courses can serve as a gateway to other opportunities to get into a better college, or best case scenario, a better paying job. Like regular colleges, the supply for online universities is finite, and unlike universities, the demand is not as strong as a regular university....

A college or university scholarship is a big help to students to attain higher education, especially in today’s society where a college education is a necessity for success. There are thousands of scholarships available, and the financial aid they offer gives a huge advantage to the student and his or her parents. But being supported by the government in paying for one’s college costs are not the only benefits included (Thomas, 2010). Student Assessment Methods

...beyond their school years? This paper will discuss two established methods of assessing student learning, CCSS and PARCC, their strengths and weaknesses as well as discuss issues involving the assessment of student learning. Standardized Tests Standardized testing was established under the premise that it would improve teaching practices and methods, therefore improving schools. In essence it is deemed as the “report card for the community” and the efficiency of our schools performance. ...average student. You are on athletic teams, but not the superstar athlete of your high school by any means. Students believe that they need to be the best at everything to receive a scholarship of any type, but that’s where a lot of them think wrong. Scholarships are available to almost any student and can be granted to students for more than just grades and athletics. The possibilities for scholarships are limitless and give you the best way to have some or even all of your college education paid for. Growing up many students think they need to be in the top ten or getting straight A’s and passing every test. Which isn’t completely wrong because when you do fall into that category it can make receiving scholarships an easier process. Although, if you don’t fall into that category scholarships are nowhere near impossible to receive because of the hundreds of options provided by companies and colleges in every state. Academic scholarships often called merit scholarships or awards, can be obtained by students who weren’t first in their class maybe, but still received good grades and show characteristics of a good student(“Types” para 2). Every academic scholarship is going to have different requirements and monetary amounts that can be awarded. A lot of companies offering scholarships look for individuals who possess leadership...

The Failed Affirmative Action in India

...Introduction “If our political progress was to be real, the underdogs of our society must be helped to become men” (Rabindranath Tagore, Letters from Russia) The debate on affirmative action in India is long and not always geared to the desired aim: creation of equality of opportunity. Just like Indian secularism, reservation system in India has always a different political aim to make the system more unequal than what it is. Indian secularism, rather than making the state independent of religion, is intended to provide special privileges to certain religious groups. Similarly Indian affirmative system is politically designed to provide restricted rights not equal rights to some chosen people. The affirmative action in India has started perhaps by Vice-Roy Curzon in 1905 by banning the employment of Hindu Bengalis in the government services; the official argument was that they were too advanced and taking away job opportunity from others particularly the Muslims. Later it was extended in the military services by giving preferential treatments for Muslims and Sikhs branding them as martial races. Reservations in government jobs were introduced in 1918 in Mysore in favor of a number of castes and communities that had little share in the administration. In 1909 and in 1919 similar reservation system was introduced for the Muslims in British India. In 1935, for pure political reason the British...

Overview of Advertising Plan A. Industry Trends Education in the Philippines has undergone several stages of development from the pre-Spanish times to the present. In meeting the needs of the society, education serves as focus of emphases/priorities of the leadership at certain periods/epochs in our national struggle as a race. Higher education in the Philippines is characterized by the diversity of its origin, plurality in its mission and regional accessibility. However, higher-education institutions established during the Spanish period were more monolithic and Catholic in orientation. It was only under American rule that there was diversity, plurality and greater regional accessibility. In the desire to have a sound democratic foundation, consistent with the tenets of democracy, the expansion of state higher education was equally matched by the growth of secretarian-sponsored higher-education institutions of both Catholic and Protestant persuasion. Higher education in Philippines began with the establishment of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in 1611. With the founding of UST, it can be claimed that private higher education in the country preceded the state higher-education institutions were established before the arrival of the American: the University of San...
