There are many phenomena’s that are known to mankind which is the main contributors to many of the natural disasters that happen in the world. These natural disasters just do not happen in one place over the world they can strike anywhere in the world because mother nature does not take her time to make a distinctions in treatment or show partial favor to what countries receive them. Along the Pacific Ocean rim which is known as the circum Pacific seismic belt where the most of the earth quakes and tsunamis occur at the rate of eighty one percent more than anywhere in the world.( Earthquake Facts and Earthquake Fantasy, 2009, pp. 1-4). This belt stretches beginning with Chile moving northward along the South America coast through Central America, Mexico, west coast of the United States, Alaska, only through the southern parts of Alaska, Japan, Philippine Islands, New Guinea, and islands of Southwest Pacific, New Zealand and the United States. There are other areas where they occur such as the Alpide belt that includes Himalaya, the Mediterranean, and the Atlantic. It happens about seventeen percent of the time in these areas and they have some of the world’s most destructive earthquakes. Also another natural disaster that sometimes brings destruction to the world that we live on includes in the category of phenomena’s known to mankind is volcanoes. They occur in many countries all over the world but I have listed only a few that includes United States, Russia, Philippines, Japan, and France. The first natural disaster that I choose to discuss is Earthquakes which is responsible for creating many more natural disasters when they happen. The feeling of the earth moving right under your feel and the possibility of the ground splitting open and swallowing you and the ground up right before your eyes. They are one of the natural disasters that cause devastation and it can be one of the worst experiences for person during their life. Because they can happen with no warning and cause major damage along with fatalities in areas that are well populated. (Copper, M, 2012 pp. 1-3). Earthquakes have two special kinds of waves one of them is surface waves which makes it way by moving along the earth’s surface and the other one is called body waves which goes into the earthquakes underground get measured, recorded, and detected by instruments called seismographs. It creates a zig zag line that shows the changing strength of the vibrations by acknowledging the movement of the ground surface under the earth as it moves during the earthquake. With this information scientists can decide what time, the epicenter, the focal depth, and the kind of fault of it and can take a guess about how much energy could come from the earth quake. (Measuring Earthquakes, 2013, pp. 1-3.). Also another instrument used to measure the magnitude of an earthquake is called the Richter scale that is name after Dr. Charles F. Richter. Earthquakes not only cause natural disasters by themselves but they can contributed to other natural disaster that also can easily be as destructive as earthquakes are worse than it. These include volcanic eruptions that may be triggered into eruptions, by the seismic waves that are given off from the earthquake can disturb the molten rock that lay beneath volcanoes causing them to become active. The earth movement during it can create landsides and avalanches from debris, soil or snow that lay atop mountainsides that could eventually slide when it is shook loose. It also has the ability to rattle the floors of the sea that causes water it to be displaced and creating waves. That which not only cause damage to the area that near to it but can create devastation to coastal area that are over thousands of miles away. Because the tsunamis that are created from the earthquakes can cause flooding at the point of where the water connects with the mainland. It also can generate enough force to break dams and cause levees to overflow that could destroy people homes, businesses and cause major fatalities for those that lived close to the water. And it can also produce liquefaction where the combining of the soil or sand with the water that have form under the ground creating quick sand if a buildings or homes are located on top it they would tilt and fall over or just get swallow up by the ground. (Copper, M. 2012, pp. 1-3). The next one is tsunamis usually they arrive to land in the form of decreasing water and start to increase in side when they are combine several waves or bore- type waves. It does not come to land as a giant wave but the closer it get to land it force causes it to build up its water levels that caused it to become violent and create flooding as it waves increases the closer it gets to land. Also as it waves become bigger it has the ability to attack the coastlines and creating a lot of devastation damaging property and contributes to causing many deaths along its path of destruction. (SMSTSUNAMI WARNING, 2011, pp. 1-4).They worst and greatest effect is the cost that they destroy human life in the process and you have chance of slim to none of escaping them. With its violent force death from them are instance comes from someone drowning. It also cause disease from the contamination of drinking water and when the water sits to long in one it can caused people to contract malaria because the water is not sanitize properly. They also create massive cost for those communities and countries that are it by them because people in those area need help with reconstruction of their country. And the loss of local income within the economy and create future loss because from the destruction of the infrastructure will always be a problem that exist in future. (SMSTSUNAMI WARNING, 2011, pp. 1-3). Also people that who experience this natural disaster with suffer some psychological effects. The monitoring of tsunamis is done by deep ocean assessment and reporting of tsunamis that helps to maintain and is help making improvements to be able to detect tsunamis early so real time reporting cans be attain from the ocean. It is a system where buoys are put in place at strategic locations in oceans all over the world
