Natural Disasters

Natural disasters are something we cannot fight against or win, since a man is powerless against nature. Some people think that natural disasters are caused by human activity and environmental pollution.
This is not only natures fault, is humans fault to because we don’t take care about or nature, the way of living in these days make the nature and the environment more and more unhealthy. Disasters are highly disruptive events that cause suffering, deprivation, hardship, injury and even death, as a result of direct injury, disease, the interruption of commerce and business, and the partial or total destruction of critical infrastructure such as homes, hospitals, and other buildings, roads, bridges, power lines, etc. Disasters can be caused by naturally occurring events, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding, or tornadoes, alternatively, disasters can be defined according to the extent of their impacts. Catastrophic disasters classify hazards in terms of their effect on human life over a large spatial scale. Events like massive volcanic eruptions, continental-wide droughts or huge tsunamis. Conversely, other disasters may not have huge impacts on people, but may change the face of a landscape permanently - avalanches or landslides may occur in uninhabited areas, where the only physical result is a sudden change in the physical environment

Natural disaster can destroyed houses, trees, building, vehicles and peoples life. .. Natural disasters come in many forms such as earthquakes, tornados, floods, blizzards, fires, and volcanic eruptions, Floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes can be devastating. Even more devastating are the consequences of not being fully prepared. Below are some of the general suggestions for disaster preparedness. Every type of disaster is not subjected to one specific area. This means that people in certain areas only have to prepare for those disasters that are likely to occur in their region.

Disaster happens throughout the world that’s why Always keep a supply of food and water available. Choose foods which do not require cooking or refrigeration. Also keep on hand covered containers which may be used to store fresh water. After a flood, discard any food that may have come in contact with flood water. Boil any water for ten minutes before using . Always keep a battery-powered radio to keep abreast of any warnings or weather alerts. Have several flashlights readily available. Keep a supply of batteries on hand and store in a waterproof container. Keep important papers and insurance policies in a safe place where they will be easy to find if home must be evacuated. If pets must be left behind, make sure that they are put in the safest place possible with a supply of food and water. If not required to evacuate, keep indoors and stay tuned to news and weather programs for updates on conditions. When returning home after evacuation takes special care. Live power lines may be hidden under standing water or debris. Do not use open flames when entering the home since ruptured gas lines might be leaking. Be careful when walking since walls and floors may be unstable.
Saving the environment can help to the environment and be prepared for the natural disasters You never know that it will be the most important day of your life until the day is over.

Natural Disasters

..."There is nothing natural about natural disasters". To call a disaster ‘natural’, means that it has occurred completely independent of the influence of humans. The damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, cannot solely be held accountable by a force of nature, however destructive. Human factors have had an equally damaging effect on the affected areas. It is clear to anyone studying natural disasters that, the difference between who lives and who dies depends largely if not completely on which side of the social divide you were born into. Reasons for evacuation and disaster preparation must be reviewed as these subjects are what caused the most damage. Natural Disasters

...An example of a trauma caused by a natural disaster is hurricanes. Hurricanes can cause people to lose their homes, their cars, and all of their other belongings. The people affected by this natural disaster have to relocate and live in shelters. An example of a personal trauma would be sexual assault. The potential affects these events have on the survivors are grief, sadness, anger, shock, and flashbacks( Shallcross, 2010). According to Shallcross, the survivors of hurricanes also have to rebuild homes and neighborhoods and reconnect with their family members. The survivors of sexual assault are depression, fear, anger, and guilt. The potential effects of these traumas on first responders can cause physical and psychological stress. The first responders of these traumas have fast heartbeats, can become emotionally scarred, and internalize effects on the survivors. The counselor’s role on treating the survivors of trauma is a very important one. All counselors must be trained in trauma-related crisis and know the basics of disaster response( Shallcross,2010). Counselors have a different role when treating first responders affected by trauma than survivors because the first responders are trained to save lives but when they cannot they are stricken with guilt. A mental health counselor could develop VT or STS by becoming too emotional involved with her client. For example, if a mental health counselor counsels a client and they are talking about the rape and the client...

...* Explanation why natural and man-made disasters, crises, and other trauma-causing events have become a focus of the mental health counseling profession? In addition to social support, research shows that many people suffer severe trauma from a natural disaster that require will require mental health care. After a natural disaster, individuals may suffer from anxiety, anger, sleeplessness, hopelessness, and depression. As an example, Aten, Topping, Denney & Hosey (2011) conducted a study at a local church, and examined the psychological effects of Hurricane Katrina on the lives of African Americans. They found that many of the participants reported that they felt overwhelmed by the mental health problems that their congregation and community members were bringing to them for help. The majority of participants reported a need and readiness for education and training, targeting disaster mental health-related issues. However, in most cases mental health counselors are not adequately trained to handle such events; for the most part most counselors go to workshops to better equipment themselves for such cases. In most situations victims continue to live with these burdens and never seek help; for the most part it is all summed up by “pride”. No result can be achieved without cooperation from the entire society. An economy can develop only if all regions and all classes of people are developing. Natural disaster besides affecting people and place, it will wipe off the economy. Revamping the economy and making people recover from the crisis is not alone the responsibility of government, every citizen has to make a significant contribution for recovering, which is the basis of a socialist economic system.
