Network Connections
Networks rely on varies different types of connections to provide access to the internet, deciding on what type of connection to use comes down to what is available in the geographical location, price, reliability, and the amount of bandwidth/ speed a person or company may need. In most cases copper wire is the medium used whether it is through a coaxial cable, Ethernet cabling, or telephones lines; Fiber optics which is purely digital has begun to flood the market due to its high speeds and transmission distances. DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), CATV, and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) are a couple of the current options available in most instances. DSL uses wired telephone services to provide and internet connection with a use of a modem to modulate the frequencies into bits through pulses to create a digital connection over an analog line. DSL offers users a choice of speeds ranging from 128 Kbps to 3 Mbps (Beal, 2016).
CATV similar to DSL in many ways allows high-speed internet to be delivered through the same infrastructure that is used for cable television in an analog format. To allow CATV systems to carry high-speed Internet data, cable companies simply put that data into a slot of bandwidth that would otherwise be used as a television channel (Lander, 2016). The bandwidth available is solely based on how many channels the current cable provider can allocate for data transfer, the more channels, the higher the bandwidth will be which typically ranges from 1-40 Mbps. Through the use of a modem the cable company can send the data out on the cable and then the modem picks off the information that is intended for it. When you upload, though, it's more complicated; if two modems upload at the same time, they could cancel each other out (Lander, 2016) Time division multiple access or TDMA is used to keep two modems from uploading at the same time similar to what is used with cellular carriers. CATV provides a higher amount of bandwidth than DSL due to the medium used for transferring data; DSL uses phone lines where CATV make use of coaxial cable typically produces two times the speed depending on the amount of subscribers in the area. FTTH broadband connections refer to Fiber optic cable connections for individual residences. Such optics-based systems can deliver a multitude of digital information -- telephone, video, data, et cetera -- more efficiently than traditional copper coaxial cable for about the same price (Crosby, 2008). Due to the typical bandwidth of 50 Mbps-1 Gbps and the ability to for long distant links Fiber has been replacing the traditional copper links of the last couple decades (Peterson & Davie, 2012). FTTH broadband connections already are a reality for more than 1 million consumers in the United States, while more than 6 million in Japan and 10 million worldwide enjoy its benefits, according to Broadband Properties Magazine.

Network Efficiency Based on Connectivity type
Some issues that can affect DSL is the overall throughput and speed, which can severely cut down on a networks efficiency when the link becomes saturated and packets begin to drop. One advantage besides cost that DSL does have is that the connection is yours and not shared, and you tend to have a more constant speed (Beal, 2016). CATV Internet connections utilize a cable technology that is based on shared bandwidth which creates many factors influencing a user’s download speeds (Beal, 2016). With shared bandwidth the speed fluctuates depending on the number of subscribers on the network (Beal, 2016). The efficiency of data transferring can be severally degraded with a shared connection such as CATV depending on the needs of the network based on the sharing method used; in a more rural area, this may not be as much of an issue. For networks that rely on large amounts of bandwidth to be passed, providing better efficiency through utilizing a single connection FTTH can provide far faster connection speeds and carrying capacity than twisted pair conductors, DSL or coaxial cable (Crosby, 2008).

ISP connectivity service types and available connections

Generally speaking, everyone wants the fastest most reliable link to provide their network with top performance but having to justify the cost is where the decision to go with DSL, CATV, or FTTH comes into play. Many rural areas and even multiple countries do not have the backbone to support Fiber optics nor provide the service to households and companies. In most cases you have to take what your local ISP provider has available and sometimes that may have to be the slower DSL link forcing you to work with what you have available. Verizon over the past decade has made huge strides in laying Fiber throughout the USA not only working with other companies to lay Fiber backbones but bringing Fiber to the household. Determining what ISP providers have and what infrastructure you currently have based on geographical location is all you can do.
Options Based on Personal or Business and Finances

Each of the mentioned connections has their main advantages and also disadvantages depending on a networks bandwidth requirements. For instance, a home user that already has the infrastructure for CATV or DSL can save money by utilizing the preexisting infrastructure and make their decision based on cost and what they need. In a lot of cases pertaining to a business that relies on mass amounts of data transferring and an enormous amount of users it might be worth the initial investment to have Fiber ran to the build. Choosing what connection to go with comes down to what the user needs performance wise, financial status, existing infrastructure, and what connections are even available; all is based on a case by case basis. For example, most personal users are not going to go out and spend large amounts of money to have Fiber ran to their residence when Fiber is not currently available in their area; the cost would be astronomical whereas a business may be able to justify it.

...physical connections on a computer network, the cabling and the arrangement between the network devices and computers is known as, network topology. As the definition implies the name is loosely tied to the actual appearance the network. There are several topologies; three of the more known ones are Star, Bus, and Ring. The Star topology is a network that is connected through a central device and all the network devices; printers, computers, SAN’s and all other network devise. This topology is the most common network arrangement used today. Most home networks connect to the internet and each other through a single device, the router. This router is usually has a combination of Wi-Fi and Ethernet ports is the center piece and consequently the single point of failure in the entire network. On older equipment a hub was used to tie each node together but the hub had a few shortcomings. First the more devices that were connected and running the slower the network would become. Second because of the way the hub is designed all network traffic was visible to all the devices on the network which meant that security could be compromised by anyone connected to the network. Gone are the hubs; replaced by switches which look exactly like hubs but are smart. With Switches traffic coming from a device is isolate to the node and the other device that the node wants to communicate. This freed up the network congestion that plagues hubs and increased security immediately on the network. The...

You may connect your computer at home or other electronic devices to a wireless network, also called WiFi or 802.11 networks. Wireless networks are easy to set up and mostly inexpensive. Very soon wireless networking may be available from just about anywhere and at any time. Bluetooth is a universal wireless standard for connecting various digital devices. Bluetooth is simply a way to connect devices to one another without the use of cables that transmits the signal over short distances. Bluetooth is “cable elimination technology”. Wireless Connections What is Wireless? Wireless communication is the transfer of information between two or more points that are not connected by an electrical conductor. The most common wireless technologies use radio. With radio waves distances can be short, such as a few meters for television or as far as thousands or even millions of kilometers for deep-space radio communications. It encompasses various types of fixed, mobile, and portable applications, including two-way radios, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and wireless networking. Reflection

...Reflection: The Leadership Mystique Leadership is strongly depending upon the complexity patter among leader, follower, and situation. Successful leaders often fulfill two roles. Taking on the charismatic role allows leaders to envision, empower, and energize their followers through motivation. In the has hand, there is a fine balance when leader must take an instrumental role and approach as an organization designer, keep control, and reward behavior appropriately. Our goal as a leader is to determine the company’s needs and derive our commitment to that direction. In order to pursue the route, it all starts with a vision. Once defined it take that leader to themselves and all they influence with this vision. The vision is driven by the environment and leader ability to understand how which direction the environment moving in problem solving. It’s found that people are motivated if they commit themselves to vision statement that applies to the mission statement. It must be more than words, but inspirational. When working to define your mission, another key factor is to focus on your enemy. Doing this will inspire the competitive flare and provides the focus and concentration to achieve success. Skills Any Leader Should Possess

...What skills any leader should posses. Not only in the work place, the military, or the government, should their be true sense of leadership but also in our households. The boss is the leader in the workplace, the President is the leader in the military, the people are supposed to be the leaders in the government, and moms and dads should be the leaders in a household. People look up the these people not as just humans but as people who will further their career or end it. They see them as people who will save their lives, or save their kids' lives. They see them as people who will mold the world into what we "the people" see best, or like right now to some, make it worse. With this these people are put into leadership roles, and as followers we don't want to see them as shady or not trustworthy. Therefore leaders need to be honest, dependable, and presentable. The people you lead are a reflection of yourself. Therefore you need to hold your morals, such as honesty to a higher level. Put faith into your employees and they will put faith into you and know that they will get an honest answer. This will ensure better profits, and loyal followers. For a business that means greater chance of success. For the government it means loyalty and less riots or government shut downs. For the military it could mean as much as saving a whole companies lives, or having fewer indiscrepencies with soldiers. In the household it could mean the world to a child, and will set the moral standard...

This I Believe

...Some people believe in empathy, some people believe in power, others believe in commitment. I believe in the power of relating. When a leader relates to a follower, they understand what the follower is going through in the particular situation. When this happens it makes everything else go smoothly. And when things go smoothly then everything else falls into place. Having the ability to relate to people gives you a great connection with the people around you, it allows you to connect with them in a way that is like no other. When a person knows that they are not alone in a situation or knows that you have been through it or can (relate) to them then it builds confidence. You are leading them through a situation that is unfamiliar to them, and with relating to the situation you help them through it and give them light in the darkness. In my family my mom and dad would always have the power to relate to what I was going through. They always had a way of relating to what I was going through in life. It didn’t matter if it was a simple thing as in a bad grade on a test or whether my coach got on me at practice, they were always there for my support and understood what I was going through. One person that always knew I could relate to them and help them through situations was my brother. My brother is 3 years younger than me. He has always looked to me for answers. He knows that I have been through it all and he knows that he can come to me as a leader to help him through...

...focus on east coast). Regional airlines usually conduct their business one of two ways: 1. Under a major network airline, using the network airlines brand name, regional airlines fly customers from smaller communities to larger airports. They also supplement the mainline market when demand doesn’t require large aircraft. 2. Regional airlines also conduct their own flights serving as commuter airlines for business travelers needing to travel between small communities and larger cities. As many other regional airlines, SkyWest Inc. earns most of its revenue by partnering up with the larger network airlines. In this type of partnership, regional airlines typically receive a contracted departure fee and are sometimes offered incentives for airline performance such as being on time. The airline industry is vulnerable in many ways. They have vulnerability to market changes, fuel costs, regulations, weather, and customer preferences. Being a smaller company also puts them at risk of being disenfranchised by the larger, network airlines. In 2006, regional airlines had some of the worst on time records in the industry. They also had six out of seven worst records for cancelled flights. My analysis has shown that some of these issues were actually by caused the network airlines, which control the schedule. Network airlines were scheduling flight connections too tight, not giving regional’s enough time to load and unload passengers. Another complication faced by the smaller...

Inflation, a slumping economy, high fuel prices, and high unemployment all serve to add to consumer uncertainty toward the future. Taking this into consideration, there is perhaps no other industry directly impacted by these issues than the airline industry. With high unemployment and a recessive economy, families cannot afford to take vacations that require flying. Businesses that are hurting financially will use other means, (such as Teleconferencing) to coordinate nationally and internationally instead of flying. Today, many consumer attitudes towards the entire flying experience range from a necessary nuisance to a nightmare. Flying today in the post 9-11 world, has become an unpleasant experience to say the least. From check-in to baggage pick...

The executive team gives three main problems, which are SkyWest Reliance on United and Delta for its customers and revenue, Atlantic Southeast Airline’s poor customer service, and SkyWest has High Operating Costs as compared to competitors. However, the executive team just focuses on first two of them and gives the recommendations. The first recommendation is try to acquire contracts with low-cost providers, such as Southwest and JetBlue. We are agreeing with this recommendation. Because, if SkyWest only rely on United and Delta, it will increase their financial risk, assume one of them have a financial or managerial problem, the SkyWest will have a hard time, and that not only will affect their total revenue, but their public reputation and the power of competitive in this market. Also, only have United and Delta will limited the resource of income; therefore, find some more copartner is reasonable, but due to the SkyWest’s financial situation, the low-cost providers can be on the list. However, the question is whether Southwest and JetBlue, they are individual company, and they doing well on their business, so why they will come to SkyWest? What benefit that SkyWest can provide to those companies due to their current finical situation or the future years? We need more detail. The second recommendation is SkyWest share customer service strengths with ASA. And we agree with this recommendation. For any customer, when they...

Studying it gives us a better understanding of the personal and psychological motives behind drug dealers and smugglers to initiate in the process, of the violent crimes behind these activities, of the drug movement itself, and of the society we live in. Aware of the importance of having knowledge about drug traffic and smugglers, and conscious of the “enormous research potential in studying them,” Patricia A. Adler, the author of “Researching Dealers and Smugglers” and her husband Peter decided to study this subject more in depth. A legitimate motivation the author might have had for researching the subject is the significant boom that this research could have to her professional career, because she would offer a completely new perspective of drug trafficking. While studying and analyzing the drug dealers, Mrs. Adler and her husband took a different approach. She felt that past researchers all did the same mistake: they usually wanted to understand the world of criminals from their own perspective. This means that they usually tried to obtain information in a very systematic and distant way, without taking risks or dealing directly with the people involved.
