"If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." This is a famous quote from basketball legend Micheal Jordan. Never giving up is important because even if you're not skilled at something, people will notice your effort, and you'll miss lots of opportunities in life. Even though you're not experienced at something, people will notice your effort. Even though you aren't the best player on the team, if you try your hardest, your coach will notice. If you're not an expert in a certain subject but work at it, you can bring your grade up. If you don't understand how to do something on a job, but attempt to do it, your boss will notice your effort. You'll miss many opportunities

...me in life that no matter what class you are in you have to think creative. In the entire course there was nothing but writing. I can honestly say English 102 has taught me to be a better researcher and a better writer. The writing for me was super hard in the beginning of the course. I have never seen myself as a writer I suffer from an extreme case of writer’s block which causes me to give up without giving a shot at the work. The extra help has made me feel as writing will never shy away from you in life so just write. The annotated references played a big role throughout the course this semester. The role annotated references had been the whole outline of this course without the annotated I had nothing to write about. First I struggled with the concept of the references I realized that there wasn’t a research paper without the references. The references were one of the most time consuming aspect of the paper. The research question had to have a connection towards the refernces The difficulty I encountered in English 102 came about from the grasping of the material, the details in the rubric, and the guide lines. The biggest thing I had a problem with was staying on topic, and giving too much of my personal opinion in my writing. The structure of the class is made to stay on top of your independence of the reading and writing. During the course of the class there were many small learning skills that were provided to gain extra help. The small learning skills played a big...

The Importance Of Oral Communication

...company and speak about their ethics. So, we started first to look at Apples ethics if you look it up on the web you’ll find it. Then we started to research anything bad that the company had been going through in the last couple of years. We stumbled upon something that caught our eyes. So, we went with that. To keep it short, we did a whole bunch of research on the company and how bad it was ethically. When we had all the information we needed we made a little power point presentation as assigned. This is where the skills of oral commutation come out. Whenever you are giving a speech with something in the background, you cannot have a lot of context. For instance, like having an entire paragraph in your slides, because your listeners will be caught up with reading it instead of listening to you. That way no one will learn. So, whenever I use slides on my presentations I try to use images that will help me remember what I have to say. I also, but very rarely, use small phrases to help me remember as well. Something else that I use when trying to do presentations is to incorporate humor. As you can see with this presentation I was making fun of the Prius throughout the entire presentation. Don’t get me wrong humor has its time and place when it comes to giving speeches. I feel like as a human being you should know when you can tell a joke or not. But...

Communication

...most important aspect of our lives; it has a factor in everything we do from socializing to getting out of a speeding ticket. Good communication skills will help anybody out with getting a good job and help them move up the ladder. Speeches are a very good way to improve your communication skills; it forces you to face your fears of speaking and ultimately improves your speaking. Speeches have never been my favorite assignment do to in class. I am a shy person and talking in front a group of people is a little nerve-racking. I am a great communicator when I am talking to my friends or family, but talking in front of a group of people is much harder. My parents say I mumble and I believe I mumble to. That is an issue I need to work on, and will only be fixed if I talk more. I also do not like reading work that I have done. I will gladly give a speech that was not written by me. I believe other people would describe me a good communicator even though I have never asked somebody if I am a good communicator. People get what I have to say so that is why I think I am a good communicator. I have never done public speaking only a few speeches in high school. I did not get good grades on those speeches in high school because I did not do enough research and did not pick topics that I knew. I hope I can improve my speeches a lot this semester. ...let me explain to you what led us to the most drastic decision in history. Responding to the drop in Pearl Harbor. “When you have to deal with a beast you have to treat him as a beast (Understanding the drop of atomic bomb, pg. 1). The US had been fighting a long and massive war since 1941. Four years to be exact, is a long time for any fight. Especially when there’s no sign of either of them giving up. This began to put pressure on both leaders from the American casualties and the Japanese attitudes to end the war quickly as possible. Although Germany had finally giving up and surrendered, the Japanese had not. They were going to fight until they couldn’t fight no more, and that’s what they did. The winning of this war was so crucial and meant so much to them. They were willing to kill themselves in explosive air planes in order to kill them. This is how serious this war was to them. Truman later had American air strikes leave millions of Japanese homeless, yet they still kept fighting. They had heart, no matter how long and how much Truman tried to force them to surrender. They never gave in. In fear of being executed Americans began to discuss alternatives. He felt it was his priority to end this war quickly, and how he can do that without losing US casualties. Because the bomb was still untested, Truman held a conference...

...school. They are then forced to write a research paper while not understanding the full breadth of plagiarism and what all it encompasses. Some do not even know how to insert proper citation and bibliography. This leads many children into unknowingly committing plagiarism every year. Students do not understand what the act of plagiarism is and how it impacts not only them, but other students as well. Plagiarism is “to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own, to use (another's production) without crediting the source, to commit literary theft, or to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.”( http:plagiarism.org / What is Plagiarism?) Students think it’s just copying or borrowing, but it’s much more serious. The doubt may come into mind of whether words or ideas can really be stolen. The U. S. Government says that in accordance with copyright laws these words and ideas are “intellectual property” (http:plagiarism.org / What is Plagiarism?) and are protected under these laws. Almost anything where it can be questioned if it’s ok to do is plagiarism. “Turning in someone else’s work, copying words from someone without giving credit, failing to put a quotation in quotation marks, giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation, changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit, copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you...

Spiritual Gifts

...Sherri L Hull CHMN 201-D05 04/07/2014 Spiritual Gifts Paper Part One: What are my top 2 spiritual gift? Do I agree with the results? Why or Why not? The top two spiritual gifts from my assessment were Administration and Teaching, with Pastor/Shepherd receiving the same assessment score. Based on my background in Purchasing and Job Costing, I would have to agree with the Administration score; however, Teaching and Pastor/Shepherd has me somewhat confused. The descriptions of each of these, and how they appear to go hand-in-hand does; however, make sense. According to the assessment descriptions, if a person scores high in Teaching but not in Pastor/Shepherding they probably would not make a good Sunday school teacher; therefore, receiving the same score arouses my curiosity what does God see something in me, that I do not. My position as a job costing supervisor has taught me to account for each material being used in the manufacturing industry. Along with my former purchasing responsibilities, both positions back up the assessment score in Administration. The assessment further defines my score in Teaching/Shepherding, as a person who enjoys research. At times this person can be technical. This would represent the details of any given work or research being done, everything needs an explanation. It also defines the person as one who needs to be accommodating when deadlines near and pressure increases. This skillset may become beneficial to the calling I believe...

Report on Religious Field Research Gospels

... The focus of this paper is on a part of a religion that generally does not have a visible tie to a specific religion, not until it is investigated further, The Gospels. My Prior understanding a Gospel Church is one where there is a lot of standing and singing about God – this is a misunderstanding. The church itself is focused on the four Gospels and what the real meaning is. The word “Gospel” for Christians refers to the “good news” that is a result of Jesus Christ’s death and its meaning (Keathly, 2004). Another misconception of a Gospel Church is the Bishop has his own agenda and does not focus on the Gospels themselves. Also, I have always felt that the church has become a place to be seen, not just for the sighting itself but also be dressed up in the best clothes possible. Another misconception of the Gospels and Christianity is they have nothing do with Jewish faith and they are completely different. Misconceptions are easy to confirm or debunk with research and a non-partial attitude towards what is being investigated. With so many religions in the world how can anyone be sure which religion is best for them? Religion is a result of nurture and not nature, humans in general were not born to follow a specific religion it is a path that is made or forced upon them. The best way to understand other religions is to research and study the standard practices of that religion and if possible, use immersion and experience it in person. Research Overview Over 2000...

Chapter II – Review of related literature. Chapter III – Methodology * Research design * Data gathering procedure * Respondents Chapter IV – Conclusion and recommendation. Introduction Background of the study The bible is a book, used as a guide, and the vital proof of the faith of many Christians, which includes many promises, and histories, many of which are already being verified as facts, e.g.: the parting of the Red sea, in which were found, preserved chariot wheels, rusty Egyptian swords, arrowheads, and other military materials in a vast array, for an unknown reason, until the bible. This topic will portray our proof of the reliance of the bible, which was written for a period of more than 1500 years and was completed 1900 years ago. This paper shows how a book, written in a vast period of time, very long ago, is even used as a source of wisdom, knowledge, and a holy tool to overcome what man can never achieve alone. We want to prove how many scientists, and historians are forced to admit that the Bible is accurate in all aspects. This research proves that new discoveries always support the things in the Bible. Though the bible can contain insignificant errors, e.g.: misspellings and minor changes (like a different word order in a sentence, or a removed word) it will not matter since...

...Research Paper on iCloud Technology Introduction             The Apple Corporation seems to effortlessly lead in technology advancements that attract millions of customers, and with the newest iCloud development, there is nothing stopping its success. With the invention of this easy-to-use back up and synchronization system, Apple users are able to retrieve data from multiple devices.             It is beneficial in being simple and easily accessible; however, there are some legal, ethical, and security issues that must be noted when using the service. However, with emerging technology comes further research. With the ongoing research on the iCloud service, Apple workers will be able to hurdle over these issues. Background             iCloud is one of the newest, most brilliant services created by the Apple Corporation. It functions as a backup system on Apple products, such as the iPhone or iPad. Instead of having to go through the trouble of remembering to back up files such as music, photos, and other files like these, data on the device is automatically backed up through iCloud every time the piece of equipment is plugged in and connected to the Wi-Fi network (Smith, 2011). This service also helps the Apple user stay in sync with each device. By having this backup system, the material is put “in the cloud” and is able to be transferred from one Apple device to another through a wireless connection (Smith, 2011).             The term “iCloud” comes from the...
